Chapter 9 - The Temptation of Blood

Cecilia didn't know how long she had been lying on the bed.She just curled up there like an injured little animal, silently licking her own wounds. The physical pain was nothing compared to the despair inside her.She had been completely destroyed by Cassiel—not just her body, but her dignity and her hope. She felt like a broken doll, casually played with and discarded. She even began to question whether there was any meaning in her continued existence.

Creek—The door to the room was suddenly pushed open gently.Cecilia's body stiffened in an instant. She thought it was Cassiel returning, and fear immediately gripped her heart. But when she saw who it was, she realized it was the maid delivering food. The maid carried a tray, on which sat a delicate meal and a glass of... bright red liquid."Miss, it's time for your meal," the maid said softly, her tone carrying a hint of sympathy.

Cecilia didn't respond, just silently staring at her."The Prince has instructed that you must eat on time," the maid added when Cecilia didn't react.Cecilia's gaze fell upon the glass of crimson liquid. It was... blood. Was it Cassiel's blood, or... someone else's?She didn't know, and she didn't want to know. She just felt a wave of nausea.

"Take it away," she said coldly, her voice tinged with disgust."But..." The maid hesitated, looking at her awkwardly."I said, take it away!" Cecilia raised her voice, her tone full of anger. She didn't want to eat, didn't want to drink, didn't want anything to do with vampires anymore! The maid, startled by her reaction, quickly backed out with the tray. The room fell silent again.

Cecilia lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, her eyes fixated on the murals. The murals depicted scenes of vampire hunts, with vampires in the images all showing ferocious faces, bared fangs, tearing humans apart, and drinking their blood.Cecilia looked at those images, filled with fear and revulsion. She didn't understand why vampires treated humans so cruelly. Was it that humans were just food to them? She refused to accept being reduced to vampire prey, being imprisoned in this dark cage. She had to find a way to escape.

Suddenly, an overwhelming hunger swept through her entire body. Her stomach began to convulse violently, and her throat was so dry it felt like it was burning. She felt waves of dizziness and weakness, as though the energy in her body was being drained little by little. She knew it was because she had lost too much blood and needed to replenish it—needed... food.

Her eyes once again fell on the glass of crimson liquid. It was blood, vampire food, and... her food. She knew she shouldn't drink it.She should resist it, stay away from it.But her body craved it uncontrollably. It was a powerful, irresistible desire, as if it came from deep within her soul.

Cecilia struggled, trying to control herself, but her body grew weaker, more powerless.Eventually, she gave in.She slowly sat up, picked up the glass of red liquid, and brought it to her lips.A strong, pungent smell of blood hit her, making her feel a wave of nausea. But at the same time, there was an indescribable allure in that scent, making it impossible for her to resist.

Cecilia closed her eyes, took a deep breath, then drank the entire glass of red liquid. The liquid slid down her throat, bringing with it a chilling yet burning sensation. She felt a powerful surge of energy flood through her body, revitalizing her once-weak form. Her wounds began to heal rapidly, and her complexion flushed. With that came a feeling of unprecedented satisfaction and pleasure, as if she had been reborn. So this was... the power of vampires?

Cecilia opened her eyes and looked at her empty hands, her gaze filled with complex emotions. She felt both disgust and shame, yet also excitement and longing. She knew she had just taken the first step into her fall. She had begun to surrender to the vampires. No, she couldn't let this happen! She couldn't become a puppet for the vampires! She couldn't lose herself! She had to stay clear-headed, find a way to escape! She fought to resist her craving for blood, though it was a difficult battle.

Suddenly, the door to the room was pushed open again. This time, it was Cassiel who entered. He looked at Cecilia with a glint of amusement and mockery in his eyes."It seems you've already tasted the 'delicacy,'" he said slowly, his voice carrying an enchanting, almost hypnotic quality.

Cecilia's body stiffened again. She lowered her head, unable to look Cassiel in the eye."How does it feel?" Cassiel walked up to her, gently lifting her chin, forcing her to look at him. "Isn't it wonderful?"Cecilia didn't speak; her lips, which hadn't fully healed, were once again bitten open.

"I know, you resist it," Cassiel seemed to see through her thoughts, slowly speaking, "but you can't resist your own instincts."He reached out and gently wiped the blood from her lips, his gaze soft."Don't be afraid, Cecilia," he whispered. "I'll let you get used to it.""I'll make you... fall in love with this feeling."With that, Cassiel licked the blood off his finger clean.

Cecilia took a deep breath, instinctively stepping back a few paces. This was clearly Cassiel's temptation. He was always so bloodthirsty, yet utterly without moral constraints.Cecilia feared that she would fall completely into this, becoming a ruthless blood-drinking machine.
