"Ugh.." Yvonne groans as she writes
The last line of her novel. "Until The Flowers Bloom." is a novel Yvonne has been working on for years, she couldn't be happier finally finishing it.
"Finally."Yvonne thought to herself stretching herself closing her brown eyes.
Crash!
"Hmm? What was that?" Yvonne thought to herself.
She stood up to look for the cause when suddenly the light went out. The surrounding went dark, unnaturally dark, pitch black, Like Yvonne was thrown in to a void.
"Huh?" Shock, Yvonne looks around nervously, thinking her friends would pop out saying it's a prank or something but…
"I don't have friends…" Yvonne mumbles.
She start carefully walking around expecting to trip on something or worse someone but she finds that her once messy room was now an empty space.
"Hello? Is anybody here?" Yvonne shout out.
As her voice echoed through the void a sky blue hologram suddenly appears.
"What is this?" Yvonne looks throughly into the hologram.
On the bright blue square hologram is a large white message.
"Objective : Survive!"
And under was a smaller message.
"Reward : ???
Penalty : Death!"
"Death?" Yvonne mumbles.
Suddenly the void she was standing on seems to vanish as she fell into the deep void.
"Ah?!" Yvonne screeched, eyes widened in shock as she slips down the dark endless void.
"Grasp!" Yvonne grasp for air gripping the bedsheets she's sleeping on.
"Bedsheets?" She thought as she sigh relieved it was just a bad dream but her thoughts were proven wrong once she opens her eyes.
"Where is this?" Yvonne thought.
Looking around, she sees children sleeping on their own beds but a child caught her eyes. Strawberry blonde hair in a messy form, a long eyelash, a tiny button nose and a heart shaped lips, the child reminds her of a rabbit, but most importantly..
"Cynthia?" Yvonne eye widen.
The little girl eyelashes flutters as she opens her eyes, revealing both light pink orbs. A sweet voice comes out from her lips as she speaks.
"Hmm? Did you call me?" Cynthia mutters.
"Cynthia…" Yvonne repeats as she looks around once more.
The wall with wallpaper falling off, beds which looks more like rags with the metal part of the bed rusted looking like it'll break and the bed are sorts in row with a little malnourish child on each bed. She couldn't be mistaken, This is definitely an orphanage, and it's a horrible one.
"Umm? What is it?" Cynthia nods answering for the second time.
"What's the name of this orphanage?" Yvonne smiles, asking Cynthia a simple question.
"Ah! Umm! C-Cherish one.." Cynthia flustered, stutter as the sight of the smile of the person that asks her the question.
"Ah.. I'm doomed." Yvonne thought as her soul seems to leave her body.
"Cynthia" is the female lead of the novel,"Until The Flowers Bloom" and "Cherished ones" is the name of the orphanage the female lead started at.
"Now I know… what "Objective : Survive" means." Yvonne thought to herself.
""Until The Flowers Bloom" is a psychological novel that I spent years writing. None of these characters are sane."
"Hey! Wake up and get to work!" A sound of a middle aged lady echoes through the room, breaking Yvonne's trails of thoughts.
There, at the door, was a middle aged chubby woman with her reddish hair in a bun, her grey eyes burning in anger.
"That's must be Mrs. Butcher." Yvonne thought rambles again.
Every child scrambles making their own bed and quickly leaves the bedroom, including Cynthia.
"Hmm?" Cynthia thought as she spot one person who have no sense in emergency. Mrs. Butcher's going to be so mad.
"Matilda.. Mrs. Butcher is going to be mad!" The little strawberry blonde girl rushes with her little feet towards the untidy bed.
"Huh?" Yvonne looks around to find that only herself was in the room.
"Matilda?" Yvonne says to Cynthia as Yvonne points herself.
"Umm! Matilda's got to hurry!" Cynthia nods violently, tidying the untidy bed.
Yvonne looks at her own hands to find that her hand has become tiny like a little child but before she can process anything, Cynthia grabs her hand and rushes both of them into the canteen. There every child is standing in a line waiting for their food. Cynthia garbs her tray and Matilda's, and rushes in line.
Yvonne, skeptical, looks around for a reflection of some sort. Staring at the canteen's window, Yvonne eyes widen.
Dark purple hair almost pitch black falling down to her waist, purple eyes like bellflowers, sharp eyes like a kitten, a snub like nose and a down turn lips, creating an elegant feeling, but the rags on her body says otherwise.
"Matilda?" Yvonne word slips out her mouth and suddenly her surroundings become pitch black like before, the same hologram has come back,
But now with a person, a woman, probably in her late teen, standing in a student uniform, her long black messy hair covering her face.
"So it was you…" A sharp raspy voice startled Yvonne.
"What?" Yvonne mumbled while backing away but isn't fast enough.
The girl lunges at Yvonne and pushes her down, pinning her on the ground, sittings on Yvonne's stomach and grabbing her collar.
"I'm back in my body?" Yvonne thoughts as her mind wandered.
"How can you be so confident? You have no respect for me, do you?!" The girl pulled Yvonne's collar and yelled at her face.
Yvonne heart races as their eyes met.
Their purple eyes met, one trembling in rage, the other in confusion.
"Matilda?" Yvonne's eyes widened.
"You don't care, right? This is just a game for you, right? Well, try living in my shoes. You wrote this ending for me, so try it yourself."
Matilda, the real Matilda screams at Yvonne, tears streaming down, her eyes filled with anger.
"I- yo- what do you mean..?" Yvonne eyes widened in shock.
"I'm saying I went through the hell you set up. Why did you write my ending to be horrible? Why did everyone get a happy ending when I struggled to be alive?"
"You went t-through what I wrote?" Yvonne voice trembles.
"Try living in my shoe.." Matilda eyes darken, her eyes were lifeless as she stood up.
"I'm sorry, I-" Yvonne apologized as she gets up.
"You should be." Matilda grabs Yvonne hands.
"Don't worry, your family I'll take care of them."
"What?" Yvonne eyes widened.
"From now on, you'll be Matilda, and I'll be Yvonne."
"What?-"
Yvonne's sentence was cut when she suddenly felt something wet all over her body.
"What?" Matilda blinks and the pitch black surrounding has turn back to the old dusty canteen.
Her dark purple hair was completely covered with soup, dripping on her face, smudging her worn out clothing. Bits of potatoes slide of her head on to the ground.
"There you go!" The oversized middle age lady with dark green curly hair which resembles a seaweed smiles sarcastically.
Now, in the frail and malnourished child's body, Matilda's, Yvonne can't help herself from sighing. She must survive.
