It is said that humans are the biggest enemies of humanity itself. To prove themselves superior, people have strangled humanity, and discrimination has become so common that it feels like a "buy one, get two free" offer in a mall. But beyond all this, in New York, lived Aaron Carter, a young man who did not possess any such qualities. Fate had already labeled him as poor because the moment people saw him, they would say:
"Hey! Aren't you that broke guy?"
Aaron was very intelligent and quite sharp in appearance, but due to his dire financial condition, he lived a simple life with his parents. While other guys his age partied, dressed in designer clothes, and raced their motorcycles on the streets, Aaron Carter simply went from home to college, then to his food delivery job. If he ever got free time, he would spend it with his girlfriend, Samantha Jones.
Looking at the rich boys around him, Aaron would often think:
"One day… One day, I'll buy my own bike and take Samantha all over New York. She'll be so happy, and then no one will call me broke anymore."
Just then, his phone started ringing.
A man shouted from behind: "He's dozing off again! Half his salary is already gone, and now he'll lose his job too! Hey! Are you deaf? Can't you hear the phone ringing? Stop daydreaming and focus on work!"
Hearing this, Aaron looked at his boss and quickly replied, "Yes, yes, boss! I'm on it!"
For the past six years, Aaron had been working at Chase's Diner, owned by Michael Chase.
He picked up the phone and said, "Hello! This is Aaron from Chase's Diner in New York. How can I assist you?"
This was Aaron's standard line every time he answered a call.
"Yes, I need two bowls of ramen, one chicken soup, and two sandwiches. Deliver it to 7th Avenue, House No. 4, near Central Park."
The customer responded from the other side.
"Yes, sir. Your order will be delivered shortly."
Michael Chase had given Aaron a bicycle, on which he placed the food and got ready for delivery.
Just as he was about to leave, his boss gritted his teeth and warned, "Listen! If you delay this delivery again, don't bother coming back here!"
Aaron quickly replied, "Yes, boss! This time, I won't be late."
Aaron set off on his bicycle for the delivery.
While riding, he thought to himself, "Tomorrow, I'll take Samantha to Times Square, and we'll enjoy ice cream while admiring the lights."
Just then, he thought he caught a glimpse of Samantha.
Curious, he turned around to look.
What he saw left him in utter disbelief.
Samantha was walking out of a mall, holding hands with another guy.
And Aaron recognized the guy immediately—it was Ryan Miller, a student from his college.
Ryan Miller was the richest guy in their college because his father owned a massive business—and even the college itself was partly funded by his family. Everyone knew Ryan's reputation. He was the kind of guy who was seen with a new girl every few weeks.
In the past, Ryan had often flirted with Samantha, which was why Aaron had repeatedly told her to stay away from him.
But today, seeing Samantha with Ryan filled Aaron with rage.
He stormed up to them and shouted at Ryan, "Ryan, you bastard! How dare you—"
Aaron was about to charge at Ryan when Samantha stepped between them and pushed him back.
Confused, Aaron looked at her.
Samantha spoke, "Aaron, now that you've seen us together, let me make it clear—we're done!"
"Done? But Samantha, how—?"
Aaron asked in shock.
"Yes, we're done! You heard me right. I love Ryan, not you!"
Samantha declared while holding Ryan's hand.
"Staying with you would ruin my life! Ryan just spent $200 on shopping for me, and you wanted to take me to Times Square for ice cream? You can barely afford to survive—how could I live a broke life with you?"
Finishing her words, Samantha smirked.
Ryan turned to her and said mockingly, "Babe, is this the same broke delivery guy who thinks he's your boyfriend?"
Ryan then looked at Aaron and laughed.
"Come on, babe, why are we wasting our time with this loser?"
Ryan sneered before getting into his sports car with Samantha and driving away.
Aaron stood frozen.
He couldn't believe what had just happened.
Before he could process anything, his phone started ringing again.
It was his boss, Michael Chase.
As soon as Aaron picked up and said "Hello," Michael exploded, "I sent you to make a delivery! Did you fall asleep on the way?"
"Sorry, sir… Something urgent came up…"
Aaron replied regretfully.
"I sent you to do my work! I don't care about your stupid problems!"
Michael snapped.
"I hired you to work—not to apologize and make customers angry!"
Before Aaron could say anything, Michael cut him off, "You don't need to come back to my diner anymore!"
