"And, you may give her the pills according to the prescription."
"I see, that should be all. I can take it from here. Thank you, Nurse." A deep male voice responds.
As the woman in white leaves, the unfamiliar man approaches me. His expression is hard to read, I try to keep my eyes open and focus on him getting closer to me, but my head feels so heavy. My mind is foggy and unclear.
I try to make out what his expression could be, he looks…upset? He sits down next to me on the hospital bed, taking my frail hand into his own.
"I know you don't remember me.." he looked down, his voice soft, the disappointment visible on his face.
"but..I missed you a lot. I sat by your bed, every single day. Waiting for the day you would wake up.." He utters every single word with a deep, unfamiliar emotion. His brows furrowed in concern.
I want to speak. I want to respond, but my throat feels so dry and sore. My body is so frail, I can barely move a finger in response. So all I do is stare at him, helpless.
Question after question forms in my mind. Why am I here? Why can't I remember anything? And who is he? Why is he acting like he knows me?
He looks up at me again. Gazing into my hazy eyes, trying to maintain the soft smile on his lips.
"I know it's a lot to take in, Annette. My name is Vlad, and..I'm your husband."
