Chapter 1 - One

A girl gazed out of the wide-opened window.

The hurricane was still going on.

Her eyes traced at the furious movements of the storm, strong wind howled

across the far away horizon, sending millions of leaves and slender sticks swirling across the dark sky.

The hurricane raged on, as the wind blew through the girl's long, straight hair as it waved and danced in chaos.

A piece of dark green leaf accompanied with the heavy rain slammed toward her face, snapping her out of trance.

She frowned as she immediately closed the windows. The swooshing sound of the storm stopped. Her dark eyes stared out the window for a moment in the quiet room, then she pulled the heavy blue curtains shut, blocking the tempest's fury and the unpleasant scenery.

Beside her bed, the glow-in-the-dark alarm clock blinked a sharp, but dim glow.

00:56 am

She sighed and reached for the marble bedside table to turn off the dim blue light. Instantly, the room turned into complete darkness. The only sound was the relentless storm outside.

The roaring hurricane was making so much noise that eventually turned into a torture of deafening, and the girl felt impossible to sleep under the low grumbling of the thunder.

I am getting sick of this! She thought, as she stared down the grey screen of the alarm clock no longer glowing.

The hurricane had been going on for six straight days already. Six straight days. It was horrible. No damage, no destruction to the cities. But the constant battering of wind and rain felt endless.

Emilia's sigh escaped her lips once again, as she walked to her large–canopied–light blue bed and she could barely open her tired eyes.

She tiredly sinked into the softness of the bed, pulling it over her body and shoved the two white earplugs into her ears, hoping they would help her resist from the sound of the storm. The amulet around her paled and exquisite neck was glowing weakly dim in the dark.

It was also the only light in her bedroom,

BAM!

BANG!

RUMBLE!

Three loud crashes in a row shook the room. Emilia sat straight up, ignoring one of the earplugs bouncing out of her ear. She glanced at the curtain, and saw the massive shadow of a tree branch slammed against her window, then it slowly bent and dropped out of her sight with a loud thud when it smashed to the ground level. That almost shook the room again, but thankfully she lived on the third floor.

Emilia furiously jumped out of her bed and swung open the heavy curtains.

Luckily, the glass window didn't crack, but a few light scratch marks left screeching across the window, like painful scars.

Emilia frowned—again.

"Stop it!" She muttered, her voice filled with strong frustration that made her sharp voice crack. She roughly stroked her hair and reached her exhausted arm toward the curtains, deciding to close it back.

"Ughhh! I can't even stand this…"

CRACK!

A jagged streak of lightning lit up the sky, cutting through Emilia's words.

She still had her jaw hung open in the stunned silence, but it just stayed there.

The strong blue light of the lightning reflected on her pale face as she flinched.

For a moment, her brain was blank, unable to process the sudden shock through her brain—which she felt like it was damaged.

She blinked, shaking her head as if to convince herself nothing had happened, and forced herself back to reality.

"What?!..." She whispered to herself.

Emilia glared out the window, already speechless from her frustration, and she doubted that she looked idiotic from getting shocked by the lightning.

The sky was dark outside, but nowhere close to pitch black. The strange indigo hue stretched across above, the air thick with rain. But the wind seemed to lessen its blowing.

In the distance, a flock of black birds darted across the sky in a neat but strange pattern. Emilia sucked in a cold breath when the bird chirped in a sharp and eerie sound, almost giving her goosebumps when the howling wind returned, as the birds' sound echoed through the sky.

Her small paled face was eventually getting more paled—if that was possible. Her heart thudded in her chest so fast and so loud, Emilia thought it was going to jump out of her throat.

She jumped into her bed and covered her whole head with her soft pillow.

The back of her neck was slicked with cold sweat and her scalp numb from the cold touch of fear creeping along her spine.

THIS STUPID HURRICANE!!

She thought, as she curled up her fist beneath the blanket, her frustration bubbling over.

The room was eerily quiet, with her heavy breaths echoing through the room, accompanied with the faint hum of the storm outside.

Emilia sighed, but at last gave up on her tired body. Her eyelids grew heavy, as she battled with her mind to force it to settle.

Finally, the heavy and dreamless sleep took her over.

"Chirp!"

