Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – Aura Blade & the Wrong Car

SWOOSH!

The air trembled as a glowing blue sword sliced through the space. With a single slash, five zombies were cleaved in half, their black blood spraying like a fountain.

CRASH! BRAK! SPLAT!

The woman went on a rampage. Every movement was filled with raw power, her sword dancing through the air with terrifying precision.

Curled up inside the trash can, Jiang Han swallowed hard.

(Holy crap… Is that an aura blade? Is she human or a monster?)

She wasn't just slaughtering zombies—she moved like the wind itself. A spinning kick crushed a zombie's skull, her hands grabbed another by the neck and tossed it aside like a ragdoll.

Jiang Han started feeling… uneasy.

(I'm hiding while she's doing all the work? I should get out of here… before she remembers I exist and decides to kill me too!)

Slowly, he lifted the trash can lid and carefully slipped out.

CREEK…

The woman was still focused on fighting. Jiang Han took the chance to sneak away… then moved faster… then—

DASH!

He bolted at full speed, leaving the battlefield behind.

After a few blocks, he stopped to catch his breath.

"Hah… hah… I need to find a vehicle…"

In front of him, a car sat parked with blood splattered on its windows. Next to it, a dead man lay on the ground, his face mangled beyond recognition.

Jiang Han swallowed hard.

(He must have the keys… If I can find them, I can get out of here!)

Carefully, he searched the man's pockets.

RUSTLE… (Fabric rustling sounds)

Nothing.

He checked the other pocket.

ZIP! (Zipper opening sound)

The man's bag was empty too.

(Damn, his wallet!)

He grabbed the wallet and opened it with high hopes.

FLIP!

Only an ID card and some loose change.

(Wait… maybe it's in his jacket!)

He pulled at the jacket and finally—

CLINK! (A key falls to the ground)

"YES!"

Jiang Han snatched the key and rushed to the car. He inserted it into the door…

KREK!

It didn't turn.

"…?"

He tried again.

KREK-KREK!

Still nothing.

"Are you kidding me?! This isn't the right key?"

Frustrated, he took a step back, glaring at the car.

(Damn it! If the key doesn't work… then I'll just break the window!)

Without thinking, he clenched his fist and punched the glass with all his strength.

BAM!

"…Huh?"

The glass didn't break.

"…What?"

Jiang Han winced, feeling pain creep up his knuckles. But he refused to give up.

"You damn… piece of… glass!"

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The window remained intact.

"Screw this! Just break already!"

Looking around, he spotted a rock nearby.

GRAB! (Rock picked up)

WHAM!

The glass cracked.

CRACK!

The cracks spread wider.

CRASH!

The window finally shattered.

"Hah… hah…"

Jiang Han grinned in satisfaction. But the moment he reached for the door handle—

TET TET TET TET!!!

The car alarm blared.

"OH, YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!"

Panic surged through him.

Zombies in the distance turned their heads.

"…Oh no."
