.................

.......

[As agreed, you left the royal court.]

[From that day on, a rumor began to spread across Britain—a knight had killed his two companions.]

[You knew it was a carefully prepared rumor by Morgan, cutting off your way back.]

[Talent "Affinity" has been replaced with "Affinity (Evil)": Instead of expressing your thoughts kindly, you, bearing an evil name, are now better at using threats. Your words and actions will be accepted in a less friendly manner.]

[Talent "Battle Continuation" has been upgraded to "Battle Continuation+": Because of Morgan's instructions at the bath, you can stand up even after severe injuries until you assassinate Vortigern.]

[You traveled alone for a long time, but because of your loyalty to Morgan, you didn't feel lonely.]

At a border town.....

A little further, and you would be in the area ravaged by Vortigern's army.

Ian chose to rest here temporarily.

In a tavern, the townspeople were drinking and chatting about various things—even though the war could affect them at any time, they had the right to do so under the protection of the British army.

"Hey, hey!" A man with a goatee said, his face flushed with alcohol. "Have you heard? A knight killed his two companions and is now on the run!"

Ian knew they were talking about him. He had heard too many similar stories on the way.

But he didn't mind.

Because everyone was just spreading rumors, and no one had bothered to investigate the truth.

That's what Morgan wanted to see.

Then—

The princess's vision was the knight's vision.

He was willing to see this happen, even if he was trapped.

"Yeah, I know."

The fat man next to the goatee nodded.

"What a grudge, he had to kill them?"

"Who knows?" The goatee took another big gulp of wine. "But more than that, have you heard about the crown prince lately?"

"I know that!"

A skinny man joined the conversation.

"I heard there was some decision made before the expedition, right?"

"..."

More than his own affairs, Ian was more concerned about information about Morgan.

Dressed in a coat, he quietly listened to their conversation.

[You held your breath and listened to their conversation.]

[You heard about the ceremony celebrating the birth of the new royal heir, which seemed to have affected even this border town.]

[You learned a lot about the banquet from Morgan, but the following conversation completely surprised you.]

[They believed that after King Uther, the new heir would take over the British throne and become the new king.]

[You realized that someone was spreading rumors like Morgan, but even so, you couldn't control your rationality.]

With a bang.

Ian smashed the already rickety table.

Everyone in the tavern was attracted—they didn't know why this tall man, who was hiding himself in a coat, did this.

"The King of Britain will not be that new heir!"

"The glory of this land will always belong to the princess!"

Before he made things worse, Ian threw down enough coins to pay for the damage and left the tavern angrily.

The crowd looked at his retreating figure, looking at each other.

"Who was that madman?"

"Never mind him, let's keep drinking."

The tavern gradually returned to normal, as if Ian had never been there.

[You left the tavern and started traveling day and night.]

[You crossed mountains, rivers, and forests.]

[You entered the area ravaged by Vortigern's army, but the tyrant king was still a king, not as easy to find as you thought.]

[You realized that you couldn't complete Morgan's mission this way and needed more drastic methods.]

[Since you couldn't find Vortigern, you would let Vortigern find you.]

[You killed some of Vortigern's soldiers, which was no pressure for you as a former knight.]

[You killed more and more soldiers, and your words began to spread in this outer land far from the royal court, which was exactly what you wanted.]

[One day, an old man claiming to be Vortigern appeared before you, without any soldiers around him.]

[He fought with you, defeating you in just a few moves. You realized the unfathomable gap in strength between you and understood the difficulty of King Uther's expedition.]

[Talent "Battle Continuation+" triggered: You couldn't forget Morgan's instructions. Your vitality became extremely strong. Even if Vortigern trampled on your wounds and made blood flow everywhere, you still didn't die.]

[Vortigern became interested in you, or rather, in your tenacious will to survive.]

[He secretly took you back to the camp and gave you the best treatment.]

[Your body gradually recovered, and you realized your plan had succeeded.]

[One day, Vortigern appeared before you again.]

"Finally awake, young man."

Vortigern sat next to Ian.

"I thought you would need more time, but you seem to be stronger than I expected."

Although he opposed King Uther and allied with Britain's long-time enemy, the Saxons, Vortigern exuded an aura that was no less than that of the royal court.

Ian couldn't tell if it was his innate kingly aura or the accumulated experience from years of war.

However, Ian didn't forget his mission.

He began to disguise himself.

"Yes, thanks to your care, White Dragon King, I'm recovering well."

"Young man, tell me."

Vortigern looked directly at him, his eyes still full of courage despite his old age.

"You, who have traveled through mountains and rivers, why do you choose to attract my attention in this way?"

Ian's heart trembled.

Did Vortigern see through his intentions and appear before him on purpose?

"White Dragon King, I was convicted of certain crimes in my anger. I cannot accept these imposed judgments, so I came from afar, hoping to receive your protection and save my life."

"Heh." Vortigern sneered.

"Ian, a wandering knight from the Royal Court, you killed your fellow knight and should be convicted."

Ian gasped.

Vortigern knows everything and just wants to see how he will answer.

Fortunately, Morgan had confined him and disappeared for several years, completely isolating his existence from others. Now, he only bears the crime of killing his comrade.

"However—"

Vortigern changed his tone.

"If the person you killed was not a comrade but an enemy, then there would be no such thing as a crime, right?"

"Ian, if you want my protection, prove it with their blood."
