Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Unexpected Rewards of Kindness

The next morning, Lee Jihoon found himself staring at his phone screen longer than usual.

The text from Yoo Seoyun—a famous actress—was still there.

It was a simple message, yet it carried so much weight.

"If you ever need a favor, let me know."

Jihoon wasn't sure how to process it.

A celebrity had personally reached out to him… just because of a comment?

It wasn't like he had done anything extraordinary—just a few words of encouragement.

And yet, it had mattered.

Jihoon put his phone down, exhaling slowly.

The Kindness System had been in his life for less than a week, but already, things were changing.

He wasn't just making money—he was seeing the impact of small, simple gestures.

And maybe that was the real reward.

With that thought, he got dressed and left for work.

Jihoon arrived at his office and barely had time to sit down before Kevin Park leaned over his desk, whispering dramatically.

"Dude. Are you hiding a secret life?"

Jihoon raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Kevin glanced around, then leaned in closer. "I saw you checking your phone earlier. You looked… suspiciously serious."

Jihoon sighed. "Kevin. I was just reading a text."

Kevin's eyes narrowed. "From a girl?"

Jihoon hesitated. "...Sort of?"

Kevin's jaw dropped. "WAIT. YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?!"

Jihoon choked on his coffee. "No! What—where did you get that idea?!"

Kevin smirked. "You hesitated."

Jihoon groaned. "It's nothing like that. Just someone thanking me for something."

Kevin squinted at him. "Uh-huh. Sure. Mysterious text messages. Acting all weird. You're definitely up to something."

Jihoon ignored him, focusing on his emails.

But just as he was about to reply to a client, his phone buzzed again.

Incoming Call: Yoo Seoyun

Jihoon stared.

Wait. She's actually calling?!

He quickly grabbed his phone and walked out of the office to answer.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is this Jihoon-ssi?" a familiar, soft voice asked.

"Uh… yes. This is Jihoon."

"It's Yoo Seoyun. I hope I'm not disturbing you?"

Jihoon glanced at the office behind him. "Not at all. What's up?"

Seoyun hesitated before speaking. "I… I know this is sudden, but I wanted to ask if we could meet in person."

Jihoon's eyebrows shot up. "Meet? As in… actually meet?"

"Yes," Seoyun said. "I don't usually do this, but… you're the only person who said something truly genuine to me when I was struggling. And I… I'd like to thank you properly."

Jihoon ran a hand through his hair. This was insane.

A famous actress wanted to meet him?

What was he supposed to say?

"…I guess I could," Jihoon said cautiously. "When?"

"Are you free this evening?" Seoyun asked.

Jihoon thought about it. "Yeah, I should be."

"Great. I'll send you the location. And… thank you again."

The call ended.

Jihoon stared at his phone, still trying to process what just happened.

This wasn't how he expected his day to go.

And he had a feeling it was about to get even stranger.

The meeting place was a small, quiet café in an upscale part of town.

Jihoon arrived a few minutes early, feeling slightly out of place.

The café was elegant but cozy, with dim lighting and soft jazz playing in the background.

As he stepped inside, he immediately noticed a woman sitting in the corner, wearing a cap and sunglasses.

It wasn't hard to guess who she was.

Jihoon walked over. "Seoyun-ssi?"

The woman looked up and smiled. "Jihoon-ssi. You came."

She gestured for him to sit.

Jihoon slid into the seat across from her. "I have to admit… this is probably the strangest thing that's ever happened to me."

Seoyun chuckled softly. "I imagine so. I don't usually reach out to strangers like this."

Jihoon tilted his head. "Then why did you?"

She hesitated before answering.

"When I saw your comment, I was… at my lowest," she admitted quietly. "I was reading so many hateful messages, and I started to believe them. But then I saw your words. And for the first time in days, I felt like someone actually understood."

Jihoon felt a pang in his chest.

He hadn't realized how much weight a few words could carry.

"I didn't do anything special," he said honestly. "I just said what I thought was right."

Seoyun smiled. "And sometimes, that's enough."

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment before Seoyun reached into her bag and pulled out a small envelope.

"I wanted to give you this," she said, sliding it across the table.

Jihoon hesitated before picking it up. He opened it—and his eyes widened.

Inside was a VIP invitation to a private film premiere.

"This is…"

"A small token of gratitude," Seoyun said with a wink. "Come as my guest."

Jihoon blinked. "I… don't know what to say."

"Just say yes," Seoyun said playfully.

Jihoon chuckled. "Alright. Yes."

Ding.

[Meaningful Act of Kindness Completed!]

Reward: 20,000 KRW

Jihoon smiled.

Maybe this kindness thing really was paying off.

As Jihoon walked home that night, invitation in his pocket, he couldn't help but feel… excited.

This all started because he left a comment on a celebrity's post.

And now, he was going to a VIP event.

Jihoon exhaled, shaking his head.

Life was unpredictable.

And thanks to the Kindness System, it was only getting more interesting.

With a smirk, he glanced up at the night sky.

What would happen next?

He couldn't wait to find out.
