Chapter 2 - CHAPTER ONE: THE FORBIDDEN PATH

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the sleepy village. Lena's footsteps barely made a sound on the soft earth as she moved through the dense trees that bordered the town. Tonight, the air was thick with anticipation, as if the world itself held its breath, waiting for something to change.

Lena had always felt the pull of the woods. As a child, she had been warned countless times to stay away from the forest. The elders spoke of the dark magic that dwelled there, of cursed paths and lost souls. But now, standing at the edge of the trees, Lena found herself unable to resist.

The whispers had been constant in her mind for days. Strange dreams had haunted her sleep—visions of a tower bathed in moonlight, of eyes that burned with an intensity she could neither comprehend nor escape. Each night, the dreams grew stronger, drawing her closer to the mystery she had been forbidden to explore.

She glanced back toward the village, her heart pounding in her chest. Her grandmother would never approve, but the pull was undeniable. It wasn't just curiosity—it was something deeper, something primal. The feeling of being called by forces beyond her understanding.

With a deep breath, she stepped into the darkness, her heart racing. The trees closed around her like a tunnel, blocking the light from the village and plunging her into an eerie silence. The path was narrow, overgrown with twisting vines and tangled roots, but Lena moved forward with purpose, her steps sure as though the forest itself was guiding her.

Time seemed to stretch as she walked deeper into the heart of the woods, the chill of the night air settling around her like a cloak. She felt watched. Not by any animal, but by something far older, far more powerful.

And then, as though summoned by her very thoughts, the clearing appeared.

There, standing alone amidst the trees, was a tower.

It was unlike anything Lena had ever seen—tall, imposing, and draped in ivy. The stone seemed to shimmer faintly in the moonlight, as though alive with magic. Her breath caught in her throat, a mix of awe and fear flooding her veins. This was it—the tower from her dreams.

She stepped closer, her fingers trembling as they reached out to touch the ancient stone. The moment her skin brushed against it, a shiver ran through her, like a current of electricity. The air crackled with energy, and a low hum seemed to vibrate through her bones.

For a moment, Lena hesitated. The stories she'd been told about the tower came rushing back to her: tales of its cursed history, of the souls it had claimed, of the forbidden magic locked within its walls. But the allure was too great. She could not turn back now.

With a single, trembling breath, Lena pushed open the weathered door.

And the world as she knew it changed forever.
