Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Girls Are The Scariest Thing

Finally, after sending Might Dai away, Simu thought he could finally get some proper sleep.

But just as he was about to relax, Namikaze Minato walked over.

"Might Dai sure is full of energy," Minato remarked, watching Dai's retreating figure with a smile. "You two are complete opposites."

Simu waved his hand dismissively. "It doesn't matter how energetic he is."

"The ninja world is a scary place. I just want to make some money, come back to Konoha, and live a comfortable life."

Minato kept his hands in his pockets, his usual calm smile on his face. "That sounds just like you."

At the podium, students were already checking the team assignments.

Among them was Might Dai, loudly complaining about not being on the same team as Simu-kun.

Simu's face darkened. This guy sounded way too much like a heartbroken woman. It sent a shiver down his spine.

Minato chuckled at Simu's expression.

"Speaking of which, don't you care who your teammates are?" Minato asked seriously.

After all, having reliable teammates and a capable instructor was crucial for rookies to survive on the battlefield.

Simu shook his head indifferently.

If it were before, he might have been concerned. But after obtaining the Light-Light Fruit last night, he now had the confidence to handle danger.

Worst case scenario, if things went south, he could always abandon his teammates and escape.

That said, the Third Hokage wouldn't assign them life-threatening missions right away.

With the Six Powers and the Light-Light Fruit, he was confident in his safety.

"You're really carefree," Minato sighed.

Just as Simu was about to respond, a loud commotion erupted.

Kushina suddenly rushed toward them, slamming her hands onto the table with such force that it nearly flipped over.

"Minato! Simu!" she exclaimed. "We're teammates!"

Minato, momentarily overwhelmed by Kushina's energy, stammered, "Y-Yeah… Really? That's great."

Kushina narrowed her eyes dangerously.

"What's with that reaction? Are you unhappy about being on my team?" she asked coldly.

"No, no! Not at all!" Minato quickly denied.

Simu raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected to be teamed up with Minato and Kushina.

One was the Nine Tails Jinchūriki. The other was the future Fourth Hokage.

He let out a sigh.

Looks like I'll be continuing my easygoing lifestyle.

At least with these two around, safety was somewhat assured.

After all, as a Jinchūriki, Kushina would likely have Anbu watching over her.

And Minato was Minato.

As for himself?

He could just clean up small fry and leave the real threats to them.

Trying to shift the conversation, Minato quickly asked, "By the way, Kushina, who's our team leader?"

At the mention of their instructor, Kushina finally let Minato off the hook.

She crossed her arms and huffed, "It's Jiraiya."

"Jiraiya-sama?!"

Minato's eyes immediately lit up.

Ever since the Second Shinobi World War, the name of the Legendary Sannin—Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade—was known by everyone.

Countless young ninjas saw them as idols.

Minato was no exception.

The moment he heard Jiraiya would be their instructor, he was filled with excitement.

The other students around them also showed looks of envy and admiration.

After all, being trained by Jiraiya meant being directly taught by one of the Third Hokage's students.

If you rounded things off, it almost felt like you were next in line to be Hokage.

But unlike Minato and the others, Kushina seemed oddly hesitant.

"What's wrong?" Minato asked, noticing her hesitation. "Isn't it great that Jiraiya-sama is our instructor?"

Kushina hesitated for a moment before whispering, "I heard Jiraiya-sama often sneaks into the women's bathhouse to peek at people bathing…"

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Minato nearly choked on his own breath.

"H-Hey! Don't go spreading baseless rumors!" he quickly interrupted, trying to salvage Jiraiya's reputation.

Kushina pouted, clearly unimpressed.

Meanwhile, Simu grinned from ear to ear.

So Jiraiya's infamous perverted reputation had already started spreading, huh?

After chatting for a while, Minato glanced at the time.

"It's almost time. Should we head to the meeting spot?"

Simu had no objections. With his hands behind his head, he lazily followed Minato and Kushina.

"Simu, you're so unmotivated. No girl will ever like you," Kushina teased.

Simu, still wearing his dark sunglasses, glanced at her.

"Girls are terrifying creatures."

"What did you just say?"

Kushina's expression instantly darkened. Without hesitation, she threw a punch at Simu.

Fortunately, he had anticipated this and used Shave to dodge in an instant.

"I just said, girls are scary," he repeated, landing a few feet away.

"Stop running!" Kushina growled.

Minato sighed, rubbing his forehead.

These two are really…
