Chereads / Taming the Omega / Chapter 4 - 4. Alpha Josh

Chapter 4 - 4. Alpha Josh

"Alpha, there are some guests that will like to schedule a meeting." I take my eyes off the blonde, gorgeous girl. Her clothes cling to her, the white skin of her tummy is exposed. Her eyes are brownish-black, you find yourself lost in them. I fight the urge to take her hands in mine and never let go.

Roy shifts his legs to and fro. I follow him out of the forest and into the clearing. Plenitude of men are dressed to their abilities, each presenting their daughters or someone they want me to meet.

My wolf is alerted. He growls and leaps like a dog. I wonder if I will meet her again. An empty feeling settles in me, and I realize that I yearn to be in her company.

'Mate.' he springs as if to inform me that I have met my mate already. Could she be? Is that why I feel empty within?

"Who was that, Roy?" He checks the time on his watch. The worry lines on his forehead are visible. Whoever she is, he doesn't approve of her.

"An Omega, Alpha." He bows despite the expression on his face. Is my mate an Omega? Is that why I haven't found her all these years?

"Which section does she work for?" He opens the door to the black BMW and I slide in. He settles in the passenger seat beside Jack. The Community Centre is just a few minutes walk. Still, we need to leave an impression on the people.

Roy doesn't make an effort to answer, which annoys the hell out of me. My wolf is curious, he is so excited I try hard to keep my composure.

"Haven't I asked you a question, Roy?" I use my Alpha voice. It keeps one in a trance and under my control. Roy splurts out. "I have no idea but I will inquire about it, Alpha."

Jack is taken aback, he smiles at a riled Roy. "What's this all about?"

Neither Roy nor I answer his question. Roy starts the ignition. We are two hours early, and if I had it my way, I would still be going through paperworks in the Mainland. But dad has to step in. Damn him.

Instead of driving straight to the Community Centre, Roy makes a U-turn for the main building where the Omegas reside. The building stands so tall against the vast land, and the mountain behind it looks miniature compared to its magnificent size. It's the first time I'm here.

I'm a little bit disappointed that my mate turns out to be an Omega. An Omega cannot rule, few Alphas are mated to one. She looks so young. If she is only eighteen that will be unreasonable. A kid cannot be a Luna. My dad found his mate, my mom, during a meeting for the Alphas. She was in line to be one. Although female Alphas are uncommon, they're not unheard of. My dad describes the moment as 'divine' it was destined and they were meant for. They were both eighteen and the engagement was settled between the families. With two Alphas managing the assets, the state was sure to succeed. And it did.

I must reject her. My wolf is mad at me. He might be for a while but he can't stay forever. He might even grow to appreciate the choices I make. Whatever I do is for the betterment of the pack. My mom wouldn't have liked it, but she would be darn proud of me for keeping everything under control.

The car skeaks and stops at a shed just few meters away from the building. Roy steps out, his footsteps audible until it's not the farther he walks.

When Roys enters the building, Jack props both his arms on the headrest and leans forward. "You've found your mate haven't you?"

Nothing passes by Jack. He is my beta for a reason, we grew up together, played in the mud, and discovered our wolves on the same day. I close my eyes exasperatedly. I am going to reject her, there's no use of him knowing about her existence.

"No." I clench my hands into fists and keep them firmly on my thighs. I loosen the tie.

He eyes me. He doesn't buy it. Yet, he nods and resumes his previous position, facing the front.

Roy comes back with an old woman who drags her foot. He knocks on my window---I open the door and step out.

"It's a pleasure to have you here, Alpha. I'm really sorry if Zara has offended you. May I ask for forgiveness instead of her." She bows her grey-haired head. Roy touches her on the arm and she stands still.

So, Zara is her name. What an interesting name for a minute creature like her. I thread my fingers in and out of my stubbles. The woman visibly shrinks when I stare.

"Which section does Zara works in?" I'm aware that Omegas have divided duties but I can't name the categories. I fill in the catalogue and supply equipments when needed.

She casts her eyes down, and whispers. Is someone a threat here? And what the hell is going on?

"She works for Lara."

I hate old women. They always assume you know what they are referring to. She wants me to know who Lara is or is it Larry all of a sudden. I frown.

She smiles weakly as if realizing her mistake. "The head cook. She works in the kitchen."

I picture her wiping the counter, or turning the spoon in the pot. The image of her licking soup off her finger turns me on.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Roy thanks the woman and we are off to the community Centre. What I really want to do, is go back to the woods under the apple tree, and reject her. But I can't do that in the company of these two. Roy is annoyed I have gotten him mixed in, and Jack suspects I have a mate.

As we drive by, the more determined I have become; I'm going to reject Zara.
