Chapter 1 - An Idea

In life there were people who were just destined for great things. Born with good looks, money, and power.

Ethan Nova was not one of those people...He was even better.

Being born to the Nova clan, the richest family in the world, Ethan had never wanted for anything. While some were born with a gold spoon he had a platinum spoon, and more diamonds and cash than he knew what to do with. And with all of that wealth, there came unimaginable power. At only thirty two, he was already the CEO of Nova Enterprises, and under his leadership business was booming.

Not only was he filthy rich, he was good looking too. In admitting to that, Ethan was not showing off, he was simply being honest. He'd been blessed with the classic Nova looks. Cheek bones so well defined they could cut steel. Warm dark brown eyes( from his mother's side of the family), and light freckles on the bridge of his nose. He was tall, and thanks to his daily runs, he was also lithe and healthy.

Needless to say, what women wanted in a man. Ethan had all of that and more. Since he was single countless women, often threw themselves at him. Trying to get his attention, but none of them ever succeeded.

He had money, he had power, and he had his business to focus on. After all running a multinational company was no easy feat.

For most of the year, that was what Ethan told himself. But for one night every year, since his break up with his ex two years before. Ethan acknowledged the true reason why he was no longer interested in dating.

A broken heart.

That year, it just so happened that the anniversary of his break up with Melissa Summers-the cold blooded witch- had fallen on a Sunday. Long story short, Ethan had spent the weekend getting drunk out of his mind-alone- which had made him feel incredibly pathetic.

But now, it was Monday, and despite his throbbing headache and the fact that the world tended to spin if he turned too fast. Ethan was in his office, trying to act like a functional human being...trying and failing.

He'd made it through one meeting. A meeting which he had spent glaring at everyone and everything. Glad when everyone was too scared to ask him any direct questions, or make too much noise.

As soon as the meeting had ended, Ethan had realised that he would not be able to do anything more for the rest of the day. So he had holed up in his office and gotten his PA Mrs Windrow to cancel everything.

Now he was currently in his office. The whole room was pitch black. The blinds closed and the lights off. With his head pillowed on his folded arms for comfort, Ethan could almost convince himself that his hangover was not so bad.

But that lie was torn apart by the door suddenly bursting open, followed by what felt like all of the noise in the world rushing in at once.

"I am sorry sir, I tried to stop her," Eric did not even get to ask who it was before the brazen intruder announced herself.

"Little brother!" His sister's too cheerful voice rang out, and Ethan wanted to cry. Had she been anyone else a simple look and she would have withered in place. But Sarah, being his older sister was immune to Ethan's famous glares.

"Uncle Ethan! Uncle Ethan!"Ahh, she had brought his niece and nephew, Cara and Craig along. As slow as anything, he raised his head from his arms, and leaned back against his chair as his family approached.

On any other day, he would have been glad to see the twins. Their bright smiles were always welcome. But on that particular day, Ethan just wanted to be alone. Unfortunately for him, his sister was not having it. The moment that his PA left them alone, Sarah took a seat. She did not say anything for a while, the two of them simply staring at each other. Ignoring the twins as the four year olds ran around the office. Using priceless decorations as toys.

All of his life, Ethan had never won a staring contest with his sister, and that Monday, he suffered yet another loss by being the first to crack. Looking away from eyes the same shade of dark brown as his own, Ethan began speaking.

"Lovely as it is to see you, older sister, what brings you here. Shouldn't you be nose deep in a book at some dark corner of the university?" Being a linguistics professor, Sarah could often be caught with a book in hand. She had gotten to the point where she rarely lectured. Mostly staying home and working on translating ancient texts.

She shrugged, pretending not to see her kids taking turns licking the giant vase at the corner of the giant office.

"Why be busy reading, when I can spend some time with my sweet baby bro," Her tone was light, but her eyes were narrowed, clearly sizing him up, searching for weakness.

Ethan fought the urge to fidget, his cold mask slid into place, giving nothing away.

"What are you really doing here, Sarah?" He asked, too tired to prolong things. But even so, he was expecting her to beat around the bush a bit. Which was why he was unprepared for her to get straight to the point.

"The anniversary of the break up was this past weekend right?" Ethan's mask of indifference shattered. He tried to get it back up. But from the knowing look in his sister's eyes, it was already too late.

"I'll have you know I went drinking with some friends," His sister gave him a look full of disbelief.

"What friends, you kicked out all of the fake ones you'd had before once you found out that they'd known everything that witch was doing and had been laughing behind your back," It was true, not only was he single. He was also friendless. Which was better than being surrounded by snakes.

"Leave it, Sarah," He bit out, his tone cold, but she was undeterred. After glancing briefly over at Cara and Craig, who were now crawling around on the carpet, she turned back to him.

"You have not dated anyone since the break up...I worry about you little brother,"

"Not today, Sarah just...let it go okay. I do not want to talk about dating, or Melissa ," But Sarah would not listen.

"It's been two years Ethan. You have to break her hold over you. Start dating again...there is more to life than just work," And there in lay the problem. One of the issues that Melissa had with him was how much he worked. At least that had been one of her excuses for cheating.

"Oh, Ethan," Sarah said softly at the sad look on his face. Ethan shrugged and got up, too mad to let his hangover stop him.

"It is not like I can just drop everything and start looking for love. I am a busy man. I do not have time to go around chasing women. No time to-"

"No time to find love... to find happiness?" Sarah cut in smoothly, and the fight went out of Ethan, and he sat back down.

"What do you want from me Sarah?" He asked, feeling defeated.

"Start dating, go out there. I can find you someone,"

Ethan let out a bark of laughter before he could stop himself, instantly regretting the way the sound made his head pound.

"What? You are going to set me up on blind dates? Stop playing around," Before his sister could answer, his PA let herself into the office.

"Sir, the shipping company you have been trying to acquire wants to talk. They want to raise the price," All discomfort pushed aside, Ethan straightened. He had been working on that deal for weeks, he would not be denied.

Despite his testy exchange with his sister. The Nova CEO had been hoping to take the rest of the day off and maybe go to the park with his niece and nephew. But it seemed that, that was not to be.

As Ethan quickly said goodbye to his family and went to deal with the potential crisis. He did not notice the contemplative look on his sister's face.

"Blind dates," She mouthed, a gleam in her eyes as an idea slowly began to form.
