Chapter 1 - Alexander the Fail

The hell?

Why won't this thing turn on?

"Forget it, I'm going to be late for school if I don't hurry." Shawn is frustrated that his phone is not working; he remembered charging it last night, but it's not important now. He will be late for school if he doesn't get out of bed now.

"What will I do without this thing? Man, this day's gonna suck so much" he muttered to himself.

Without wasting any more time, he hopped into a shower. After he was done, he just picked any clothes he saw, got dressed, and ran downstairs to eat breakfast. Of course, he was in a hurry, so he consumed the food as if he were a blackhole himself. In a hurry, he rushed to the school as fast as he could.

It was exactly 8 o'clock when he got to school. The bell was ringing so hard, it was very unusual, but the boy didn't ponder further, thinking a new bell was installed or something; his first subject was math, of course it's not everybody's favorite, Shawn also didn't like this subject that much.

He got into his seat and placed his bag on the floor, ready to study.

The teacher entered the class and taught the lesson as usual. Shawn, however, didn't pay attention to the lesson that much.

Man, this thing sucks. What's the point of calculus anyway? It's not like I'm going to use it or anything." He thought, unbeknownst to him, he accidentally said it out loud. The whole class turned to him in dead silence.

"What?" Shawn didn't realize what he had done.

"Maybe you will or maybe you won't use it; it doesn't matter. What matters is that you pay attention to my class and stop interrupting." The teacher finally spoke. His face didn't show any emotion, but everybody knew that he was mad; after all, the marker in the teacher's hand had just broken in half.

"Also, Shawn, visit my office after class." He knows he's in very big trouble. He said nothing, and the lesson went on like normal.

Shawn was bored. He was thinking of anything he could to keep his mind occupied; he wanted to go home so bad, even though it was just the first period.

Shawn is humming the lyrics. Suddenly, the lights blinded his vision, he didn't know what happened.

"What the hell is this? Is it because of the song? Nah." After a few moments, the lights faded, and he regained his vision, though not clearly. The sight, however, is nothing like the classroom he once in. The place seemed to be a grand hall where corridors from all directions converged."

Just then, there is a person approaching him, the figure seems to be a man in his 60s

Shawn asked, "Who are you?" confused.

The man was ready to answer, but the vision of Shawn began to get clearer until he could see the figure clearly; he suddenly spoke in surprise,

"Albert Einstein!?"

The man nodded. "It's about time you figured out."

"But that's impossible! you're supposed to be dead, like, 70 years ago." Shawn said, with his expression clearly showing that he was surprised.

"Well, let's just say I discovered immortality before the 'supposed' death of mine back in the 50s."

"This must be the dream, right? I don't know what the other explanation there is."

"It is not a dream." The man said, however, this time, it's not Einstein who replied, Shawn turned to the source of the sound and see a man sitting in a wheelchair approaching them.

"Stephen Hawking?!" Shawn's face showed signs of another surprise.

"The hell is this? I haven't taken a single drug for my entire life, so what the hell am I seeing right now?" Shawn thought, slapped himself to make sure it truly isn't a dream, to his surprise, his face hurt.

"Now, do you believe us?" Einstein chuckled.

"Fine, for now." Shawn replied with a hint of skepticism. "So, why do you need me here? Also, what is this place supposed to be?"

"This is the inter-dimensional space. I am very alive, and so is Hawking and many scientists. The inter-dimensional space, as the name suggests, is in between dimensions. For this place specifically, we named it KSS Lab; no need to know what it stands for. We do experiments here, of course. Our purpose is to push the boundary of what we can do in this inter-dimensional space."

"As for the reason why we bring you here. Let us ask you a question."

"Huh? Yeah, just ask me."

"You wish to be in a foreign world, don't you?"

"Well, yeah. How did you know that?"

"We know. We watched you since you were born; we know everything about you."

"That's creepy as hell. You know, right?"

"I wouldn't want to say that, although we have some reason, we don't wish to tell you just yet."

"Whatever that is, that's still pretty creepy."

"You still haven't answered my question, though," Shawn said, wanting to get his answer from the scientist who stood before him.

"We're here just to grant your wish, that's all."

"What do you mean 'Grant my wish'? Are you gonna deport me to a foreign world or something?"

"That's precisely it."

"Aren't that thing supposed to be, like, God's job or something? Why would you do that, or rather, how could you do that? That's impossible." Shawn inquired. He knows this thing shouldn't be possible.

"You already know that God doesn't exist," Einstein answered.

"Although, that's only the case in our world. For everywhere else? God did exist." He claimed.

"What do you mean 'only in our world'? Did he despise us or something?"

"You can figure why later," Hawking said, dismissing the question.

"For how we do it, specifically, deport you to that world. Let's just say we can; you will know it in time."

"Also," Einstein spoke,

"You will be given a brain-planting chip."

"Of course, the chip's purpose is to download all of humanity's knowledge to your brain; that way, you won't be dead on the first day there, and also for some reason you will know later on."

"Just great, what am I supposed to do with this knowledge?"

"It's up to you, I know you will have a great use of it in the future."

