Lucas's friend group continues to make fun of him for spending time with Amelia, teasing him about their "secret" friendship. One of his friends, Jess, confronts him, questioning why he's wasting time with someone like her. Lucas defends Amelia, but his standing in the group begins to slip. Amelia overhears part of the conversation and starts to feel guilty, thinking she's the cause of Lucas's strained friendships. She distances herself from him, deciding that she doesn't want to be the reason for his social downfall.
Internal Conflict: Amelia feels torn between wanting to protect Lucas and not wanting to complicate his life further. She wonders if he really cares about her or if he's just being nice out of obligation.
