Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The School Farewell Event

Lorna stood at the center of the stage, the spotlight framing her slender figure wrapped in a white ballet costume. Her long, glossy black hair was neatly arranged in a perfect bun, with a few delicate strands falling at her temples. Her breathing was steady as she tried to control the pounding of her heart, which raced in sync with the final moments before the performance began.

Behind her, several members of her team stood in formation, a result of months of dedicated practice. Their eyes gleamed with both excitement and a hint of nervousness. The grand school auditorium was packed with spectators. The front rows were occupied by teachers, the principal, and honored guests. Behind them, the senior students, soon to graduate, sat with anticipation, while their parents watched with pride. Some had already raised their phones, ready to record this performance as a keepsake.

The music began to play, the soft chimes of the piano echoing through the hall. Lorna closed her eyes for a moment, absorbing every note. As the rhythm picked up, she and her teammates began to move. Every motion was the result of exhausting months of training. Their feet moved with agility, their bodies floated as if weightless. Their tutus twirled gracefully, dancing along with the air.

Lorna led the movements with unmatched elegance. She executed a flawless pirouette, spinning swiftly yet gracefully. A few whispers of admiration arose from the audience, impressed by her skill. Her teammates followed, forming a beautifully coordinated choreography. Every step felt harmonious, every swing of an arm held meaning.

Lorna's gaze remained focused. She was well aware that this was her final performance at the senior farewell event. Though she was only a first-year student, being given the opportunity to perform on such a grand stage alongside senior dancers was an incredible honor. She wanted to give her very best.

When the solo section arrived, Lorna stepped forward. The music shifted into a slower melody, allowing her to showcase more expressive movements. She lifted one leg high, then leaped into a perfect grand jeté. The audience held their breath, some even gasping in awe. Her body hovered in the air for a few moments before landing lightly. A small smile appeared on her lips—she knew she had done it.

Among the audience, the principal smiled proudly. The teachers whispered praises to one another. Parents looked mesmerized, some even wiping away tears, deeply moved by the beauty of the performance.

For Lorna, the world at that moment consisted only of the stage, the music, and the movement of her body flowing with the melody. She ended her dance with a breathtaking final pose. The music stopped. Silence hung in the air before the hall erupted into thunderous applause.

Cheers filled the room. Some senior students whistled, while the teachers and principal clapped with admiration. Lorna bowed gracefully, followed by her teammates. They exchanged smiles, sharing the same sense of pride. All their hard work had finally paid off.

Backstage, Lorna wiped the sweat from her forehead. Her heart was still pounding, the adrenaline from the performance coursing through her veins.

"That was incredible!" said Graciel, one of her teammates, as she patted Lorna's shoulder.

"You all were amazing too," Lorna replied with a small laugh. She felt relieved and satisfied.

The dressing room was filled with laughter and excitement. The air buzzed with animated conversations as the dancers basked in the lingering rush of their performance. Their ballet costumes were still on, though some had started changing, while others held onto the moment a little longer.

"You were amazing, Lorna!" Graciel exclaimed enthusiastically, giving her a firm pat on the shoulder. "I felt like we were performing on a grand opera stage!"

"And everyone was focused on you, Lorna," added Diana, another teammate, as she worked on untangling her hair from its bun. "I almost forgot my own moves because I was too captivated watching you at the center of the stage."

Lorna let out a soft laugh, feeling her cheeks warm from the compliments. "Don't exaggerate. We all did amazing. This was a team effort."

"Still, that grand jeté of yours was perfect!" Graciel chimed in. "I could hear people in the front row gasp when you jumped. I bet even the principal was impressed."

Lorna's smile widened. She felt light, filled with happiness. After months of intense practice, the result was truly rewarding. In that moment when she was mid-air, it had felt like she was flying, as if the entire world was hers for just a second.

"Did you see the faces of our seniors?" Karina, another dancer, asked while carefully removing her ballet shoes. "They looked so touched. I even saw a few of them crying."

"I saw that too," Diana added with a smile. "I don't think they expected such a beautiful farewell performance from us. I'm glad we could give them a meaningful memory."

They all nodded in agreement. Tonight wasn't just about them; it was also about the seniors who would soon leave the school. Making them smile and feel moved was the best gift their dance team could offer.

As they continued chatting, the dressing room door swung open, revealing a woman in her forties with shoulder-length blonde hair, presumably their dance coach, who entered with an expression of pure excitement.

"You were all absolutely amazing on stage!" the woman exclaimed, her eyes shining. "Everyone is talking about how beautiful the performance was, even the teachers were praising you!"

"Seriously?" Diana's eyes widened in surprise.

The coach nodded eagerly. "Yes! I even overheard some parents saying they never expected a school performance to be this good!"

Laughter and cheers erupted in the room. Their excitement grew even more. Tonight truly felt perfect.

As the energy settled slightly, Lorna picked up her water bottle and took a slow sip. Her body was still warm from the performance, but a pleasant fatigue was beginning to seep into her muscles. She sat on a small bench in the corner of the room, letting herself savor the moment.

Meanwhile, her friends were still immersed in conversation. Some had begun uploading photos and videos to social media, sharing their joy with the outside world.

"We're definitely going viral!" Karina laughed. "I bet our video will get tons of views!"

"I hope so," Graciel said. "After all our hard work, we deserve some recognition."

Lorna only smiled at that. She wasn't someone who cared much about popularity, but if their performance could inspire or bring happiness to others, that was more than enough for her.

Outside the dressing room, the sound of footsteps gradually faded, signaling that the auditorium was emptying. The farewell event had come to an end, and most of the guests had gone home. But for Lorna and her friends, this night would always remain an unforgettable memory.
