Born into involuntary exile and marked by danger since birth, Aegor II has never forgotten about the injustices and wrongs he and his family have endured in support of the black dragon, and the lineage of the king who bore the sword. Since the death of his cousin, Maelys the Monstrous, during the Ninepenny War, he has spent years contemplating his next moves, whether to launch a hopeless invasion as his namesake would have done, or to endlessly prepare. Now, as the captain-general of the Golden Company, he set his sight on conquering the stepstones and claiming it's throne, like his ancestor Daemon Targaryen. But his banners will no longer bear the black dragon, but instead the winged stallion.

Attention is a given but they will be too focused on the disputed lands for the most part, and I'm going to see if an alliance with either lys or tyrosh would be viable. The celtigars from what I recall are extremely loyal, but seem to have been ignored for many years. 

Aegor will have to build up for a decent bit to even try to change the stepstones into more of a feudal system but the majority of the islands are barren and worthless. He will have a decent bit of golden company soldiers so the army will be good for a while. The major thing is though that it probably won't come close in his lifetime to take the iron throne.

Your idea for Aegor is good, but once he conquers the Stepstones, it will attract everyone's attention—especially Lys, Myr, and Tyrosh, as the pirates there are, as far as I know, their men.

As for marriage, perhaps a Celtigar girl or a bastard daughter from their house. I believe House Celtigar is one of the most overlooked noble houses by both the author and the Targaryens. Like the Velaryons, they lived under Targaryen rule for centuries, yet not a single Targaryen prince or princess ever married into House Celtigar.

Maybe Aegor could first establish a small settlement on the coast of Volantis and gradually build up his army, fleet, and trained men there.

The disputed lands and the three sisters are targets, just too strong of a force to deal with at the moment. Bloodstone would also give some legitimacy as a true contender

while it breaks my heart to have a descendant of bittersteel no longer fight for the blackfyres, you gotta understand that there are no more men from the male line and that aerion the chad is a targaryen. there are no more valid unless we go through female line but be real yk? i'll see if i can find any to marry off to aegor but its to be seen

will be deleted and replaced when i have a decent prologue, this will not have any dragons though, maybe magic if i can be bothered to learn how it works in the legacy of valyria submod.