"Chirp chirp!"

A yellow bird sang as the sun rose from the coastline, casting sunlight into Emilia's large and luxurious room from the wide opened curtains.

Sunlight filled in the place, shining on the giant canopied bed resting in the center of the room. The light expanded its position and reflected on the green emerald studying desk the size of a dining room table. It leaned against one wall, with a crystal blue chair with two armrests which made the chair look more like a comfortable couch. Another wall was taken over by a giant closet made mostly of ivory quartz, its edges inlaid with shimmering diamonds. A wide lavender bookshelves packed with an incredible amount of pristine books—the thousands of them had no trace of a single speck of dust marred on the covers, all seemed brand new while taking their places, neatly arranged on the bookshelves. Above them all, a crystal chandelier hung from the tall, triangular ceiling, reflecting pale light when the sunlight glimmered on it.

Emilia's finger tip twitched slightly.

"Chirp chirp chirp!" the bird sang along as more birds joined in. The sounds coming from each of them eventually sounded inconsistent and noisy.

Her eyes snapped open in annoyance. She frowned deeply with her eyes lit up in tiny flames, and stuck her hands out under the blanket, to press them under her earplugs-free ears.

Of course she didn't know where the earplugs went, but probably somewhere hiding in the giant bed, since she might have missed them by accident while messily asleep..

"CHIRP!!"

.....

"I AM TRYING TO SLEEEEEEP!"

Emilia yelled in a slight husky voice, sitting up abruptly in her bed, her voice cutting through the peaceful, morning air.

The birds scattered away as she glared out the window with her dark brown eyes of frustration.

She was furious. Especially when she realized her head was one-hundred-percent

clear and wide awakened. But she didn't feel like getting out of bed in the middle of a cold, winter morning.

She twitched the corner of the thick blanket, and stared at the blue velvet fabric for a few moments, finally feeling her anger recede.

Emilia let out a heavy sigh, as she ran her hand through her face—which was red from her madness, and lay back down in her bed. She stared at the grand chandelier hanging down the tall ceiling, and shutted her eyes.

Com'on, let me go back to sleep! Her voice rang in her head as her tightened eyes loosen.

She sighed, relieved that the world seemed still and quiet without the birds chirping outside the window.

Then she turned her head to face away from the window and closed her eyes tightly as she pulled her blanket.

"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!" a sudden sound screeched in a sharp voice, breaking the silence. And, Emilia's limit line.

Her eyes snapped wide open.

"STOP IT!!!"

She screamed, almost hysterical as she jumped on her bed and slammed her hand down on the alarm clock.

The sharp sound stopped instantly. And the silence remained.

She stood there on her bed, puffing with frustration that was overwhelming her, then stared down at her large room.

The sunlight filled every corner of the large room. Emilia flinched when she looked out the window but accidentally stared straight into the blinding sun.

Thanks a lot, alarm clock. You've really helped me sleep! She thought bitterly, her eyes narrowing at the small, rectangular white alarm clock that said 6:45 am.

She groaned, realizing she was forced to leave her bed this early in the morning. But what could she do? She was already wide-awakened, and couldn't go back to sleep.

Emilia jumped off the bed, and landed incredibly light on the floor. So light, she didn't even make the tiniest sound when her bare foot touched the slippery light brown floor. But she did almost slip, but managed to stay still while holding on to the edge of her bed.

Emilia patted her heart, relieved that she didn't fall on the crystal floor like a fool, especially in front of that massive mirror—two times her height and stretched across the closet door. Of course she didn't want to see herself clumsily lying on the ground in that mirror.

Emilia put on her blue, fuzzy and soft slippers, and walked a few steps to the oversized mirror.

The mirror reflected a girl—about five feet two tall. Her size only filled about twenty percent of the whole vast glass.

She had black, straight hair that cascaded over her shoulder, a few strands of hair revealed the wildness of her sleep. Her dark but alluring eyes were staring into the mirror with a small sense of annoyance. Her cheeks were flushed with a tint of red, probably from the earlier anger.

Emilia was a little surprised how her hair was not that messy after a night of tossing around. She expected her hair to look like a bird nest..

