Frank Scotts woke up in the morning feeling refreshed and looking forward to drawing something new.He had to admit that he didn't think he would be so good at it.His first try was amazing.
Once he finished his usual morning routine he immediately went downstairs to watch the morning news with his family. His parents were downstairs on the sofa and Frank guessed that his younger sister went to school already.
"Morning"
"Ohhh uhhh morning Frank."
"Are you watching the news?"
"Uhhh yeah...its been interesting this morning."
"How so?"
Frank walked into the living room and stared at the TV.What he saw caused his stomach to churn and his mind to go blank for a second. It couldn't be?
There on the TV was video footage of a flock of crows on a cemetery. That wasn't the interesting part though. What was interesting was that they were larger then normal and had crimson open eye patterns on their bodies.
They were the crows that Frank had drawn yesterday and they were there in the flesh acting like living creatures in all their glory.
"Reports state that after midnight last night multiple flocks of these crows have appeared around the globe. No one knows their origins. Some people theorise that these crows are aliens with convergent evolution similar to our crows whilst others theorise that these crows have emerged from another dimension.People look to the government for answers yet they remain silent on the subject."
"These crows also behave abnormally. They appear friendly at first but when one attacks them they become highly aggressive especially when separated from their flock. There have already been injuries with huntsmen getting attacked by entire flocks and getting their eyes pecked out.Thankfully there have been no recorded deaths just yet."
Footage of people being carried to hospital played on the TV screen.Their injuries were blurred out but they were no doubt severe.
"These birds appear to carry a grudge against anything that wrongs them. However they appear to hold a special kind of hatred for pigeons. These crows will murder any pigeons they see on sight. They will kill pigeons by raking them with their talons and stabbing them with their beaks. They will also break the eggs of pigeons."
The footage on TV switched to morrigan crows attacking pigeons mid flight with their entire flocks.
"The abnormal thing about these crows however is that their caws have the mysterious ability to temporarily disorient other living creatures. There are also claims that seeing exceptionally high numbers of them can cause bad luck though these claims have yet to be confirmed as of yet."
Frank Scotts was filled with fear and guilt. This couldn't be a coincidence. All these morrigan crows appeared at midnight after he completed his drawings of them and signed them with his signature.
What would happen if people found out he was responsible for the appearance of these morrigan crows?People had already been attacked by them.Would they blame him for it?Frank had never intended for people to get hurt and for pigeons to get murdered and their eggs destroyed.
Frank decided to burn the drawings. No one had seen them yet but if they did they would no doubt blame him.Not to mention if Frank burned the drawings would the morrigan crows also disappear or die?He had to try.
Frank returned upstairs and crunched up the A3 sheet of paper with the morrigan crows drawings. He also put a lighter in his pocket. He left the house after telling his parents he was going for a walk. They told him to be careful.
Frank took his bicycle and headed to the woods. He had to do this in private if he didn't want to get caught. He found a secluded area without many plants around and took out the scrunched up A3 sheet of paper.
CAW
A slight but fleeting disorientation came over Frank as he looked up to see a murder of flying morrigan crows. They were there for him to see him in the flesh. They bent their heads at him as though curious about what he was going to do.There were thirteen of them.
Frank paused for a moment.Could they have come here to stop him?He had to make sure to do things fast then. The morrigan crows remained silent whilst looking at him.
Frank took out the lighter and scrunched up A3 sheet of paper and lit it on fire.It burned like regular paper and Frank let go of it and let it fall to the ground. He made sure to drop it in an area where no fire would spread.
The page burned up and disappeared.Despite Frank's best hopes however he heard a familiar caw and a familiar feeling of disorientation.
The morrigan crows hadn't disappeared.
