Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Happy Trio

The morning sun peeked through the curtains of a cozy 2BHK apartment in the heart of the city, illuminating the shared space of two best friends—Aryan and Karan. The apartment was small but comfortable, filled with the warmth of familiarity, laughter, and the occasional mess that came with two young bachelors living together. The walls were adorned with posters of their favorite movies, a gaming console lay next to the TV, and the kitchen was stocked with instant noodles, energy drinks, and leftover pizza boxes—evidence of their carefree lifestyle.

Aryan groggily got out of bed, stretching his arms as he walked toward the kitchen. He brewed himself a strong cup of coffee, the aroma waking him up instantly. Just then, Karan entered, rubbing his eyes and yawning.

"You seriously need to stop binge-watching those crime documentaries at night," Aryan remarked, smirking.

Karan scoffed. "And you need to stop waking up this early like an old man."

They both laughed as Karan grabbed a slice of cold pizza from the fridge. As much as they teased each other, they had a bond that was unbreakable. Having been friends since college, they had navigated life together—jobs, relationships, heartbreaks, and now adulthood. Both of them worked at an IT company, spending their days coding, debugging, and dealing with demanding clients.

As they got ready for work, Aryan's phone buzzed. It was a text from Meera.

Meera: "Guys, don't be late today! We have a meeting at 10. Also, coffee's on me!"

Aryan grinned. Meera was their best friend, the glue that held their little trio together. She had joined their office a year after them, and from the moment they met, they had been inseparable. Meera was full of life, always bringing energy to the room, always knowing how to diffuse tension, and making their boring office days bearable with her humor.

Karan peeked over Aryan's shoulder. "Ah, the queen has spoken. We must obey."

"Obviously," Aryan chuckled. "We can't afford to miss free coffee."

After a quick breakfast, they hopped onto Aryan's bike and sped off to work.

A Usual Day at Work

The IT office was buzzing with employees, keyboards clicking, and the faint hum of the air conditioner filling the background. Aryan and Karan entered, heading straight for their desks. Just as they sat down, Meera appeared, holding three cups of coffee.

"There you are, gentlemen," she announced, placing the cups on their desks. "I hope you appreciate my generosity."

"Always," Aryan replied, taking a sip. "But what's the occasion?"

Meera shrugged. "No occasion. Just felt like buying coffee for my two favorite idiots."

Karan smirked. "How sweet. But are you sure you're not buttering us up for a favor?"

Meera gasped in mock offense. "Excuse me? Can't a girl be kind without an ulterior motive?"

"Not you," Aryan teased.

They all laughed, enjoying their usual morning banter. The three of them had built a rhythm at work—coding together, eating lunch at their usual table, and occasionally sneaking out early to grab drinks.

At lunch, the trio sat at their favorite corner of the cafeteria.

"So," Meera started, stirring her juice, "I have to travel for some office work in two days."

Karan raised an eyebrow. "Where to?"

"Some conference in Pune. Should be back in two days max," she said, taking a bite of her sandwich. "The seniors are coming along, so it's nothing too exciting."

Aryan nodded. "Sounds easy enough. Just don't forget to bring us something."

"Obviously." Meera rolled her eyes. "You guys treat me like I'm some delivery service."

"Because you are," Karan said with a grin, dodging the napkin Meera threw at him.

The day went by as usual—meetings, deadlines, and the occasional break where they huddled together to gossip about their colleagues. As the clock struck 6 PM, they packed up, ready to leave.

"Drinks at our place?" Aryan suggested.

Meera grinned. "You know I never say no to that."

A Night to Remember

At their apartment, the trio sat on the balcony, drinks in hand, watching the city lights twinkle. The air was filled with laughter as they reminisced about old memories.

"Remember when Aryan had a crush on that senior in college?" Meera teased.

Aryan groaned. "Oh God, please don't bring that up."

Karan smirked. "Oh, we are bringing it up. What was her name? Riya?"

"No, that was his second crush. The first one was Neha!" Meera exclaimed.

Aryan covered his face while his two best friends laughed. Moments like these made life feel perfect. No worries, no stress—just the comfort of friendship.

As the night deepened, they made plans for the weekend, promising to meet up again after Meera returned from her trip.
