Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Arrival

In a world where the average man has some type of special ability or superpower, one would expect such a world to be quite strange and unfamiliar. However, that is hardly the case.

Surprisingly, even with the discovery of quirks more than a century ago, the world still retains its normalcy, people still commute to and from work, they still go to school and they still drive relatively normal cars, and the layout of streets is the same and buildings are still made to resemble those from a hundred years ago.

The only difference that exists now is that a significant portion of the population has gained extra appendages, horns, and bright-colored skin, and some even look closer to animals than people.

Overall, the way society is run is the same; sure, there's a booming industry of superheroes, even schools dedicated to teaching students to become heroes, but aside from that, society runs the same as it always has been.

At present, two young adults, a man and a woman, both in their late teens, walked on the sidewalk side by side. Both are wearing matching school uniforms, a grey blazer, over a white shirt and red tie, with dark green pants and skirt, respectively.

"I don't understand why we didn't have the limo take us to school"

The young man complained to his sister, he was quite tall, reaching 180 cm in height. He had piercing blue eyes, pitch-black short hair, cut into a low taper fade, and a handsome face with a defined jawline.

"Because Taro, I want to make friends this time, not like in high school, I don't see why you are complaining. You can fly"

She responded without looking directly at him. Rather, she was focused on a glove-like mechanical contraption that she had made.

She was shorter than him by 7 cm but still quite taller than the average Japanese individual. She had long black hair and deep black eyes and was a fairly beautiful young woman with fair skin and a well-endowed figure.

"Not to mention, it would be kind of odd to have a limousine take us from our apartment when we can walk there"

She added the two of them were university students now. She didn't need the rich girl's reputation to chase her everywhere she went. It made it difficult for her to make any real friends.

"Yeah, I forgot you were Miss No Friends, and now I'm stuck walking with you"

"I don't see why you are speaking as if you had more friends than I when neither of us had any?"

"I didn't have any friends by choice unlike you"

"Well, at the very least, I had better grades, Mr. Taro the Dumb-star"

"Momo my dear little sister, watch yourself"

The brother warned, and the sister simply gave him a condescending smirk.

"Oh? Is the balding old man afraid?"

"Girl, at least my future hero's name isn't the Hairy Nerd; what are you going to do? Defeat villains with hair cream and conditioner?"

Taro responded. Momo Yaoyorozu was oftentimes a sophisticated young lady; coming from a rich background, she has been taught how to act properly in public, but for some reason, when her brother is concerned, all that goes out the window.

"I at least I have hair, I'm sure you'll be bald by the end of next month"

"ha! My prestigious hairline isn't so weak, and besides, it's better than being a glutton, gluttonous hero, who eats anything, even her one hair"

Her brother returned the insult, of course, much like her; he has been taught the same, the difference; however, he never cared about sophistication to begin with.

"That was an accident! I forgot to tie it, but I'm still better than a dunce who barely got a 50 in maths"

"Oh shut up, maths is just bullshit, and besides, I'm still marginally better than the girl who searched how to make friends online"

She gasped in shock and embarrassment, she hadn't told anyone about that.

"How did you know that?!!"

"Delete your browser history, sis. Always delete your browser history"

"Well, at least I'm not…"

The two siblings continued to argue back and forth as they made their way towards the gates of the best superhero training school in Japan, UA University.

UA University was a prestigious institution that boasted a wide variety of fields to study and learn, but it was known for its incredible hero course and saw multiple graduates who became some of the most renowned heroes in Japan.

Heroes like the no.2 hero Endeavor, as well as Best Jeanist and their most recent graduate Mirko, a hero who managed to enter the top 10 in the hero rankings in just 3 years.

No doubt, UA was where the greats were made and molded to be the best of the best, and students across the country were eager to walk through its gates to learn and become the best.

It was, however, unfortunate that Taro cared little about being a hero and was simply here purely because he could; many would seethe to see such an undeserving individual live their dream.

