The sound of sirens filled the air as the police arrived at Elena's house. She watched as they poured out of their cars, surrounding the two men who had tried to kill her.
The officers quickly took control of the situation, handcuffing the two men and reading them their rights. Elena felt a sense of relief wash over her as she realized that the ordeal was finally over.
One of the officers, a kind-faced woman with a gentle smile, approached Elena. "Ma'am, can you tell us what happened?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern.
Elena took a deep breath and began to recount the events of the day. She told the officer about the two men who had tried to kill her, about how they had thrown her off the balcony, and about how Zamiel had saved her.
The officer listened intently, her eyes never leaving Elena's face. When Elena finished speaking, the officer nodded thoughtfully.
"So, let me get this straight," the officer said. "These two men threw you off the balcony, but you're still alive?"
Elena nodded, feeling a sense of confusion. "Yes, that's right. I don't know how I survived."
The officer exchanged a skeptical glance with her partner. "Ma'am, if they threw you off the balcony, you should be dead. Can you explain to me how you're still alive?"
Elena shook her head, feeling a sense of frustration. "I don't know. I just know that I was falling, and then...and then Zamiel caught me."
The officer's eyes narrowed. "Zamiel? Who's that?"
Elena turned to look around the room, but Zamiel was nowhere to be found. "I...I don't know where he is now," she said. "But he was here. He saved me."
The officer's expression was skeptical, and she exchanged a glance with her partner. "So, let me get this straight," the officer said. "This Zamiel guy just happened to be around and caught you in mid-air?"
Elena nodded, feeling a sense of confusion. "Yes, that's right."
The officers exchanged a skeptical glance, and one of them raised an eyebrow. "Ma'am, that sounds like something out of a superhero movie. Can you tell us more about how he saved you?"
Elena hesitated, unsure of how to explain the impossible. "I...I don't know," she said. "He just did."
The officers looked at each other, clearly confused. "Anyway, we'll look into it," one of them said. "We'll check the CCTV cameras and see if we can find anything."
Then one of the officers spoke up.The officer's eyes narrowed, his expression skeptical. "Do you have any idea of who might want to hurt you?" he asked, his voice firm.
Elena shook her head, feeling a sense of frustration. "I don't know," she repeated. "I don't want to suspect any of my family members...I just don't know."
The officer leaned forward, his eyes boring into Elena's. "Think carefully, Miss Elena," he said. "Anyone who might have a grudge against you?"
Elena's mind racing, she thought back to her family, her friends, her acquaintances. But she couldn't think of anyone who might want to hurt her.
"Besides," she added, "I don't even know how they found out where I stay. None of my family members know my address."
The officer's expression turned thoughtful, and he nodded. "We'll look into it," he said. "See if we can find any leads."
Elena's heart skipped a beat as she realized the implications. What if the cameras had caught Zamiel's impossible rescue? What would the police make of it?
As the officers continued to question her, Elena couldn't shake the feeling that she was in over her head. She had no idea what Zamiel was capable of, or what his true motives were. All she knew was that she owed him her life, and that she would never forget the way he had saved her.
As Sophia, Elena's mother, turned the corner onto her street, she was surprised to see a cluster of police cars parked outside her house. Her heart skipped a beat as she wondered what could have happened.
The police officers were standing outside her house, talking to each other in hushed tones.
Sophia's heart began to pound in her chest as she quickened her pace, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios. What if something had happened to Elena? What if she was hurt?
As she approached the police officers, one of them turned to her and nodded. "Ma'am, can we help you?" he asked.
Sophia's eyes darted past the officer and landed on the open front door of her house. She could see Elena sitting on the couch, surrounded by police officers.
Sophia's heart flew into her throat as she rushed past the officer and into the house. "Elena, oh my god, what's wrong?" she exclaimed, rushing over to her daughter.
Elena looked up at her mother, a mixture of relief and fear on her face. "Mom, I'm okay," she said, trying to reassure her.
But Sophia was having none of it. "What happened?" she demanded, her eyes scanning Elena's face and body for any signs of injury. "Are you hurt?"
Elena shook her head, taking a deep breath. "I'll tell you everything, Mom," she said. "But first, can we please just get the police to leave?"
Sophia's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. But she nodded, knowing that Elena would tell her everything once they were alone.
The police officers, sensing the tension in the room, began to pack up their things. "We'll be in touch, Miss Elena," one of them said. "And we'll do our best to find out who was behind this."
