Accidental Sparks
Episode 2: Avoidance is Impossible.
I spent the rest of movie night avoiding Mason like my life depended on it.
After the incident, I bolted to the farthest end of the couch, wedging myself between Milla and Cole, pretending to be so invested in the movie. I could still hear Mason chuckling every few minutes, like he was enjoying my suffering.
Jerk.
Milla nudged me with a knowing smirk. "You kissed him."
I groaned, covering my face. "It was an accident."
"Still happened," she sang, popping a handful of popcorn into her mouth.
Cole leaned over. "So, when's the wedding?"
I shot him a glare. "Not. Funny."
Jake chuckled. "To be fair, that was the most entertaining thing I've seen all week."
Meanwhile, Mason was sitting across the room, looking way too smug for someone who just had an accidental kiss. Every time I caught him glancing at me, he'd raise an eyebrow like he knew something I didn't.
It was infuriating.
By the time the movie ended, I was ready to go home and pretend none of this ever happened.
"Alright, I gotta head out," I announced, standing up way too fast. "Big day tomorrow. Gotta, um, sleep."
Mason snorted. "Since when do you go to bed before midnight?"
"Since now." I grabbed my bag and turned to Milla. "You coming?"
She gave me a look. "I'm staying over."
Traitor.
I turned to Jake and Cole. "Either of you—?"
Cole yawned. "Nah, I'm crashing here too."
Jake just grinned. "Guess you're stuck walking home alone."
I sighed. "Fine. See you guys—"
"I'll walk you," Mason cut in, standing up.
I froze. "What?"
He shrugged, grabbing his jacket. "It's late. You shouldn't walk alone."
I opened my mouth to protest, but Cole smirked. "Yeah, Lex. It's dangerous. Wouldn't want you tripping and accidentally kissing any strangers."
Mason smirked at me. "Guess that's my job now."
I wanted to disappear.
