Year of the Lily

Our world is run by magic. Everyone is unique in what type of magic they control. There are 10 different base categories of magic, and they are all indicated in the same way. Roses... Each person gets a Rose imprinted somewhere on their body, like a tattoo. Each person only gets one color Rose. This causes society to set biases for everyone, based on the power of the rose color. This is not taught or told, but this is more of a societal norm. People treat each other better or worse depending on what Rose color. People with White or Black roses are treated with the utmost respect, like they are royalty, and they make sure to act the part, especially Adamt and Percival. I cannot blame them; I would act that way too if I were the strongest. Purple roses get treated with more respect than most but not absolute respect, like the white and black roses. Some of them are snobby, like we owe them something, but some of them are really nice, like the shopkeeper, Mr. Huet! He always gives me deals on fruit. Green roses usually understand people a lot better than anyone else, sometimes it is in a very creepy way because of this they get treated with a good amount respect naturally, while some of them like to pull pranks. Even so it doesn't change how people see most of them, but sometimes it catches people off guard. There are some who want change like Dr. Walker, he wants nothing more than to help people and change how they see each other. I want to help him on his journey. Yellow roses, which is my color, help people out a lot, more than the other roses. We typically are very empathetic, but it feels like we don't get enough respect sometimes. That's probably because a lot of people come to us at very bad moments or when they need help. So, I can't blame them. It is good to see the people I help smile. On the other hand, blue roses are kind of weird. A lot of them just don't care about how others see them or care for them. Kevin, one of my good friends says "La vie est la vie" which means life is life. Makes sense for someone like him who just goes with the flow. Sometimes it does make me mad at how he handles things. What makes it worse is whenever I tell him that he laughs it off and pats my head. Red roses are the most varied in personality, so it's hard to get a read on them. They don't typically get a lot of respect especially by higher up roses, often overlooked and not considered just like they are just some random person on the street. Orange roses are treated the worst by far, like they are worse than some street dogs. I don't know any orange roses so I can't say what they are like or what they do. Anytime I try to talk to one they walk away or just ignore me, probably because they think I might hurt them. They are considered the weakest in society by far.
