"Please introduce yourself to the class." My new collage Teacher said. I walked up to the front of the class and said, "My name is Aurora Thompson, but please call me Rory." Trteacher then said, "Tell us an interesting fact about yourself." I stared out the windows as I spoke, "I've always loved the moon. Somehow I feel connected to it like I'm bound to it or something." "Thank you, please go take a seat." I sat at the back of the class the class.
After the first period was over a girl walked up to me and said, "So, Rory, where you popular in high-school?" I looked up at her and said, "Only a little bit. But the whole football team asked me out and I said no to them. Does that count?" I asked as she looked shocked and stormed off.
I git up to move to second period and as I walked out the classroom everyone stared at me. I felt uncomfortable as I walked away. And this happened every period and lunch was worse. People looked at me and murmured somethings I was so happy when school ended.
I looked for my mom's car and got in. She then asked, "Sweetie how was school?" I looked at her and said, "It was fine. I just feel out of place. I don't like being inside things I like being outside. I want to be free." My mom looked nervous and stayed quiet. The whole way home the car ride was quiet.
Once we stopped at home I walked in and ran to the other side of the house. There where woods behind our house for some reason but I didn't care. I was happy that I had a place to be outside.
When I walked back in my mother was in the kitchen I walked towards the kitchen to see a man sitting at the counter. "Mom who is this?" I asked her. She looked down and said, "Sweetie this is... your dad." I looked at them and laughed.
"Good one mom. My dad came back to live after 17 years of being dead. You could've said he is just your boyfriend." I turned to walk away when the man said, "You didn't tell her? It was part of our agreement. You should've told her the truth of her being a half-breed when she turned sixteen. She is almost eighteen. And you haven't said anything?" I looked back at my mother as I heard the seriousness in the man's voice. I'm a half-breed? How? Why? What am I then?
"What am I if I'm a half-breed?" It was silent. I looked at my mom who didn't speak I was heartbroken. Why didn't she tell me? Was it suppose to stay a secret?