He didn't think being a hero was bad; in fact, he thought it admirable, but he didn't particularly see why he should become one, after all, there were already the likes of All Might and Endeavor, so the number of heroes didn't need to increase; they were good as they were.

The reason he even applied for UA was mostly because he had a hunch that it would be fun to attend. Lord knows he needs to have a bit of fun, and the other reason is to look after his sister, a duty bestowed upon him by being the older sibling.

He got a vague sense it would be fun to attend UA, but he also got a vague sense it would be dangerous; as such, he had to make sure Momo wouldn't be in any danger.

There was also the fact that his Viltrumite blood sought battle, so he welcomed this vague sense of danger he felt about UA.

The two siblings gradually stopped arguing as they saw more students entering the gates of UA, with Momo quickly shutting him up by covering his mouth, as she didn't want to make a bad impression on her possible classmates.

However, much like the brother he is, he immediately licked her hand, forcing her to remove her hand from his mouth

"Taro, that's disgusting, What is wrong with you?!"

She said as she struggled to think of what to do she didn't want to wipe his germs on her uniform, so instead, she wiped it in his blazer.

"Hey don't wipe it on me, that's gross"

He grabbed her hand, stopping her from dirtying his uniform.

"It's yours already. Take it back"

She tried to resist his hold, but his super strength made it impossible.

"Out of my way extras!"

An angry voice expressed as the person it belonged to bumped into Taro and pushed him towards Momo, who took the opportunity to wipe the saliva on his uniform.

"Only an actual extra, Calls people extras but you're worse than an extra, you are an NPC"

Taro fired back at the blonde dude that seemed to have a stick up his ass.

Katsuki Bakugou turned, his face sporting an angry scowl, showing he did not appreciate the insult. He quickly got up close and stared up at the tall man before him.

"Bitch what'd you say to me?!"

"You heard me bozo, or are your ears just decorations"

"Oh you're so fucking dead"

Katsuki quickly grabbed Taro by the scruff of his blazer; however, Taro pushed him back, opening the distance between them.

"You ain't bout it, bitch!"

Katsuki charged in, his hands sparking with tiny explosions, ready to hurt the guy who seemed to think he was better than him.

Momo quickly stepped back from him and chose to carry on and walk to her class. She knew he'd be fine, plus if he gets expelled, there'll be no one to embarrass her.

Just as the two young adults were about to clash, another person stepped in between them, his hands stretched out from side to side, stopping Katsuki in his tracks.

"All right dudes, it's not manly to fight on literally the first day, like come on"

The red-headed young man spoke and successfully diffused the conflict, with Katsuki huffing in derision and turning to leave, walking away with a "whatever" as his final say.

"Dude's got problems, thanks for the assist, I didn't need it but thanks regardless"

Taro expressed as he extended his hand for a handshake and the red hair accepted, grabbing firmly.

"Don't mention it, Eijiro Kirishima, nice to meet you"

"Taro Yaoyorozu, you can call me Taro, and same"

They shook hands firmly and began walking together.

"So you're here for the hero course, too, right?"

Eijiro asked as he glanced at Taro as they walked side by side; he figured he was a foreigner or at least not natively Japanese on the count of his looks and height.

"Yeah, I imagine you are too"

"Of course I am! Nothing more manly than being a hero and saving lives, that is what I strive for!"

Eijiro responded with an unnecessary amount of gusto; Taro smiled, amused; the guy was quite energetic, that was for sure; he didn't hate that.

"I guess that's true, can't say I'm excited as you tho"

...

A/N: Tell me what you think about this? I want this to be more character-heavy with lots of interaction between characters, so tell me how this first chapter feels.

A lot of the things have been and will be changed, from how certain characters' quirks work to the canon of the story itself.

I won't include any characters from the Vigilante spin-off, mostly because I haven't read it, and I don't like writing fanfics of things I know nothing about.

The next chapter is on Sunday, powerstones, please
