Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Hard Candy

**Duncan Residence.**

"What's wrong?" Adam asked righteously, seeing the look of disdain on Emmett's face. "I'm human too."

Well, humans can't escape the law of "it smells good, so I'll eat it"!

"Adam, I've noticed you've changed so much this past year," Emmett said with a complex expression.

"People change," Adam replied calmly. He had often heard phrases like "you've changed" and "you've grown up" since he transmigrated. He had long since lost the initial tension and anxiety, taking them as compliments now.

Although being naive and innocent seemed positive and fun, it was only when you were observing others. When it came to himself, it was better to be normal. Anyway, his appearance was unremarkable, so even if he wasn't naive, others would still find him cute.

"Juno, if I get back into rock and roll, to what extent do I need to play to demonstrate so-called leadership?"

This was the huge difference between Eastern and Western cultural thinking. Adam knew that American students valued extracurricular activities, but he subconsciously used Sheldon and Leonard as benchmarks, so he didn't pay much attention to it. Now, after hearing Juno's analysis, he suddenly realized that he wasn't Sheldon or Leonard, at least he couldn't become a genius like them in a short period of time.

If he wasn't that kind of genius, and still wanted to follow the growth trajectory of a genius, he would definitely stumble.

"You should choose extracurricular activities that you enjoy, because only when you enjoy them can you continuously invest a lot of energy. Only through persistence can you achieve something and go further and higher in extracurricular activities, developing to the point of leading your peers. This is leadership," Juno explained patiently. "You liked rock and roll before, and you were good at it. Without a better option, continue to form a band and play rock and roll, participate in various competitions and activities, and strive for honors for the band. Then, as the lead singer of the band, it will naturally be a bonus."

Adam nodded slightly.

Although his predecessor was naive, he not only left him with an ordinary appearance but also a good voice and rock and roll skills. In his memory, his predecessor was soon arranged by the school to be the DJ for the school dance and even got sponsorship. When his dad's pest control company was re-advertising and looking for new songs, his predecessor also tried out. Although the lyrics were speechless, they were ultimately accepted.

In addition to his father Bob's encouragement, his predecessor's appearance and voice still had merit. Otherwise, no matter how much Bob supported his son, he wouldn't dare to use such a big event for his son to practice with.

Realizing that he had to choose an extracurricular activity as a bonus for applying to college, Adam would be foolish to give up this one with a foundation and talent.

"That's it!" Emmett exclaimed excitedly. "You shouldn't have disbanded our band. PJ and the Funky Bunch are back online, yes!"

"Hold on, hold on!" Adam waved his hand to interrupt. "Emmett, don't get excited. Even if we re-form the band, we can't use the name PJ and the Funky Bunch because I'm Adam, not PJ!"

"What's wrong with PJ? It's similar to DJ, I think it's pretty good," Emmett pouted. "You're PJ, I'm Funky, perfect!"

"How about adding me?" Juno interjected. "Actually, I also play rock and roll. I play bass guitar, so I can be your bassist."

"Of course, no problem."

Since spending time with Juno might increase his intelligence, Adam agreed without thinking. He spread his hands to Emmett, "Now that Juno has joined, we can't still be called PJ and the Funky Bunch, right?"

"Can she do it?" Emmett looked disgusted. In his eyes, a rock band was a man's romance. Girls should be in the audience clapping crazily for them. Of course, it would be even better if 'for' became 'with'. What was the point of adding a girl to the band?

Adam didn't answer directly, but just motioned to Juno with his eyes. Juno understood, got up and went to Adam's instrument, opened the guitar case, took out Adam's guitar, and played skillfully.

There is a saying in the East: "When the granaries are full, people learn etiquette; when food and clothing are sufficient, people know honor and shame."

The United States in this era was at its peak, about to dominate the world. The developed economy and abundant materials made the United States like the prosperous Tang Dynasty in the East a thousand years ago. After solving the basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter, the people paid more attention to spiritual enjoyment, with film and music being typical examples.

Even nerds like Sheldon and Leonard could play a musical instrument or two. Even if they couldn't, the most basic art appreciation was almost universal.

Juno not only played rock and roll and guitar, but she was also an expert in this area.

"Oh, damn!" An expert's skill was evident as soon as they started. When Emmett heard it, he immediately cursed, "She's really good!"

"Can I join now?" Juno released the strings and smiled playfully.

"Emmett?" Adam deliberately looked at him.

"Fine." Although Emmett was a little reluctant, he still knew what was going on. Adam was clearly going to bring Juno along. In the past, he would definitely have strongly opposed it, but now that Adam had become a guy who valued girls over friends, who knew if he would do something jerk-like and kick him out for Juno.

"So what should we be called now, a two-male, one-female group? Hey, that's a pretty good name too..."

"No way!" Adam and Juno objected in unison. The name Emmett came up with was not only vulgar but also tacky.

"How about the Hard Candy band?" Adam thought for a moment, glanced at Juno's red hoodie, and blurted out.

"Hard Candy?" Emmett said with a strange look in his eyes. "We're the hard, Juno is the candy, good name! Hehehe!"

"Ahem, should we think about it again?" Meeting Juno's strange gaze, Adam felt his scalp tingle and regretted his impulsiveness. What had he said?

This was the reason why he had always suspected Juno had another identity.

Fortunately, in this era, the term "hard candy" did not have the special meaning it would later have, at most it was like Emmett associating it with the literal meaning.

"This name is good," Juno suddenly smiled, seemingly very satisfied with the name. "Adam, you're quite talented."

"Haha, really?" Adam laughed dryly. "As long as you like it."

"Let's call it Hard Candy!" Emmett was energized. Seeing that Juno didn't object, he was more excited than Adam, the lead singer of the band. He waved his hand, as if making the final decision. "I'm the drummer and backing vocalist, Adam is the lead guitarist and lead vocalist, Juno is the bassist, and our Hard Candy band will definitely surpass the previous PJ and the Funky Bunch and reach new heights."

"Maybe we still need a keyboard player..." Adam suddenly had an idea.

A group of two people could be called a band, for example, Adam and Emmett before, one lead guitarist and lead singer, the other drummer and backing vocalist. This was the most basic configuration.

But to be a little more professional, there should be at least four people, such as Juno's self-recommended bassist, known as the soul of the band, who could play a key role in enhancing the band's performance.

In addition to the bassist, it was best to have a rhythm guitarist or keyboard player to enrich the variety of timbres, enhance the harmony effect, and compensate for the lack of range.

And Adam happened to know someone who was very suitable to be a keyboard player...
