Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Grand Chessboard Behind Revenge

Coming out of the meeting room, Sebastian Gray returned to his office, ready to carefully plan how he could take the initiative. These days, the police had been too passive. While this didn't have much of an impact on solving the case, if they wanted to catch the "Ghost", they had to find a way to be proactive. It was difficult, but they had to give it a try.

Incidentally, solving the case and catching the murderer were two different things. In the "Ghost Butcher Case", the special task force had performed extremely well in solving the case. Almost as soon as the case occurred, they could solve it quickly. However, in catching the murderer, the progress had been very slow. Up to now, they hadn't even caught a glimpse of the "Ghost". There was still a long way to go!

"Have you finished organizing the meeting minutes for today?" Sebastian asked as soon as he entered the office.

By a small table, Lily White's face was all wrinkled up like a steamed stuffed bun, and she stammered, "Well... well..."

Sebastian didn't bother asking further. He walked over directly and picked up the notebook. Then, his whole face turned red with anger.

He took a deep breath and kept telling himself in his heart, "I chose this assistant myself, I chose this assistant myself."

After adjusting his emotions, he showed the clean notebook to Lily, "Where are the meeting minutes? I've already given you the recording. Why haven't you sorted out a single word? Lily, tell me, what were you doing the whole morning?"

Lily felt very guilty. She lowered her head and her eyes were wandering around, "Well... well... I don't know how to organize them."

"Summary. Just summarize the key points of the meeting content. Don't you know how to summarize?"

Lily lowered her head even more, "No, I don't have logical thinking."

Sebastian couldn't stand it any longer and angrily said, "If you don't know, can't you learn?"

"Woohoo, I really don't know how! I've been trying hard the whole morning, but I just don't know what to do. You know I'm a fool, wow! Woohoo~"

Seeing this silly girl crying, Sebastian's anger vanished instantly, and he felt a bit guilty. After all, this silly girl couldn't lie. If she said she had tried hard, she must have done so. She hadn't been slacking off, just didn't know how to do it.

"Sigh!" He sighed and thought, "I must find someone to teach her. Not having logical thinking is a big problem, and she won't be able to complete a lot of work in the future."

Thinking of logic, he thought of someone and then said, "Alright, stop crying. Come with me to my uncle's place tonight. I'll find a teacher for you to teach you logic."

"Okay." Sniffing, Lily still looked very aggrieved.

On the other side, at Yuanmeng Community.

"I need you to do something for me." Victor dialed Margaret's phone number.

Soon, a voice came from the other end of the phone, "Ghost, just let me go! I'm begging you. I've done everything you told me to do. I just want to live a peaceful life and raise my child. If you promise, I can give you all my money. I just beg you to spare me."

Victor secretly sighed. He did feel guilty towards Margaret, but there was no other way. The things that needed to be done had to be done.

"Margaret, I have no ill intentions towards you, and I won't harm you or your child. But no matter what you think, we are now on the same boat. Either I complete all my plans, and both you and I can settle down and live a peaceful life. Or I fail and get caught halfway, and we'll go to hell together. There's no third possibility."

After a long silence, there was only the sound of sobbing on the other end, obviously she was crying. Then, she spoke again, "What do you need me to do?"

"Establish a self-media company, the bigger the better."

"Why?"

"That's not something you should ask. In the future, don't ask too many questions. The less you know, the safer you and your family will be."

"Sorry. Are there any requirements for this company?"

"No. Just follow the procedures. It must be legal and compliant. After you establish it, I'll tell you what to do next."

"Okay."

Hanging up the phone, Victor leaned back on the sofa, feeling slightly tired.

Just as Goodman David had analyzed, the fingerprints, the paint, and the arrow poison were all clues he had deliberately left for the police. The murder notice was also something he had done on purpose.

He was playing a game of chess, a big game. In this game, revenge was just one aspect. He had another goal, a very big one. On this crisscrossing chessboard, everyone was a pawn, including the police and even himself. When the truth was finally revealed, the whole world would be shaken!

"Dinglingling~"

Just then, his phone rang. He looked down and saw that it was Sebastian. Without thinking much, he answered the phone.

"Hahaha, I'm coming to drink with you again." Sebastian's voice came through.

Victor couldn't help but smile at the corner of his mouth, "Okay."

"At eight o'clock tonight, at my sister's place."

Hearing this, Victor was a bit surprised. He was actually invited to Isabella Gray's house. However, he didn't care. It was all the same wherever they went. To be honest, he quite liked getting along with Sebastian. It was very comfortable.

"Okay."

"I won't come to pick you up this time. I'm still at the police station."

"Okay. See you tonight."

"Then it's a deal. See you later."

Hanging up the phone, Victor was going to take a nap. He was really tired, mainly mentally. He slept until around seven o'clock. After taking a simple shower, he took a taxi and set off.

"Dingdong."

The door opened, and Isabella appeared in front of him.

"Come in," she said.

Seeing that the woman's expression was a bit unnatural, Victor felt a bit strange but didn't think much of it. He stepped inside.

After entering, he understood why Isabella looked a bit strange. It turned out that Sebastian and Lily hadn't come back yet. Mark Gray and Elizabeth Gray had gone on a trip with Alex Gray and weren't at home either. Now, there were only the two of them in the house.

A man and a woman alone in a room. No wonder Isabella was uncomfortable.

In the living room, they sat far apart, and the atmosphere was extremely awkward.

"I'll go and see if they're back," Isabella stood up.

"I need to use the restroom," Victor also stood up.

After a long silence, they both stood up at the same time, and their words almost overlapped. Hearing each other's words, they stopped in their tracks, turned their heads, smiled at each other, and then sat down again.

This interruption dispelled most of the awkward atmosphere, and they both felt a bit more relaxed.

"This afternoon, Lily called me and said that Sebastian wants you to give her tutoring," Isabella said.

"Tutoring?" Victor was a bit surprised.

Isabella smiled sweetly, "Yes, but it's not teaching math. It's teaching her logic. Lily is working as Sebastian's assistant. Occasionally, she needs to deal with some documents. Without logical thinking, she can't do the job well. That's why he asked you to come."

Isabella, who was usually so cold and aloof, looked really beautiful when she smiled. Victor couldn't help but take an extra look at her.

However, in such an environment, being stared at by Victor Black like this, Isabella immediately put away her smile, and her face turned slightly red.

"So that's how it is," Victor was quite calm.

"Sister Isabella, we're back!"

"Sorry, there was a traffic jam on the way, and we were a bit late."

Just as the atmosphere was about to become awkward again, the door opened, revealing the smiling faces of Sebastian and Lily.
