Chapter 6 - Shadows and Light

Kieran sat perched on the edge of a towering skyscraper, the city sprawling beneath him like a labyrinth of light and shadow. The night wind brushed against his skin, carrying the distant hum of traffic and the occasional burst of sirens. A year had passed since he had rejected the world's expectations, since he had chosen exile over execution. But for all his wandering, he was no closer to understanding what he was meant to do.

What now? The thought weighed on him. He had seen too much—too much suffering, too much cruelty. He had sworn not to kill, but what good was that promise if he did nothing? If he let monsters roam free while he sat on rooftops, drowning in uncertainty?

Every night was the same. He watched from above, feeling like an outsider to the world he had once been a part of. People passed below him, unaware of the things that lurked in the shadows, the horrors he had witnessed during his travels.

His fingers curled against the cold metal railing. He needed a sign. A reason to act.

Then, he saw her.

Far below, walking along the dimly lit street, was a girl. She moved with delicate precision, as though each step was carefully measured. Even from this height, there was something entrancing about her—the way her hair caught the flickering neon lights, the way her posture carried a quiet strength.

But then, from the shadows, they emerged.

Three figures. Twisted. Mutated. Their bodies bulked unnaturally, their skin stretched over grotesque muscle formations. The air around them seemed wrong, as though they carried something dark with them.

They closed in behind the girl, and Kieran's breath caught.

Then, without hesitation, they moved.

One of them grabbed her wrist. She froze.

he said "guy's we have found tonight's entertainment let's enjoy her shall we"

other one put's his hand on her leg slowly lifting it up and then he said "hmm-soft like flower it's a shame today this flower will rot"

third one grab's her breast and said "look boy's full of milk"

her face look's like she was ready to cry and scream what all inside her.

from above Kieran was already falling.

The impact was silent. Kieran landed just outside the alley's entrance, his movements fluid, calculated. The three mutants barely had time to register his presence before he was upon them.

The first attack came from the left—a brute with a grotesquely elongated arm swung at him like a hammer. Kieran ducked, feeling the force of the swing cut through the air just inches above his head. Before the thug could recover, Kieran pivoted low, sweeping his leg beneath him. The brute collapsed, slamming into the ground with a growl.

The second attacker lunged forward, fangs glistening in the dark, his maw too wide for a normal human. Kieran caught his wrist mid-strike, twisting just enough to dislocate the joint without breaking it. The mutant howled in pain as Kieran drove his knee into his stomach, sending him staggering backward.

The third was fast—too fast. He closed the distance in a blink, a knife flashing toward Kieran's ribs. But Kieran's instincts were faster. He twisted at the last second, catching the assailant's wrist, flipping him into the alley wall.

The thug crumpled, groaning, but alive.

Kieran exhaled.

He had won. And he hadn't killed.

Yet something inside him still roared. The primal force that had awakened within him after escaping the ice still called for domination, for destruction. He could hear his own heart pounding, feel the dormant instincts that begged him to finish what he started.

But he wouldn't. Not again.

A soft voice broke the silence. "You fight without intent to kill."

Kieran turned, surprised to see the girl standing completely still, her expression unreadable.

She hadn't run.

She hadn't screamed.

She had simply waited.

It was only then that Kieran noticed something—the way her gaze didn't quite focus, the way her hands traced the air subtly as though feeling the space around her.

She was blind.

Kieran took a slow step forward. "Are you alright?"

The girl tilted her head. "I knew they were there. I just didn't know if someone would stop them."

Kieran frowned. "You knew?"

A small, knowing smile touched her lips. "I may not see, but I can sense far more than most."

Kieran stared at her for a long moment, realization settling in.

Tonight, he had found his answer. A reason to fight.