Her nightgown was ice white, with light blue elephants on it. But somehow, it looked a little ridiculous on her, seeming a little bit too vibrant compared to her dark brown hair and black eyes.

She stared at her outfit in the mirror, and decided the gown was definitely not for grandiose mornings. Either way, it was just pajamas for a thirteen-year-old. Emilia stepped toward the closet. The door was heaving, the smooth quartz surface was cool under her touch. She slid it open, a soft creak filling the place, lighting the orange light in the large closet.

Her clothes were a vast collection of different fabrics and styles. Mostly, the colorful gowns with luxurious designs took up the most space in the closets, lining up neatly, as if waiting for her to choose. And robes. A lot of robes and cloaks. Almost all of them were in dark colors, most were black and dark brown. Only some were greyish green or blue. On the left side of the inside of the closet were layers of purple shelves made out of amethysts. Hair pins, crests and badges were placed on them in mustard colored bamboo baskets.

Emilia slid her hands in the hangers, her fingers brushing through the silky textures, while her eyes were too busy looking at the clothings, trying to choose clothing for the day.

Few moments later, she gave up struggling for which-clothes-she-was-going-to-wear. So she decided to go to the bathroom and wash up first before coming back.

She shook her head and walked toward the heavy and large door—and the door was made out of light blue crystals, with a small square of frosted glass in the middle—it was standing next to the wall of bookshelves.

Emilia closed the closet door, and grabbed her phone while reaching for the silver bedroom door knob, when someone on the outside swung open the door, hitting Emilia right in the face.

"Oh my gosh! Emilia, are you okay?" a soft but urgent voice went into her ears, cutted through her fog of pain.

Emilia groaned, rubbing her forehead, which she was almost certain that it was swollen since its pain had made her head felt heavy on her shoulder.

She swore under her breath and lifted her head up—which made her head buzzing and humming so hard her eyes felt a sudden stun—and a wave of dizziness crashed into her.

"Uhh."

She murmured, and realized the whole luxurious room was spinning. For a moment, her vision blurred, and her body swayed, as she searched around, trying to find something to make her stand upright. Her finger finally felt the cold texture of the slippery opal wall, and managed herself to find balance.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" The person outside the door was still exclaiming, but she quickly came in to grasp Emilia's hand, keeping her away from toppling over.

Emilia blinked a few times, still feeling the world spinning in circles, but slowly everything came back into focus.

"It's alright." She murmured weakly as she rubbed her forehead, trying to get rid of the pulsing pain. She scowled when her method had made the pain even worse, like millions of bees stinging in one place. She sighed, and looked up to see the familiar face.

A girl that seemed a little older than Emilia stood in front of her, with waist length blonde hair neatly brushed and tied into a straight ponytail, with a thin, black hairband hidden in her thick hair. The outfit she was wearing was a long silky gown with a soft color of pink. Pale blue sapphires matching the color of her eyes inlaid on the tips of the dress, making her whole figure glow when a strand of sunlight shone across her.

"Okay.." Selene breathed a sigh of relief, and ruffled Emilia's hair before she could react.

"Hey!" Emilia pulled her hand away, feeling her irritation flaring, and asked with discontentedness, "Why are you barging into my room so early in the morning?"

"Plus didn't I tell you to knock before you come in?" Emilia added, stepping closer to the door and crossing her arms and leaned against the wall, as if to block Selene from entering her room.

"Alright, little sis'," Selene chuckled as she gently squeezed herself back into the door frame, and closed the door behind her and replied, "I think I forgot to tell you but…Father is holding an important meeting-slash-party this morning later with….eh….the human leaders."

Emilia's face darkened instantly.

"Humans?" She snapped, "Those pesky-little-arrogant-stupid-think-they-are-smart species?" Even after she blurted out, she couldn't believe she had thought of so many descriptive words to describe the humans. Well, of course. Only bad and disrespectful words.

"Emilia..!" Selene seemed stunned for a moment, a flick of concern appearing in her eyes, "Father is going to sign a treaty—an important treaty with the human world. You know it really does matter."

"What? " Emilia shouted, "With them?"

She gritted her teeth, feeling the muscles around her cheek gripped. "Even if a war actually broke out, our abilities and powers are way more stronger than theirs!"