As the police officers left, Sophia turned to Elena, her eyes demanding answers. "Now, tell me what happened," she said, her voice firm but worried.
Elena's mother, Sofia, sat down next to her on the couch, concern etched on her face. Elena took a deep breath and said, "Mom, I think somebody is trying to kill me."
Sofia's eyes widened in shock. "Who could that be, Elena?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Elena stood up, backing away from her mother. "I have no idea," she said, shaking her head. "I don't know."
Sofia's face scrunched up in thought. "Could it be Clara?" she asked.
Elena shook her head again. "Mom, that's what I don't know. I don't even know how they found out where I live."
Elena sat back down close to her mother, feeling a sense of fear wash over her. "Mom, I'm just so scared."
Sofia pulled Elena into a warm hug. "It's okay, it's okay," she soothed. "I'm here now. You're safe."
Elena rested her head on her mother's lap, feeling a sense of comfort in her presence.
But then Elena suddenly sat up, looking at her mother with a curious expression. "Mom, where did you go to?" she asked.
Sofia's face clouded over, and she shook her head. "No, no, no. Let's not talk about that right now. I'm here now, so you should calm down."
Elena's eyes narrowed, sensing that her mother was hiding something. But before she could press the issue, Sofia changed the subject.
"By the way, your wedding is in two days," Sofia reminded Elena.
Elena's face fell, and she looked down at her hands. "I know, Mom."
Sofia's eyes searched Elena's face. "Elena, do you love this guy you're getting married to?" she asked.
Elena hesitated, looking up at her mother. "Should I tell you the truth, Mom?" she asked.
Sofia nodded, her expression serious. "Yes, tell me the truth."
Elena took a deep breath. "Mother, I don't have any feelings for this guy at all."
Sofia's eyes widened in surprise. "Then why are you getting married to him?" she asked.
Elena's shoulders slumped in defeat. "Because dad wants me to marry him, Mom. Dad is forcing me to."
Here's the revised scene:
Elena's voice was laced with frustration and exhaustion. "Mom, he's using me as a tool to gain more power and more fame by getting me married. So, Mom, I'm like a...a pawn in his game."
Sofia's eyes filled with concern and sadness as she looked at her daughter. Elena's shoulders slumped in defeat, and her eyes looked sunken, as if she hadn't slept in days.
Elena continued, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm so tired, Mom. I'm tired of everything. I'm tired of being used, tired of being manipulated, tired of being treated like a mere object."
Sofia's face contorted in anguish as she listened to her daughter's words. She could see the desperation in Elena's eyes, the feeling of being trapped and helpless.
Without a word, Sofia pulled Elena into a tight hug, holding her close as if she could protect her from the world. Elena buried her face in her mother's shoulder, feeling a sense of comfort and security wash over her.
For a long moment, they just held each other, the only sound being Elena's muffled sobs. Sofia stroked her daughter's hair, whispering softly, "It's going to be okay, baby. I'm here for you. We'll figure this out together."
*************************
Maya burst into her mother's room, her face flushed with urgency. Clara, who was sitting on the bed, phone pressed to her ear, looked up at her daughter with a mixture of annoyance and curiosity.
"I'll call you back," Clara said into the phone, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Something's come up."
As soon as Clara hung up the phone, Maya blurted out the news. "Mom, there's fire on the mountain!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with panic.
Clara's expression changed from calm to concerned in an instant. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice low and even.
Maya took a deep breath before delivering the blow. "Those guys we sent to eliminate Elena...they've been caught."
Clara's face went white as she processed the information. She looked like she had been punched in the gut. For a moment, she just sat there, her mouth hanging open in shock.
Then, she sprang into action. "Find out what's happening," she barked at Maya. "Get me all the information you can."
Maya nodded and turned to leave, but Clara's voice stopped her. "Wait!" Clara exclaimed. "We need to do something. We need to silence those people. They can't be allowed to talk."
Maya turned back to her mother, a look of alarm on her face. "What do you mean, Mom?" she asked, even though she knew exactly what Clara was suggesting.
Clara's eyes were cold and hard. "I mean, we need to make sure they don't talk. We need to silence them. Permanently."
Maya's eyes widened in horror, but Clara just nodded. "Do whatever it takes, Maya. Just make sure those people don't talk."
Maya nodded, feeling a sense of dread wash over her. She knew what her mother was asking her to do, and she knew it wasn't right. But she also knew that she had no choice. She had to do what her mother said, no matter what.
