Chapter 1 - Despair

Before the Age of Dinosaurs, a Catastrophe Struck Earth

A celestial disaster befell Earth long before the age of dinosaurs. A massive asteroid tore through the sky like the blade of a god, crashing into the planet. However, instead of annihilating life, it brought forth countless foreign creatures. These entities fused with Earth's native beings, reshaping the very fabric of existence.

Two great continents emerged:

The Grand Continent – home to humanity, where kingdoms rose and history was written.

The Dark Continent – a cursed land where monstrous beings ruled, and war never ceased.

For thousands of years, the two continents have been locked in an endless war. Blood of countless warriors has soaked the land, staining it red.

Once, a legendary knight single-handedly vanquished an army of monsters in the Dark Continent. Yet, after his greatest battle, he vanished without a trace...

In the heart of a vast city, a grand celebration was underway. The air buzzed with excitement, cheers echoing through the streets. People gathered in the town square, their eyes filled with admiration as they welcomed a new hero—the pride of the nation.

Surrounded by numerous warriors and heroes, a ten-year-old boy stood tall. He had jet-black hair, striking crimson eyes, and a delicate, youthful face.

"Everyone! From this day forward, I will fight to end this war! I will eradicate every last one of those monsters! Graaahhh! My name is Charles Angry, and I always keep my promises!"

The crowd erupted into thunderous cheers. Flowers were thrown into the air, as if the final victory had already been achieved.

A short distance away, another young boy watched the scene unfold with envy.

"Whoa... that's amazing! I want to be like that, too! I want the power to protect everyone!"

He had emerald-green eyes and ash-gray hair. His excitement was evident, but beside him, a blonde girl with sparkling blue eyes scoffed.

"Hah! Stop dreaming, Valack. You're too weak to protect anyone!"

Valack frowned. "Come on, Annie, don't be so harsh!"

"I'm just saying the truth," Annie shrugged, her tone indifferent.

Another boy, slightly older than them, chuckled. "Alright, enough teasing, you two. Who knows? Maybe you'll awaken your powers next year. You're both nine now—just one more year until your Awakening Ceremony. If you do good deeds, maybe the higher beings will notice and bless you."

As soon as he finished speaking, a thunderous boom shattered the joyous atmosphere. The ground trembled violently.

A deep, rumbling sound echoed beneath their feet.

Then—cracks split open the earth.

From the depths, massive insect-like creatures emerged. Their black exoskeletons glistened under the sunlight, their crimson eyes filled with an insatiable hunger for destruction.

Buildings collapsed in an instant. Screams filled the air. Within moments, the town square became a sea of blood and carnage. The stench of iron and death spread rapidly.

"Help me!"

"Please, someone!"

"Gyaaahhh!!!"

Desperate cries filled the air, only to be drowned out by the merciless slaughter. The sounds of agony soon faded, replaced by an eerie silence.

Sensing the danger, Valack's father grabbed his son and Annie, pushing them away.

"Run! I'll handle this!"

His roar rang through the chaos.

Valack turned, his instincts screaming at him to stay, but before he could react—a dark blur flashed before his eyes.

Slash!

Time slowed.

His father's body was ripped apart in a single instant. Blood exploded in the air, splattering across Valack's face. Flesh and organs scattered, mixing with the crimson-stained ground.

Valack couldn't breathe.

His legs trembled.

A small hand grabbed him forcefully—Annie, her face pale, tears streaming down. She pulled him away.

"Come on! We have to go!"

The monstrous creature lunged forward, ready to kill them both.

But before it could strike—

Slash!

A blade severed one of its limbs.

"Run, kids! Leave this to me!"

A sharp yet comforting voice rang out.

A woman stood before them, her long violet hair dancing in the wind. Her gaze burned with determination and deep hostility toward the creatures.

Valack's eyes widened. His body refused to move, paralyzed by the trauma. His father's blood still clung to his skin, warm yet lifeless.

He wanted to scream. He wanted to fight. But all he could do was watch.

And run.