"No, you've got it wrong…" Selene begged in a low volume voice, nervously curling her blonde hair with her finger. "I know that we—our kingdom is mighty, but at last the most important thing we need is peace…"

Emilia cutted Selene's words, "What do you mean? We never will need dad to…shamelessly find those humans and sign a contract! It will undermine our dignity as Souls!"

Selene interrupted, "Shameless? Father is never shameless! Emilia, stop being so immature! You know better."

Emilia pushed Selene out the door and slammed her door shut before Selene finished her words. The force rattled the frame, and silence remained after.

She turned around and pushed her body to the door, scowling at her gigantic bedroom. Her mind replayed Selene's words, ringing loudly in her ears.

"But at last the most important thing we need is peace…"

Peace?

Then she realized something and instantly turned around and swung open the door.

"Hey Selene!" Emilia shouted, not even looking at her sister's face. "Tell him I won't go to that stupid party!"

After that she slammed the door again and locked it, leaving Selene standing outside shocked. She clapped her own hands as if she had just solved a huge problem.

"Emilia!! You can't!! Every member in our family has to attend! Signing a treaty with a different species is more significant than what you think!" Selene pounded on the door with urgency.

Emilia ignored and went to her desk and sat in the chair. She stared at the lime color from the emerald surface, and ran a hand through her messy dark hair.

"That is completely meaningless. Why would dad even plan something like this? Is he really thinking carefully? Well, I'm pretty sure he is not." Emilia mumbled.

Oops, maybe I shouldn't talk about my dad like this. She thought to herself. But still, signing a contract with a stupid species makes him stupid as well.

Emilia grabbed a pencil from the desk and spun it with three of her fingers,

distracting herself. But really she didn't know what to do.

"Now that Selene is outside the door, I can't even go to the bathroom to wash my

face or brush my teeth." She moaned with a heavy sigh, her eyes shifted to the amulet hanging on her neck. It was glowing a calm and soft shade of white.

But she couldn't do anything fun with an amulet, besides using her ability…

"Emilia!" Selene's voice squeaked suddenly, cutting through her thoughts, "I'll bring you Chocolate chip muffins if you come to the party!"

Before Emilia replied, outside the door, Selene continued, "Ten—no, twenty muffins if you decide to come!"

Emilia was about to argue back, but reminding herself of the delicious chocolate

chips muffins…Her stomach gave a little flutter of excitement, she almost forgot about all of her angriness.

She licked her dry lip, and her heart momentarily lightened up at the thought of the

gooey and sweet and a little salty tastes of chocolate muffins.

"Please come, Emilia!" Selene's voice begged outside the door.

"Alright, fine…I guess." Emilia said with an exaggerated impatient voice, her feet

taking her toward her giant closet. "But only because of the muffins."

"Thank you. Make sure you change quickly, the meeting is a few hours away."

After Selene left, Emilia paused in front of the tall mirror, the reflection of her

own staring back at her. She rummaged through the cloth hangers, and pulled out a silky, black robe, and threw it on the bed. Then, she dug her head into the closet again, and grabbed a dark brown hooded cape. Then, she reached for the bamboo basket and took out a silver crest.

"Wait, why am I so into muffins that I decided to go to that meaningless party?"

Shemuttured, then grabbed the brush made out of white moonstone with small roses adorned on it. She brushed her hair, gently straightening out her tangles, and placed the brush back in the basket, and closed the closet door.

She shook her head, but didn't feel any frustration when she swiftly put on her attire and opened her bedroom door.

The hallway was quiet. Selene was already gone.

Like the bedroom floor, the corridor ground was covered in light blue tiles of slippery crystal, stretching its way across the long and wide hallway, lid up with small flicks of flames from the torches inserted on the white opal wall.

Emilia walked on the floor, her slippers flapping on the slippery surface, and walked into the bathroom.

The bathroom was wide. Even though it wasn't built in her room, it still was the bathroom only she could use. Because everyone in the house had a luxurious bathroom for themselves.

A chandelier hung from the ceiling—a little bit smaller in size than the crystal chandelier in Emilia's bedroom. But she still had no idea why someone would put a chandelier in a bathroom.

