Chapter 1 - Planet X

The sun had long since set on Earth, its fiery demise marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter for humanity. Planet X, a marvel of human ingenuity and resilience, now stood as the last bastion of civilization. A man made planet, constructed over fifty grueling years, it was a testament to humanity's determination to survive. High tech wonders adorned every corner of this futuristic world, androids walked among humans, robots performed tasks with precision, flying cars zipped through the skies, and teleportation gates allowed instant travel across the planet's vast curves. It was a reality that once seemed like science fiction, but now, it was home.

Yet, amidst the gleaming towers and advanced technologies, there existed a stark contrast to the brimming city of the planet, it was the ghettos of Planet X. Here, the remnants of Earth's survivors lived in the shadows of progress, struggling to make ends meet. Among them were five extraordinary children, orphans who had lost their parents during Earth's final days. They were known as the Ghetto Five. Dennis, the tech genius. Orion, the strategist. Michelle, the playful acrobat with a cheerful demeanor. Rachel, the smarty pants and Dante, the engineer. Together, they navigated the harsh realities of their world, surviving through wit, skill, and an unbreakable bond.

The day had been long, but successful. The Ghetto Five had just completed another heist, one of their most daring yet. Their target had been a high security facility on the outskirts of the ghetto, a place rumored to house advanced tech and valuable resources. Dennis, with his unparalleled hacking skills, had breached the facility's security system in a record-breaking 30 seconds. Orion's meticulous planning had ensured their escape routes were foolproof, while Dante's engineering prowess had kept their gadgets running smoothly. Michelle's agility and Rachel's quick thinking had saved them from a close call with a patrol android.

As they made their way back to their hideout in the alley, Michelle couldn't contain her excitement. "Hey, Dennis," she called out, her voice brimming with enthusiasm, "that was one of our best heists ever!"

Dennis smirked, adjusting the small device on his wrist. "You say that after every heist, Michelle."

"But come on," she insisted, "the way you hacked into that facility, you've gotten better, man. That was insane!"

Dante chimed in, patting Dennis on the back. "She ain't lying. You beat your earlier time interval. Thirty seconds, bro. That's peak hacking right there."

Orion, as usual, walked in silence, his brow furrowed in thought. He rarely spoke after a heist, always analyzing, always looking for ways to improve. His mind was a labyrinth of strategies and contingencies, and he took his role as the group's strategist seriously.

Dante noticed Orion's quiet demeanor and nudged him playfully. "Come on, man, at least smile. You can't be going all grinch on us after every heist we pull."

Orion finally looked up, his sharp eyes scanning the group. "Better strategies mean safer heists for us. I can't afford to fall behind. You were a bit clumsy today, Dante. The tech would've failed if Rachel hadn't brought a second battery."

Rachel, ever the voice of reason, nodded in agreement. "He's right. We need to be more careful. One mistake, and we're done for."

Dante shrugged, a sheepish grin on his face. "Yeah, yeah. I'll do better next time."

Despite their occasional bickering, the Ghetto Five were inseparable. Their bond was forged in the fires of loss and survival, and they trusted each other implicitly. They were more than a team, they were family.

Planet X's ghettos were a stark contrast to the gleaming cities that dominated the planet. Here, the streets were narrow and crowded, the buildings worn and crumbling. The air was thick with the scent of recycled oxygen and the hum of outdated machinery. It was a place where the forgotten and the forsaken eked out a living, far removed from the luxuries of the upper districts.

The Ghetto Five called this place home. Their hideout was a small, makeshift shelter tucked away in a forgotten corner of the alley. It was far from luxurious, but it was theirs. The walls were lined with salvaged tech, blueprints, and maps of the city. A single holographic projector in the corner displayed a rotating model of Planet X, its curves and contours glowing softly in the dim light.

As they entered the hideout, Michelle flopped onto a worn out couch, her energy seemingly boundless. "I'm starving!" she declared, her voice echoing through the small space.

Dennis rubbed his stomach in agreement. "Yeah, that heist worked up an appetite."

Rachel, ever the responsible one, quickly interjected. "We're only using 2% of the money from today's haul. No extravagant spending!."

The others groaned but nodded in agreement. They knew the importance of rationing their resources. Survival in the ghetto required discipline, and Rachel was the enforcer of their rules.

The group made their way to a small, dimly lit restaurant nestled in the heart of the ghetto. It was a modest place, known for its affordable meals and discreet clientele. The owner, an elderly man named Mr. Chen, had a soft spot for the Ghetto Five. He had lost his own family during Earth's destruction and saw a bit of himself in these resourceful kids.

As they entered, Mr. Chen greeted them with a warm smile. "Back so soon? You kids must've had a busy day."

Michelle grinned. "You could say that, Mr. Chen. The usual, please!"

The group settled into their usual booth, the familiar surroundings providing a sense of comfort. As they waited for their food, they fell into easy conversation, their earlier tensions melting away.

"So," Dennis began, leaning back in his seat, "what's next? We can't keep hitting small time facilities forever."

Orion nodded, his expression serious. "We need a bigger target. Something that can set us up for the long term."

Rachel raised an eyebrow. "Bigger targets mean bigger risks. Are we ready for that?"

Dante smirked. "With this team? We're always ready."

Michelle's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I say we go for it. We've been playing it safe for too long. It's time to shake things up!"

As they debated their next move, their food arrived, steaming bowls of hot noodles and plates of synthetic meat. The conversation continued, filled with laughter, teasing, and the occasional serious remark. For a brief moment, they were just five kids enjoying a meal, far removed from the harsh realities of their world.

As the holographic map flickered in the dim light, the Ghetto Five stood united, ready to take on whatever came their way. They were the underdogs, the forgotten, the overlooked. But they were also the dreamers, the fighters, the ones who dared to hope in a world that had tried to extinguish their light.

And in the end, that was all they needed to survive on this planet.
