Chapter 8: The King of the School

Nick sat in class, tapping his fingers against the desk. His body still ached from the fight with Jason, but his mind was elsewhere.

Damien Carter.

The name kept repeating in his head. He didn't know much about the guy, but from Jain's reaction and Leah's warning, Damien wasn't just another school thug.

"Yo." Jain nudged him. "You listening?"

Nick blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. "What?"

"I was saying—don't mess with Damien, man. That guy isn't like Jason. You beat Jason because he's all talk and ego. But Damien?" Jain shook his head. "He's a different breed."

Nick raised an eyebrow. "How different?"

Jain leaned in, lowering his voice. "He doesn't fight just to prove a point. He fights to destroy."

Before Nick could respond, the classroom door opened.

A guy walked in—tall, lean, and relaxed. His black hair was neatly styled, and his piercing dark eyes scanned the room like a predator observing its prey.

Nick didn't need an introduction.

He already knew.

Damien Carter.

The room went silent as Damien strolled inside. He didn't rush. He didn't need to.

Nick noticed something—no one even looked him in the eye.

Not the teacher. Not the students. No one.

Jain exhaled sharply. "Shit."

Nick kept his gaze locked on Damien, who slowly walked toward the back of the classroom—toward him.

The air around them felt heavier.

Damien finally stopped in front of Nick's desk, a lazy smirk forming on his lips. "So… you're the one who embarrassed Jason?"

Nick didn't flinch. "Yeah. That'd be me."

Jain visibly tensed beside him.

Damien chuckled. "Interesting." He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "Tell me, Nick… do you know what happens to people who stand out in this school?"

Nick didn't answer. He could feel the pressure in Damien's words.

Damien's smirk widened. "They get crushed."

The tension in the room was suffocating.

Nick met Damien's gaze, unfazed. "Then let them try."

A pause.

Then, Damien laughed softly. "Hah… I like you." He straightened up, his amusement clear. "But let's see if that confidence lasts."

With that, he turned and walked away, his presence lingering like a shadow.

The moment he left, the classroom buzzed with murmurs.

Jain exhaled loudly. "Dude… you're so screwed."

Nick clenched his fists under the desk.

Damien Carter wasn't just the strongest student. He was the King of the School.

And now?

Nick had his attention.