Even the mirror had a golden frame around it, and the surface of the sink was made out of sapphire, glowing under the light from the chandelier. She turned around to close the bathroom door.

"Emilia?" a deep and severe voice sounded, interrupting her movement.

Emilia glanced at the mirror and saw a tall man around an age of thirty—but a sense of ancientness was visibly seen on his bronze face. He was wearing a dark gray cloal rapping around the green tunics he was wearing on the inside. A golden crest with some complicated pattern was pinning on his shoulder, glinting faintly in the bright hallway. His white boots with blue linings reached to his knees gave him an imposing presence as he stood in silence, staring at Emilia behind her.

Emilia didn't reply immediately. She didn't need to. Her eyes narrowed slightly at her father's figure reflected in the mirror, but remained silent.

But Lord Nallen seemed as if waiting for her to respond. His pale blue eyes glanced over at her.

"Yes?" Emilia finally led out her groan, and turned to face him. "Dad."

Her voice dropped when she said the last word. A whisper only she could hear.

"Aren't you going to go to the…something like...Junior Souls…fighting camp… today?" He asked, when his silvery blue eyes finally drifted away from her.

Emilia scoffed inwardly, but her irritation seemed to find her again. Fighting camp? Really?

"Aren't you going to have an 'important' party today?" She shot back, her tone purposely showing her sarcasm, then took out her tooth brush and squeezed her bubblegum-scented-toothpaste on the brush, and started brushing her teeth without making any eye contact with Lord Nallen.

"Oh, I know that. You are coming…right?" The man said, running a hand through his neatly brushed brown hair—and coughed, trying to hide his awkwardness.

"Just for clarification—it is actually the Junior Souls "training" winter camp."

Emilia rolled her eyes as she rinsed her mouth. Then, she took out her soft towel and opened the sink. The cold water ran out, as she soaked the white towel.

"Anyways, the humans are coming in a few hours, you have to come down soon," He said, "And don't bring your amulet."

"What? Why can't I bring my amulet?" Emilia asked, already impatient from her dad's endless chit-chat. Either way, the amulet was the only thing that can keep her safe, and without it, humans probably would defeat them easily. Without it, she would be vulnerable.

"Not only you can't, everyone in our family, or I suppose every single member attending the party can't. Not for this meeting, Emilia." Lord Nalen slowly replied, as his dark eyes stared at Emilia.

Emilia gritted her teeth when her heart sank. "Why? Why would you—"

"Because it's a treaty," he interrupted firmly. "It is to ensure the humans don't feel threatened. If we show our power, it can derail everything." His voice felt cold, but so calm his expression didn't change—or he didn't even have any expressions on his face.

Emilia was silent for a moment, battling her thoughts of arguments. But she knew she couldn't convince her dad. He never had ever got convinced.

"Okay." Emilia led out a long breath as she scrubbed the towel gently on the edge of her face. The cold water spread across her face, clearing her mind. "Now can you leave?"

Lord Nallen's brow raised slightly, but didn't say anything. He turned around and walked away, his footsteps heaving as his boots clicked on the crystal floor.

"Hmph." Emilia whispered under her breath, and squeezed the towel to dry it.

She walked out of the bathroom, irritation and disappointment still simmering beneath her skin. She headed back to her grand bedroom, and stared at her amulet glowing faint light.

Emilia really wanted to hide her amulet in her pocket so she could secretly bring it to the meeting, but she knew her dad would sense it. She put down the amulet in her brown wooden jewelry box and tucked it under her pillow.

Emilia sighed and decided to wait in her room until she was supposed to leave to go to the palace…and meet with the humans. Humans. She led out a long, heavy sigh. She really didn't know if she wanted to face the humans without her amulet. Without her power and ability.

Emilia sighed again, and stood up from her chair, too bored to stare at the opal

wall for the next few hours. The-next-impossible-to-end-hours.

She walked toward the large window—almost taking up a whole wall, and opened the glass. The cold air of winter morning hit her, the breeze tousling her hair. She gazed down at the golden sun rising from the horizon, reflecting itself on the surface of the sparkling ocean. The trees outside swayed gently. It took her a few seconds to realize the hurricane and storm stopped.

