Synopsis
As I sit down to describe my book, "The General's Promise", a surge of excitement and anticipation has overcome me. This story has been brewing in my mind for quite some time, and I'm eager to share it with readers. Within this historical romance, I introduce the readers to General Xiao Hong, a brilliant and fearless warrior respected and admired by his peers. After one vicious battle, though, Xiao Hong fakes a crippling injury for cover from his enemies and protection of his life. As Xiao Hong navigates through the intricacies of court life, he is summoned by the Emperor to marry Mei Xing, a daughter of a humble duke, sweet and kind as anyone would want in a wife. I have to confess, I have fallen in love with the character of Mei Xing while writing her; for indeed, she stands out to be the true innocent, her heart fully made of love and compassion. The more Xiao Hong is with Mei Xing, the heavier his heart weighs down, being enchanted by her beauty and charm. He must also keep his real identity concealed from those who would destroy him. Will he find a balance for his duty as a warrior with this new love, or will his secrets tear them apart? I hope my readers will accompany me on the journey of learning about the convolutions of honor, loyalty, and love that existed in ancient China. "The General's Promise" is an appealing historical romance that I have shared with great pride to audiences worldwide.

Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

The picture that comes to my mind while sitting down to write this story is that of a battle-weary warrior hiding behind a worn leather mask. My protagonist, General Xiao Hong, sat astride his horse and looked out at the aftermath of the battle. His long, raven-black hair was tied in a simple knot, framing a face chiseled by the many years of hardships and wars.

I envision his eyes, deep and piercing brown, reflecting a thousand words unspoken. His eyes traverse the battlefield-the scattered bodies of the enemy, groans of the wounded, and tired faces of his own men. And with each word I write, the burden of Xiao Hong's story slowly settles upon me. A tale of war and sacrifice, honor, and loyalty.

But it is also a story of love and redemption, of what the human spirit can put up with in order to rise above misfortune. I see Xiao Hong's body, scarred from the battles he has seen, his left leg twisted at an awkward angle. I feel a well of pain and weariness that he feels inside, the knowledge that he will be called on to fight again, to sacrifice again.

And in the middle of war and chaos, there is this peace settling upon Xiao Hong; it's a peace based on knowing he did his duty-he fought for what he believes in. I would love to continue writing with a picture in my mind of the future of Xiao Hong and possibilities that:.

I can see him meeting a young woman, Mei Xing, who is the daughter of a humble duke. I feel the sparks flying between them, growing into something more than a mere attraction. But I am also cognizant that their love will not be without its problems. Obstacles will have to be surmounted, and challenges faced. Xiao Hong's past coming back to haunt him and Mei Xing fighting her own demons.

Yet, I firmly believe that even in the most dire adversities, their love shall survive-a shining light, guiding star-like, to pierce through a world of darkness and uncertainty. Writing, for me, is both exciting and a time of great anticipation. I know Xiao Hong's story will be one of epic scope: a tale of war and love, sacrifice, and redemption.

And herein lies the telling of a tale that I was called upon to tell-a narration which, in my heart I hope, may stir my readers' hearts and is about their struggles and triumphant victories regarding their own vulnerabilities. It's a story and privilege I feel privileged to be able to share with you.
