Chapter 1 - Prologue

The city of Rista Puerto shimmered under the gentle glow of its twin moons, a silent testament to the pinnacle of technological achievement. In this metropolis of the future, every element of life was meticulously curated through an intricate network of artificial intelligence. Homes were constructed by robotic architects who melded art with engineering, while food was cultivated in vast urban gardens maintained by specialized machines. Entertainment, education, and even mail delivery operated seamlessly in this technologically advanced society. For the citizens of Rista Puerto, life was a perfect blend of futuristic luxury and effortless leisure, a dream realized through decades of innovation and progress. Yet, as the old saying went, Nothing is eternal.

Across town, in a modest yet modern home nestled in one of the high-rise districts, Jace was fully absorbed in the latest immersive gaming experience—Starfall Reckoning. His eyes, wide with excitement, tracked the movement of holographic enemies as his nimble fingers danced across his controller. Lost in the thrill of virtual combat, his senses barely registered the time slipping away. Meanwhile, his father's frustrated voice echoed from the hallway. "Jace, for the stars' sake! It's 3 a.m.! Turn that blasted game off and go to bed!" the voice exclaimed, blended with equal parts exhaustion and exasperation. Begrudgingly, Jace mumbled his apology, though deep down he wished to remain just a little longer in the digital realm staving off an unremarkable night.

Before the virtual battlefield could swallow him completely, an unexpected and ethereal ray of light burst through the living room windows. The brilliance was not a feature of his game—this light was so vivid, so otherworldly that Jace had to lift his arm to shield his eyes. "What in the—? It's the middle of the night! Where is that light coming from?" he muttered with a mix of annoyance and perplexity. Then, as though reality was giving way to a surreal spectacle, everything turned white, swallowing the room in an overwhelming brightness.

Moments later, television screens across the city erupted with emergency alerts. A frenzied voice reported a shocking explosion in the eastern district of Valesta. The broadcast described how a massive explosion had leveled parts of the neighborhood, leaving behind a huge crater where a jagged, obsidian meteor now lay smoldering. The anchor's voice trembled as he spoke about the mystery of the meteor—its sudden appearance baffled even the most sophisticated early-warning systems. "It's almost as if it appeared out of thin air," the reporter noted. The camera feed, however, did little to settle the emerging chaos. As the scene jumped to the crater, scientists and police hurried around the smoldering rock, their expressions etched with equal parts alarm and uncertainty.

The tension rose when the camera focused on the meteor itself. A hairline crack began to develop in its dark surface, and without warning it splintered open to reveal a monstrous, shadowy form stemming from within. With glowing red eyes that pierced the darkness, the creature stirred into existence amid the simmering debris. Security personnel tried to establish order, but the creature's enormous claws swiped through the air, effortlessly toppling law enforcement officers who had gathered near the danger zone. "Fall back! Fall back!" commanded a police officer whose voice carried little authority against the terrifying roars that shook the screen.

On a nearby rooftop, a squadron of drones rapidly descended, their built-in laser cannons primed to target the burgeoning threat. Just as the drones prepared to unleash their firepower, the creature's sinister roar morphed into a deafening screech. A powerful shockwave radiated outward, disabling the drones mid-flight. In an instant, the drones crashed to the ground, each fiery explosion adding to the already overwhelming chaos in Valesta.

Back in the home of our young gamer, Jace now found himself reeling from the disruption. His eyelids fluttered open as he slowly regained his sight from the intense flash, only to see an emergency broadcast projected on his holographic screen. The words, Citywide Alert: Seek Shelter Immediately, blazed in bold red letters. "Dad! Did you see that? What the hell is going on?" Jace cried out, terror creeping into his voice as he made sense of the unexpected emergency unfolding before him.

His father, who had previously retreated to sleep under a heavy blanket, now emerged with a look of grave concern painted on his face. "I don't know, but we need to get to the safe room. Now!" he insisted. The urgency in his tone left little room for argument. Together, they bolted out of the living room and down the hallway, the structural integrity of their home trembling as the ground itself began to shake violently. Picture frames crashed from the walls and cherished mementos tumbled to the floor as the earthquake-like tremors punctuated each step they took. Yet, despite the chaos around them, Jace's father remained resolute, gripping his son's trembling hand as they navigated the narrow corridor to the safety of a reinforced room designed for emergencies.

A few miles away, in a dark and foreboding chamber far removed from the technological comforts of Rista Puerto, an enigmatic figure observed the unfolding events with chilling detachment. Illuminated only by the faint glow of swirling mist, the figure exuded an aura of menace and authority. The room was silent except for the low hum of energy that seemed to pulse in sync with the figure's eerie calm. "Report," the figure commanded in a voice that resonated with cold efficiency. One of his subordinates, a hunched and gaunt individual whose voice was raspy and uneven, stepped forward to deliver the news. "The first phase is complete, my lord. The seed has been planted on Rista Puerto. The mortals are unaware of what is to come." His words were deliberate, devoid of any remorse or hint of hesitation.

The cloaked leader allowed himself a momentary smirk before leaning back, as if surveying an intricate chessboard only he could see. "Excellent. And the next target?" he inquired, his tone casual yet laced with malice. "Earth, my lord. A primitive world, ripe for conquest," replied the subordinate. The leader chuckled deeply—a sound so low and resonant that it sent a shiver through the darkness. "Earth… a planet of weaklings, clinging to their fragile existence. This will be almost too easy," he mused softly. After a long pause, he lifted a hand and decreed, "Permission granted. Let the reckoning begin." It was a statement that, despite its simplicity, bore the weight of impending doom.

As the city of Rista Puerto buckled under the twin pressures of chaos and dread, the narrative of fate seemed to twist ever deeper into the realms of uncertainty. In the safe room, Jace and his father huddled together, their breaths synchronized with the rhythm of an uncertain future. While silence washed over them for a brief moment, the palpable atmosphere hinted at the myriad questions that would no doubt soon arise. The gravity of the situation was not lost on either of them, even as fear and desperation mingled with hope—a hope that somehow, together, they might survive the oncoming storm.

Outside, the twin moons continued their silent vigil, casting eerie shadows over a city whose fate now hung in the balance. Across the metropolis, citizens braced against a nightmarish fusion of reality and terror—a night where technology failed to shield them from the wrath of forces beyond their control, and where the old adage, Nothing is eternal, echoed more meaningfully than ever before. In this defining moment, the delicate fabric of life in Rista Puerto was about to be irrevocably torn, leaving behind scars that would mark not just a city, but an entire world poised on the brink of calamity.