Everything was back to normal. She could see the whole town built next to the water resting peacefully beneath her. The Souls wandering around on the streets, seemed like tiny ants to her—because her house was built on a tall mountain, and earned the name "Majesticreek".

"Must be the Healers." Emilia thought, as she stared at a group of birds flying across the sky, chirping a cheerful rhythm. Healers are Souls that had the ability from their amulets to heal injured Souls, and a specific group of Healers called "Nature Healers". Obviously, Nature Healers healed nature. Most Healers could even heal a Soul who was badly wounded, or particularly dead. With them, not a single Soul had ever died in the ancient history of Souls.

Her eyes shifted back into the room, her gaze landed on the clock. It was 7:30 am. She sighed in impatience and frustration as she walked to her canopied bed and took the jewelry box out from under her pillow.

The amulet inside was still glowing dim lights.

Without an amulet, most Souls were just nothing. No abilities, no powers. Just like the weak humans.

Emilia shook her head and decided to sneak the amulet in her pocket hidden in the black robe. She didn't care if her father was going to sense it or not. It was just a way of defending, whether it would scare the human or not.

"Emilia!" Someone yelled outside the door, making Emilia jump to her feet.

Recognizing Selene's voice, she rolled her eyes, but still walked across the room and opened the door.

"What do you want?" She blurted, her eyes immediately shifted to her sister's silky dark green robe, which she had changed into, replacing the pink gown she wore earlier.

"You forgot your crest. And this new crest I'm giving to you." Selene replied calmly, ignoring Emilia's frustration as she handed her two round crests.

One was black, featuring two dark purple hands with a swirl in the middle. The other was a golden crown, with two flaming torches on both sides, and a small scroll with tiny carving words that look gibberish to Emilia.

"What are the purple hands supposed to do on the crest?" Emilia snorted. She did recognize the other crest. She has had it since she was born. Only royalty could receive these crests.

"You realized school is starting tomorrow, right? As a Telekinetic, you need to wear it on campus, and mine—" Selene pointed at her golden crest with a shifting person on it, "Is for a Teleporter, so I have to wear this."

Emilia's heart sank instantly when her sister reminded her that school was starting. She sighed, realizing she couldn't do anything to avoid school, and stared at Selene's crests pinning on her robe. Then, she looked at her crests in her hand.

"I don't remember having to wear this last year." She insisted, but still pinned both on the side of her hood.

"Miss Emilia Zenekilis," Selene said with a roll of her eyes, "Haven't you realized you are starting Level 2 this year?"

Emilia stared at her feet, but was stunned for a few seconds. She never realized that…throughout the whole winter. The winter camp ended a week ago, and she just graduated Level 1.5 in Ethereal Academy—the school she and Selene attended.

"Besides, You don't need to wear your ability crest yet—school does not start yet." Selene said. "I mean, if you want to…"

"Why are you wearing it, then?" Emilia snapped, pointing at Selene's crest.

She flushed but replied, "I… I guess I'm just too used to wearing it…"

"Cool, you don't need to show off your ability just because it is a little bit unique. Besides, don't think you can boss me around just because you are only two years older than me." Emilia interrupted, and tossed her hair long but missed Selene's face.

"Anyways, see you," Selene said, turning around and closing the door behind her.

A few moments later.

Emilia tucked the books on her desk away and yawned. She took a quick glance at the clock, and saw it said 8:41.

She sighed and walked out of her bedroom, and down the luxurious spiral staircase.

Selene was in the gigantic kitchen—apparently three times Emilia's already so huge bedroom—making food.

"Selene, when is the breakfast going to be ready?" Emilia asked, sitting at the dining table, "I'm hungry."

Selene grinned and said, "This is not breakfast. It's the snack later for the party."

"What?!" Emilia yelled, glaring at Selene, who was running—oh—no—teleporting around the kitchen with incredibly fast speed like a bolt of lightning, just to gather ingredients.

"You can't do that!" Emilia ignored Selene's show-off and continued, "You are going to make your little sister starve!"

She stood up from the diamond-encrusted chair. "I'm not going to the party if I don't get to eat breakfast!" Then, she looked over her shoulder, pretending to get ready to walk away.