Upon hearing this, Shawn, not satisfied with the answer, didn't wish to push it further, so he let out a sigh.

After that, he began to calm down a bit, then asked,

"So, who will be the victim of my transmigration?"

"We never mentioned the transferring of your soul to someone to you before, It seems you're quite clever, just the person we need."

"So, to answer your question, you will be replacing the king of the Kingdom of Severnia, King Alexander."

Shawn, upon hearing this, was surprised. "King!? Come on man, I can't govern for shit, you expected me to rule the kingdom?" Shawn is clearly surprised, although not happy; he didn't want to express his frustration.

Shawn let out a huge sigh then asked, "Could you at least give me a brief information about the kingdom?"

"We could give it to you. Severnia is a medium-sized kingdom located in the Menia continent, The kingdom has been in decline for years now; its population is around 2 million people, I believe. Other information, you will have to figure out yourself."

"Decline?!" Shawn didn't expect this. "So my job is to ruin the kingdom on day one?" He asked sarcastically.

"Of course not." Einstein chuckled. "I believe you'll be great at it."

"Yeah, right." Shawn thought.

"Do you have any more questions before we send you there?" Hawking said.

"Do I get the memories of the king?"

"You'll know it once you get there. Any questions about that world will be answered once you get there."

"Alright, well, I would like to ask Hawking about something."

"You can ask me anything."

"Well, about the thing you done on that one specific island-"

"Nope, not that question." Hawking interrupts, not wanting to answer the question.

"Fine." He knows nothing would make Hawking answer that.

"I wonder, Einstein, how did you fake your death?" Shawn asked a new question.

"Simple. I just cloned myself and made that clone of mine dead, I'm not gonna reveal the information further regarding my fake death."

"Alright, so, how will you make me go there? You know, the other world, you can't just simply just put me there with your mind or something, right?"

"You'd be right to ask that." Hawking said, "Did you see the pod over there? That kinda looks like the one in Sci-fi movies. You will enter that pod, and you will simply just need to close your eyes, after a few moment it should transport you there."

"I have to say, it's kinda neat."

"So, are there any other scientists in here?" Shawn inquired.

"You'd be surprised; most of them are present here." Einstein said, "Except for Edison, of course."

"What? Did you guys got a beef with that man or something?"

"You already know why," Hawking said.

"Ready to go yet?" Einstein asked.

"Couldn't say ready, but welp, it is what it is." After saying that, Shawn walked toward the pod, asking, "How should I proceed?"

"You've watched enough Sci-fi movies to know how," Einstein replied.

Shawn gets inside the pod, waits for it to close, and then closes his eyes.

After that, minutes of silence and darkness. Suddenly, there's a loud sound, some sci-fi type of sound, then comes the silence again. After a few minutes, he heard the sounds; this time, it was bird chirping. He realized that he must have already travelled to the new world. Shawn began to open his eyes and then started to look around.

"So it is real after all."

The room seems to be the bedroom. Shawn, or now, Alexander, was sitting on the bed. Chandeliers are hanging from the ceiling. In front of him, there is the desk, which has a paper, presumably, a document about the kingdom, and a big mirror against the wall. Shawn is inspecting his body.

The new body was about his age, slightly fitter, but far from athletic.

Looking to the left, there is a clock, and it seems that it's about 9 AM right now.

"Welp, gotta stay locked in, or they'll know I'm not the real Alexander."

"Still, I wondered how the real Alexander died. Could it be a heart attack? Or an assassination?"

"So when will I get his memories?" Upon thinking this, suddenly, all of Alexander's memories are rushing to him. The feeling is like a thunder strike onto him, and although painful, it quickly disappears once he has all the memories.

"Welp, looks like it's the heart attack."

"Let's see," Shawn recalled the memories of old Alexander. "King Alexander, also known as Alexander the Fail."

"Huh, the hell? How bad you must be if people called you 'the Fail', man, this sucks."

"It seems Alexander began to rule the kingdom for 1 year now, after the assassination of his father, George II."

"Alexander is sucking at this job so much that, somehow, we got 20% less income from taxes, 50% more expenditure and the debt situation is so bad, even my country back on earth seems better."

"The economy also sucks, local business can't stand a chance aginst the merchant who import the goods from foreign countries, our production decrease by 20%, our current unemployment rates is 30%, price skyrocketed, even the eggs cost 10 silver coin, the fuck is this?"

"Our military can't even compete with neighbour; if we didn't do anything soon our sovereignty would be at risk. Corruption is also high as hell, and all of this has happened in just one year. Thank you so much, Alexander."

"Now I know why he died because of a heart attack, I would too if I saw all these documents."

"Man, Einstein must have been tripping if he say it's declining, this shit ain't decline, it's falling apart."

"At least magic exists in this world, just what I need for fantasy type shit."

"Alright, now, I'm known as Alexander. Can't say I'm proud of it."

After saying this, there's a knocking sound on the door.

"Your majesty." The valet spoke. "There is an important matter the head of the royal guard wants to discuss."

"Well, shit." Shawn, now, Alexander thought.

"Tell Joe I'll be there soon," Alexander said.
