Chapter 1 - It all happened...Long ago

It all happened 10 years ago... These portals we call "Gates" opened worldwide. Monsters poured out like crazy, it was especially bad in Seoul. Regular weapons didn't work on them. Guns and bombs were basically useless... However, we were not without salvation... Normal people awakened and gained crazy powers, the kind of things you'd see in manhwas. We call them [Blazers] people you'd see doing all manner of supernatural shenanigans. Controlling the elements, people create barriers, using swords and all manner of weapons to hunt the monsters back into their gates. The pushback of humanity, especially in Korea, started when someone picked up a melee weapon and stabbed a monster, killing it instantly. On that day, the first [Dropped Item] graced our world. From that point on, a Husband-Wife Duo started Humanity's counterattack.

"Do-Yun! How long are you going to stay in your room!?" A female voice pierces through his thoughts. "We gotta get to school!" "Ah...That's my childhood friend... Eun-Ji..." Do-Yun quickly gets dressed, throwing on his uniform, grabbing his half-finished homework, and shoes, and fitting them onto his feet before opening his window and jumping out, closing the window from the outside, and jumping down onto the grass bed.

"Sorry Eun-Ji!" Do-Yun jogs to her side.

"Yeah, Yeah, we have 30 minutes, we can make it if we run," Eun-Ji said as she ran ahead of me.

"Got it." Do-Yun runs with her, watching her figure. Her school sweater was tied around her waist, and her form looked perfect as if she was dead sprinting toward school.

"Shouldnt we!" Do-Yun began to lose his breath "Get a Taxi!?" Do-Yun said between breaths.

"We don't have the time to wait! We can't afford the time to wait, because of you! So run!" Eun-Ji critiqued him, bringing up his tendency to get up late. "What do you do during the night!?"

"Nothing! I swear! I'm just a heavy sleeper!"

After getting to school, in just a nick of time, they took their seats just before roll call.

"I was almost late because of you." Eun-Ji sneered, clearly pretty mad at me. "I'm all sweaty now..." she groaned, still disappointed.

"Sorry, sorry, I'll set an alarm next time..." Do-Yun said, with a laid-back yet somewhat disappointed look on his face.

"Quiet!" their teacher raised her voice as the rest of the class became quiet as roll call started, after that, class was a blur of lessons and boredom.

Eun-Ji and Do-Yun began to walk home, their dynamic was a simple one, the conversations on the other hand, were not. Do-Yun and Eun-Ji walked without saying a word to each other until he dropped her off, greeted her mother, then said goodbye, beginning to walk home, until he passed by a stall, selling these unique skating shoes, that looked like regular sneakers but had wheels in it. so he walked up to them.

"Hello, what are these all about?" I pick up a box of skating shoes, looking at it

"Hello sir, this is just a giveaway. We're trying to get rid of this stock." The salesman said.

"Then is it fine if I just...Take one?" Do-Yun asked

"go right ahead," The salesman said, nodding.

"Thank you!" Do-Yun nodded back, holding the box close to his chest, but as it got dark, he looked up at the sky, stopping in his tracks, it was a special day as Do-Yun had forgotten that today was the day of a meteor shower.

He watched on, until a small, molten rock landed at his feet, making a crater.

"Holy-!" Do-Yun jumped back, nearly dropping the box he held close, looking at the asteroid fragment, it was black with a faint blue glow to but seemed to have the shape of a crude wheel.

"Woah..." Do-Yun crouched down, looking at the steaming meteor fragment.

"Hold It." a voice commanded him, quietly and subtly.

"What?" Do-Yun jolted, then looked around, then looked back at the meteor fragment

"Touch it. Hold it." The voice became slightly stern.

Who are you? What is this!?" Do-Yun asked, but the voice didn't respond. He then groaned, paced around, and grimaced. "Fine!" Do-Yun yelled, and against his better judgment, picked up the meteor fragment. It was warm, but not hot to the touch, and he gripped it.

The meteor fragment cracked and emitted a blinding blue light, blinding Do-Yun, and making him drop his box but nothing changed. He didn't feel anything different with his body. Do-Yun, mildly irritated, clicks his tongue, puts the fragment in his bag, picks up the box, and rushes home.

"TMP TMP... TMP TMP TMP TMP TMP...!" Do-Yun's footsteps were audible as he ran home, his irritation giving way to mild excitement as he realized he could brag about gaining a meteor fragment, thinking it could be a trophy, or even better, valuable and could be sold for money. He slows down, opens the door, goes in, letting the door close shut behind him, and then locks the door.

"I'm home! Do-Yun yelled as he took off his shoes, then went up the stairs and into his room, putting down the box he held on his desk in his room, then put the small meteor fragment on a shelf, then left, changed clothes, and went to sleep. As Do-Yun slept, the fragment moved, falling onto his bed where he would put his hand on it, it glowed fiercely all night, then stopped.Â