"Remember… muffins…." Selene smirked, while mixing the cream in a pink bowl.

Emilia stopped walking, and reminded herself of her favorite food.

"I…I guess I'll wait." Emilia said, "I'll go downtown since I am super bored. Where is the party going to be at?"

"12 pm at the palace." Selene answered, "The food is done, I'll go with you."

"What? You call that done?"

Emilia glared at the watery, butter-like-substance in the bowl. And, it was literally in a super gross green color, mixed with some purple weird specks floating on the surface.

"Are you serious?" Emilia asked, with her jaw dropped open as she pointed at the disgusting bowl of food—she forced herself to believe it was actually "food".

"Yeah! The rest are for the royal chefs!" Selene laughed, "They are not going to let

the daughter of Lord Nallen Zenekilis makes all the food, right?"

Emilia rolled her eyes. Then why would you start by ruining it…

"Listen, I don't need you to follow me. I have my own… private things to do." Emilia rubbed her temple.

"Ooo… your own private things?" Selene smirked.

"You mean going into the portal to the human world," She teleported to the sink and led out the water, "and trick those humans by using your power?"

Emilia awkwardly scratched her hair.

She remembered the last time she used her amulet and pulled a few banana peels out of a metal garbage bin on a sidewalk, and watched as the humans tripped on them.

"Hehe." Emilia chuckled and reminded herself of the funny face of the humans.

"Emilia, you have to be nicer to them. What do they do to us anyways? I mean…"

"What do you mean what they do to us? They hate us, and they have zero rights to hate us!" Emilia snapped.

Selene shook her head.

"Fine, just go down by yourself, but be sure to come back by 12." Selene sighed,

giving in.

"Okay, see you!" Emilia's smile widened and pulled out her amulet. "Take me to Downtown."

The amulet glowed a pale white, enveloping her with light as she disappeared.

Downtown

"Hi Miss Zenekilis!"

"Good morning!"

"Hello!"

Emilia ran across the streets briefly waving back to the people greeting her, but she wasn't focusing on them. She had something else—way funner to do.

She turned into an alley, and stopped. The alley was dark as always, spider webs and sticky, green mosses covered the stone floor and red brick walls. The old walls loosed their colors through time, the fainted color covered with specks of dirt. Emilia figured this alley had existed longer than when the humans even existed.

Emilia smiled slightly, and started to walk into the alley slowly, mainly because she didn't want to step into a puddle by accident, or slip and fall on the sticky floor covered with unknown liquid. The familiar foul smell drifted toward her nose. She pinched it with disgust.

"Hold on… almost there… blegh!!"

She continued forward even slower. Moments later, a well made of gray bricks appeared before her. Emilia's smile came back as she took the hands off her nose, and walked toward the ancient well.

The amulet in her robe pocket was glowing intensely, it could have stung her eyes if she looked at it. Her smile turned into a wide smirk, as she jumped into the well swiftly.

Everything around her was dark.

Emilia instinctively took her amulet out of her pocket, and placed it around her neck. All of a sudden, everything lit up with a strong pale light.

Emilia brushed some dust particles off her robe, and observed the environment around her.

This place was gorgeous, like a wonderland.

There are trees that have rich green leaves, and their branches stretch out healthily. The grass beneath her feet glowing softly with each step. Pink, purple, yellow flowers started to blossom off the grassy ground as she walked.

The light grew brighter, and the surroundings became clearer. She quickened her pace, and stopped immediately.

In front of her stood a white door, emitting white light. The glow was gentle and pleasant, without stinging her eyes when she looked straight into it.

Emilia stared at it for a while, then the corner of her lip lifted. She took her amulet off her neck, and stepped to the door.

She took a deep and steady breath in, and reached her hand to the door. The warm touch of the surface felt comfortable and calm, as the warmth spreaded in her body. The light dimmed, and after all the light faded, the glowing white door turned into an ancient wooden door.

Emilia smiled, her eyes lid up with excitement as she slowly placed her white amulet in the keyhole. It fitted perfectly.

An enormous light erupted from the keyhole, instantly engulfing her figure.

A few minutes later, the light slowly grew dimmer, and Emilia disappeared without a trace.
