Chapter 1 - FINALIZING THE WEDDING

Luna Lee and her fiancé, Andrew Lucas, along with his parents, were having an open forum at their house. The parents were discussing their upcoming wedding, with only one week left before the end of November. Luna clearly did not want this wedding, especially upon realizing that her parents were forcing her to marry the son of a billionaire businessman. Due to her parents' successful investments in the billionaire's company, the two families had become friends and decided to arrange this marriage for the future of the company, as both Luna and Andrew had graduated with Business degrees.

"I think this wedding gown looks pretty on her. What do you think?" suggested Andrew's mom.

"I think this one looks pretty on her. What do you think, Luna?" her mom asked.

Luna did not answer her mother's question and immediately ran when she found herself unable to resist this kind of trap. She knew her parents would only use her for the future of their company. Both families were surprised by her behavior, but Luna's parents tried to calm them. She stayed in her room, sobbing on her bed. Despite repeatedly expressing her reluctance to marry Andrew Lucas, her parents continued to pressure her into marrying the man they had chosen for her. Andrew was surprised and decided to follow her upstairs, knocking on the door twice and calling her name.

"Luna, are you okay? Can I come in?"

Luna continued sobbing and ignored his words. Andrew was not content and texted her, even trying to call her. The phone rang and vibrated on the table, but Andrew did not know how to comfort his fiancée. A while later, the maid informed Andrew that the family was waiting for him in the kitchen for dinner. When he relayed this message to Luna, she did not get up and continued sobbing. Andrew sighed, feeling helpless, and went straight downstairs to the kitchen, disappointed. Luna's mom informed the family that they would talk to Luna after dinner. She lied, saying Luna might not be feeling well, even though she knew Luna disagreed with their arrangement. The Lucas Family agreed.

Both families had already chosen Luna's wedding gown and their wedding rings. Seeing his fiancée's distressed behavior, Andrew went upstairs to bid her goodbye and told her he would see her on their wedding day. Feeling hopeless, Luna had nothing to do but cry. The Lucas Family had already left, and both of her parents headed to her room. However, seeing her was not easy. Her dad angrily left her door when she did not show up, except for her mom. Her mom controlled her anger and tried to find a way inside. She tried to convince Luna, but her efforts were in vain. Luna finally opened the door, hoping her mom would help her make the wedding impossible. Unfortunately, it was the opposite of what she expected.

"The wedding is approaching, and we have chosen this wedding gown. The designer will meet you tomorrow, Luna. Stop being difficult. This is to enhance your dad's company's image and increase popularity."

"I've already told you, Mom. I don't want this arranged marriage. Please, Mom. I can't marry Andrew Lucas. I don't love him."

Luna received a slap from her mom, not because it was hard, but because of the emotional pain of not being listened to.

"How many times do I have to remind you of our deal? Can't you see how much the Lucas Family desires the wedding and envisions a more successful business? Use your brain, Luna. Stop behaving like a child. You're 27 years old and should be mature."

"I know I'm mature, Mom. But marrying a man I don't like is unbearable. How can I be happy if you, as my parents, use me to enhance the company's image for popularity? Please, Mom, listen to me. I don't want this wedding to happen."

"You will marry him, Luna! Your wedding day is set. Stop talking nonsense. You and Andrew will be a couple, the faces of the company's image. It's about our friendship and the company's image."

"But I really don't like him, Mom! Why don't you consider my feelings first? Can't you see I'm unhappy with him? How can I be happy if I don't love him? I can't accept this."

"And what do you expect, Luna? Your mom and I have worked hard to enhance the company's image. Stop acting like you're in a difficult situation. You will marry that man. We made the right choice to secure your position in the company. That's the final decision, Luna," said her dad, when he showed up.

Feeling hopeless and in need of help, Luna sat on the floor after her parents left the room. The elegant wedding gown in the brochure seemed meaningless to her if she did not deserve to marry her groom.

As hours passed, only loneliness and hopelessness filled her room. Her parents were using her, and if that continued, she would be trapped forever. Her phone kept ringing and vibrating on the table as she ignored her fiancé's calls and messages. Holding the brochure, she threw it into the trashcan, unable to control her emotions. It was really difficult for them to listen to her side, and she felt like there was only one person she truly liked. The night was quiet, giving her a brief moment of respite. It was 9 o'clock when she looked at the clock.

She stared at the clock seriously. Then, she glanced at her cabinet, next to her closet and file cabinet. Her world was spinning, and she was unsure of what she was supposed to do or choose. Her phone continued to ring incessantly. Andrew was persistent. Now, she had to make her choice.

"I'm so sorry, Mom, Dad, but I can't see myself marrying a man I don't like. I'm sorry. Please forgive me for my decision. I won't marry Andrew Lucas."

She secured the door lock before she could start her plans. She must hurry before it's too late.
