Heaven and Earth for thousands of years, reincarnation without end. The throne of the Heavenly Realm stands towering, while the rise and fall of the Human World unfold through the course of history, and the Demon Realm sinks into the darkness of endless struggles.
Under this sky, from the ancient times, all living beings have been separated by the will of Heaven, divided into three realms, each with its own order and rules, yet all revolve around the web of fate.
Upper Realm—The Heavenly Court, the highest place in the Three Realms, where gods and immortals reside, governed by the Jade Emperor, who claims to be a saint and determines the fate of all beings. In this world, celestial laws are absolute, life and death must follow the cycle of reincarnation. But even gods and immortals have ambitions, and the heavenly laws have never truly been fair.
Middle Realm—The Human World, the land of mortals, where emperors fight for the world, blood flows like rivers, but none can transcend the wall of life and death. This is also where cultivators seek immortality, looking up for ascension, but bowing down to the mortal realm. Somewhere among humanity, there are those who do not fully belong to the realm of humans—bloodlines hiding in the shadows, beings rejected by both heaven and earth.
Lower Realm—The Abyss, the ultimate chaos, a place where light cannot reach. There are no celestial laws, no justice; only power determines who survives. The Abyss is not merely a realm, but a place where two opposing forces coexist in the darkness.
The Demon Clan, wild beings born from the essence of heaven and earth, who absorbed the essence of the sun and moon over countless years and gradually opened their minds, cultivating to escape their instincts and take on human forms. They do not belong to the human world, nor do they bow before the Heavenly Court. From ancient times, they have established their own dominion, where the Demon Clan kingdom exists with harsh rules. But even among the clan, bloodshed never ceases. Great demon kings divide their forces, fight for power, resist the oppression of the Heavenly Court, and slaughter each other endlessly, each driven by the ambition to become the supreme ruler.
Deeper within the land of the Demon Clan, where light cannot reach, lies the Realm of Spirits, a place for wandering souls, where grudges cannot dissipate, where beings rejected by heaven and earth reside. Unlike the Demon Clan, which has life, ambition, and a cultivation path to change its fate, the Realm of Spirits is a place for beings with no other options. Deep within the Realm of Spirits, surrounded by darkness and mist, is the Underworld—the realm of reincarnation, where life and death are determined, where the souls are silently guided by the Underworld Judges across the Naihe Bridge, where the judges hold the book of life and death to impart fairness... but does fairness really exist?
Once, the Abyss was in chaos, with battles so fierce they nearly shattered the order of the Three Realms. But then the Heavenly Court sent down divine wrath, sweeping away all opposing forces. The strongest were either imprisoned or sealed away forever in forbidden lands no one dared approach. The Demon Clan weakened, the gods and spirits hid, and the Human World returned to peace under the covert control of the celestial powers.
But that was just the surface.
Behind the glory of the Heavenly Court are secrets no one knows. Those standing at the top were never satisfied with the power they held. To consolidate their position, the Heavenly Court continuously meddles with the Abyss, using the guise of "exterminating demons and evil" but actually oppressing, warning, and seizing what remains. The Demon Clan no longer has the strength to resist, but the increasingly brutal repression stirs up forgotten forces. These hunts and massacres, carried out under the name of "righteousness," not only fail to eradicate all remnants but quietly sow the seeds of hatred.
Three hundred years ago, the Heavenly Court secretly took action, creating a great catastrophe—the Blood Clan's Destruction.
The Blood Clan, an ancient branch of the Demon Clan, bore the most sinister bloodline in the Abyss. Most of them were not overly powerful, but the leaders, elders, and especially the Blood Queen, the last queen of the Blood Clan, wielded enough strength to make even the Three Realms fear them. The Heavenly Court could not tolerate a race that produced individuals strong enough to rival great demon kings, or even confront gods and immortals. The existence of such a force meant a potential threat that could not be controlled.
So they struck.
Not through the hands of the Human World, but through those who shared the same bloodline.
The Heavenly Court didn't need to massacre directly, they just needed to cause chaos, sow greed, and fan the flames of suspicion. Those who had once sworn loyalty to the Blood Clan turned their knives against each other. For power, for false promises of a different fate, the weak-willed bowed their heads, trading their loyalty for the hollow hope of the Heavenly Court.
And so, the Blood Clan fell apart from within.
The Blood Clan was surrounded and slaughtered, and the most powerful elders fought to the death in the skies. Lang Tiao stood alone against the Heavenly Court's siege, even against those she once called kin, but no matter how strong she was, she couldn't fight against the will of heaven. The ancient blood rituals were activated, and the lands were soaked with the blood of those who had once been proud. In the end, the Blood Clan was reduced to nothing but an obscure legend, a fear buried in the past.
But one life remained.
Some called him Jing Man, some knew him as Ling Xiao.
Between those two names, who was he... perhaps even he never knew.
He was not born to seek revenge, nor did he carry the will of anyone. A being that should not have existed, but to allow it to survive, his parents sacrificed everything, a name never mentioned in any history book. He was neither human nor fully demon. Bearing the blood of two incompatible lineages—he was someone who should not have appeared in this world.
Three hundred years passed, and the world had forgotten the name of the Blood Clan. The bloodline that once stirred the Three Realms was now nothing more than a faint trace in the old pages of history, no one spoke of it, nor did anyone pursue it. Those who survived either turned to ash in the bloodbath, or bowed their heads to the Heavenly Court, forsaking their bloodline for a chance at survival. Those who were once kin now stood on opposite sides—some decayed in forgotten tombs, while others donned the robes of immortals, using the title of righteousness to hide their betrayal.
But there was one who still existed.
No one knew why he remained alive. No one knew how he had survived the last three centuries. There were no traces, no rumors, it was as if he had never existed in this world.
Until one day.
A child appeared.
His body was frail, his clothes tattered, his hair matted with dust, and his eyes, a strange shade of blue, lacked the innocence of a normal child. Though there were no visible wounds, his small body exuded the strong scent of blood, as if he had just stepped out of a bloody nightmare. At only four years old, his hair was as white as frost in the winter, and his lonely figure seemed out of place in the world. He stood silently at the entrance of a damp cave, staring at the outside world like an alien to the very world he belonged to.
No one knew where he came from, nor how he had survived. But an old woman, poor and living nearby, saw him. Looking at the lonely, small child, she couldn't help but take him in.
From that day on, a child was added to the small village at the foot of the mountain.
The child was named Ling Xiao—a name that would one day shake the world—quietly stepping into his fate.
