Chapter 4 - Talent Scramble

"Hello, Dean Tian," Lv Yongchang stood hurriedly to greet the elder.

Tian Zhixuan nodded amiably, his eyes returning to the blackboard. The first half contained foundational fusion knowledge, but the diagrams and equations still impressed him—a prodigy's precision.

When he reached the new material derivation, his eyes lit up. Regardless of validity, the process radiated elegance. This student is mine.

"Tian, don't cross the line!" Guan Hualiang protested as Tian turned to Lv.

"Lv Yongchang, right?" Tian ignored Guan. "Interested in transferring to Materials Science? I'll guarantee you a graduate spot."

Lv blinked. Scouting me?

"Hold on!" Guan snapped. "He's a physics student!"

Tian dismissed him with a wave. "Self-taught?" he asked Lv.

Lv glanced at Guan. "Yes."

Tian's excitement surged. A true genius! "Impressive," he said evenly. "But there are flaws. Join my institute—I'll secure you a National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars award."

Lv suppressed a laugh. Distinguished Young Scholars? I was Humanity's Chief Scientist. "Perhaps you should first review the material's molecular formula," he suggested politely.

Before Tian could respond:

Bang!

The door flew open. "Tian Zhixuan! Insulting Physics Department by poaching our student?!" boomed Jiang Yongxing, Dean of Nuclear Physics.

Guan grinned. Tian paled.

Jiang stormed in, froze at the blackboard. No wonder Tian's desperate.

"Lv Yongchang, I'm Dean Jiang. Whatever Materials offers, Physics can match," he declared.

Lv sighed inwardly. Where's the review?

Guan coughed. "Gentlemen, let's focus on the calculations."

Dozens of professors seated themselves, pens ready. Lv waited calmly.

"Explain the third equation on the left," a young professor requested.

Lv demonstrated the derivation. The professor bowed. "Thank you."

Jiang noted Lv's mathematical prowess—better than most here. Must keep him in Physics.

As senior professors grilled Lv on technicalities, he answered flawlessly.

"No more questions?" Lv sipped water.

Silence. Tian and Jiang stared at the board—disbelief vs. exhilaration.

"Lv," Guan interrupted, "return to your dorm. We'll discuss further."

Lv nodded, exiting as professors erupted into debate.
