Chapter 3 - réincarnation

A sharp sound escaped my mouth, and then I opened my eyes to see a boy with white hair standing before me, staring intently. I felt an intense cold in my chest. Looking down, I saw an ice spear piercing straight through my heart.

The only question I asked was:

— Who are you?

The white-haired boy looked at me in astonishment before saying:

— How can you regenerate when you just made a contract?

— Excuse me, but I don't understand what you're talking about…

The white-haired boy frowned.

— Don't tell me you were possessed by force and that I only just killed the Nightmare…

— What are you talking about?

After that, he struck me, and everything went black.

When I regained consciousness, I was lying in what seemed to be a hospital room. A doctor stood nearby. Seeing me wake up, he said:

— Good morning, Mr. Redstark. Someone tried to kill you, but you're fine now.

— Where am I? And who is Redstark?

The doctor looked at me with a worried expression.

— I think you have a concussion… You might have lost your memory.

— Then why are you calling me Redstark?

— You are Raven Redstark, son of the Redstark family.

— No, I'm Lucaaa…

I was sure of one thing… Raven Redstark was a character from the novel I was reading. That meant the white-haired person… was Julien St. Soleil.

After leaving the hospital, I headed to the academy, section A, first dormitory. Once inside Raven's room, I found a large space with a bed and a desk. It looked strangely similar to my room back in my parents' house.

Jennifer… is she here too? But first, I had to check something.

— System!

Nothing happened. Maybe it would come later.

If Julien had killed Raven today, then I was at chapter 65 of the novel… That meant more than a month and a half had passed since the beginning of the story.

— What should I do now? Find Jennifer… and then?

I started thinking about how I ended up here. One thing was certain: I was the only one transported. Before I came here, my phone had vibrated… but Jennifer didn't have her phone with her. She had died before the notification arrived.

— Jennifer… Jennifer… Jason… David… Marc… One day, I'll come back to make you pay.

Crying wasn't something I was used to. I had to become stronger, find the person who had saved me, and convince them to send me back home.

And on that day, Jason, Marc, and David…
