The people of Aurora city were in a festive period. The streets were decorated with red lanterns and decorations. Many people could be seen walking towards the center of the city. In the city square, many people had gathered, making it crowded. In the center of the city square was a huge, two floored temple, covered in inscriptions. It gave off an ancient feel.

The people moving towards the city square were mostly adults accompanying their younger ones. One character that cut through across all the people here was the myriad of emotions they experienced such as joy, anticipation and also fear.

Alex stood with his mom and dad, overwhelmed with joy and anticipation. Even though he was thin, his auburn and handsome features made him conspicuous.

Blue Ember World could be said to be characterized by the special energy present within. The natives of this world called it Spirit Energy, something that existed all around. The physiques of the natives of the Blue Ember World are constantly refined by this energy hence, they have a life span longer than usual. The usual average man could live up to 120 years.

The Spirit Awakeneing was a ceremony conducted in every city across the Blue Ember World. On this day, all teenagers at the age of 14 are to go under a ritual which awakens their talent, determining their future paths. The talents were divided into seven levels, Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Indigo and Purple with Red being the lowest and Purple the highest.

Apart from talent, there's also an affinity test. It shows the element which one is more attuned to. When one's affinity towards a certain element is high, he or she is able to train faster as compared to other elements. There are four basic elements which are fire, water, wind and earth. There are also variant elements such as ice, gravity, light, darkness etc. The affinity test was also divided into four levels, low, medium, high and top.

Alex stood with his parents, his palms covered in sweat. This was a day he had long anticipated. Whether he'll become someone great or just an ordinary person will be determined through the spirit awakening.

The spirit awakening had so much impact on the life's of these teenagers that it started having psychological barriers on these youths.

"Alex, you seem very energetic." Just as he was immersed in the thoughts of the up coming awakening, Alex heard a voice behind him. He turned to see his closest friend, Damien walking over. Alex couldn't help but roll his eyes when he saw him. "You also seem very energetic." Alex retorted with a snort. Damien could be considered his childhood friend.

Growing up, Alex wasn't social so he didn't have any friends. Well, expect for Damien who forced a friendship. Damien was unimaginably annoying, constantly harrasing Alex until they became friends and with their families being neighbors, it made everything more easier.

"You ready?" Damien asked. Alex couldn't help but frown as he felt his fear magnify.

 "Anyways, have you heard, the city lord's daughter, Miss Anna, will be participating in the awakening ceremony." Damien whispered into Alex's ear. 

Alex couldn't help but think of a lively girl who was always up to mischief. The city lord had only one child which was Anna. But everyone knew off how protective the city lord was of Anna.

 "Try anything and you can say good bye to little Damien." Alex said with a hint of schadenfreude.

 "Come on, man, you know I always have pure thoughts." Damien said with an innocent expression to which Alex rolled his eyes towards. Everyone in this town knows of Damien's certified skills in picking women, this made him receive countless beatings and scoldings, yet somehow, he never changed.

 Just as they were about to continue their banter, a man in regal clothing walked towards the city square.

He was middle aged and had a rotund physique. He had a round face and the warm smile on his face made him more approachable. He was the City Lord of Aurora city, Richard. 

 The moment he arrived, the square became silent. Following him were a few guards and a young girl. She was clad in a pink blouse and had a bubbly energy around her. Following behind them was another five middle aged men and women in different style of clothings. The moment this five people arrived, the square became rowdy.

"What?! The academy is recruiting students?" A shrill voice was heard amongst the crowd. Even though every year, a spirit awakening ceremony was conducted. It never meant the academies will recruit students.

The academies usually recruited students from big cities, something which Aurora city couldn't compare to. The only time they made special recruits was when a rare genius was found.

Even though the rule states that the spirit awakening ceremony was to be conducted in the city square, there were some families who had the means to test the talents of their descendants early.

With this discovery, a sense of nervousness covered the whole square. If the children did well, they'll rise up but if they couldn't rise up then it's will set a shadow of regrets on their hearts that will affect their future training. As the crowd became more rowdy, the city lord finally spoke.

 "Hello! People of Aurora City, it's been a year since the last Awakening Ceremony. Another day to awaken a new batch of young talents. With much further ado, let the Spirit Awakening begin." The moment he finished saying this, the city lord then walked towards the temple and took our a white crystal from his bosom.

He inserted it into the hole on the door of the temple and the inscriptions on the door lit up. He then walked into the temple and the crowd followed him in. When they stepped into the temple, it was illuminated by white crystals in the ceiling of the temple.

In the middle of the temple was a huge white stone that slowly suspended in the air. The stone had a height of 2 meters. Below the stone was a pool with golden light flickering on it.

"All participants, come forward." The city lord ordered. Alex and the others moved forward. "Now, do you see the pool there, I want you all to sit in the pool and slowly meditate. Only leave when I tell you so. Do you understand?" The city lord looked at everyone with stern eyes. The teenagers all nodded in understanding. The city lord smiled slightly when he saw this.

"Alright, let the spirit awakening begin. He took out another white crystal which the white stone absorbed. After absorbing, runes that flickered in and out of existence appeared on the white stone. "Alright, move out!" The mayor said in a stern voice.