With that, he hung up the call.
Aaron was hit with another problem before he could even process the first one.
This evening was turning out to be the worst for him.
The girl he loved left him because he was poor, and now, the only job he had was gone too.
Aaron walked alone on the street, overwhelmed by everything that had just happened. He felt completely broken inside.
As he walked, two tears rolled down his cheeks.
Wiping his face, he whispered to himself,
"No... I won't give up like this. To overcome these struggles, I'll have to work even harder."
Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself.
Just then, he heard a voice nearby.
"No… This formula is wrong too. The entire foundation is incorrect. I think we should just abandon this project."
Hearing this, Aaron turned to see where the voice was coming from.
A man who looked around 60 years old was sitting on a bench at the side of the road, talking on the phone while scribbling a formula on paper.
It seemed like, despite his efforts, he wasn't able to find the solution he was looking for.
Aaron glanced at the formula, and instantly, the correct solution flashed in his mind.
He walked up to the man and said, "Sir, the formula should be like this."
Saying this, Aaron wrote the correct formula on the paper.
As soon as the man saw it, his eyes widened in shock.
He stood up and looked at Aaron.
"How did you solve it so easily? Do you even know what kind of formula this is?"
Aaron replied calmly, "This formula will be used when data is transferred within a system. It will be crucial in building AI robots."
Hearing this, the man was not only pleased but also astounded by Aaron's knowledge.
Introducing himself, he said, "I am Dr. Richard Anderson, a scientist. But compared to your intellect, I am nothing. The formula my team and I struggled with for two years—you solved in mere seconds, and that too, perfectly!"
Aaron smiled and replied, "Nice to meet you, sir. I'm Aaron Carter, a student at New York University."
Dr. Richard Anderson looked at Aaron carefully and realized that the boy was going through a tough time.
Impressed by his intelligence, the doctor wanted to help him.
The doctor observed Aaron from head to toe. He could tell that Aaron's situation wasn't great, but he wanted to help him because of his sharp mind. So, he said,
"Aaron, would you like to take on this project? I mean, building robots. Honestly, I was never really interested in this project, and if you manage to create these robots, your life might change forever."
Aaron thought for a moment and replied,
"But I don't have a lab or the necessary equipment. How can I possibly do this?"
"You can use my lab if you want," the doctor offered. "You'll find everything you need there. I'm heading out for some work, and I have no idea when I'll return, so you can use all the equipment while I'm gone."
Hearing this, Aaron was visibly happy. He immediately agreed to take on the project, and the doctor handed him the lab's address with a smile. Before leaving, Aaron said,
"Doctor, with your help, I can complete this project in a week. Thank you so much."
The doctor liked his confidence. Just then, his car arrived, and he left.
When Aaron reached the lab, he was stunned. It was a high-tech facility. Wasting no time, he started working.
After just one day and two sleepless nights, he finally created what he had been striving for. As he looked at the robots standing before him, he felt both happiness and doubt.
"Was it really this easy to build robots in just two days? Or did I make some mistakes?" he wondered.
Aaron had created two robots that looked exactly like real humans. It was time to test them. He asked,
"Who are you?"
The robots replied,
"We are AI-powered systems, designed and built by you."
Not only did they look like humans, but they even spoke like them. A calm smile spread across Aaron's face.
"You are Aaron Carter, the most intelligent student at New York University," one of the robots said.
Aaron was taken aback. "Wait, I haven't told you anything about myself. How do you know this?"
"We have access to all kinds of stored data and information. Just by making eye contact, we can gather all relevant details. But don't worry, everything will remain private. No one else can access this data except you," the robots assured him.
Aaron had designed them exactly the way he had imagined. He gave them separate names—one was Ryan, and the other was Max. Upon receiving their names, Ryan and Max seemed pleased.
Looking at them, Aaron said, "So, I've created you both. But as Dr. Richard said, this will help me escape poverty. How is that going to happen?"
Hearing this, Ryan spoke up. "Yes, we can help you, but we need your permission."
"Alright, I give you permission," Aaron said.
Ryan and Max instantly started processing data within their systems. The next moment, without asking Aaron for anything, they had already created a bank account for him using his fingerprints.
Then Max said, "Your account at City Bank has been successfully created, and now your balance is—"
Before Max could finish, Aaron interrupted, "What's the point of a bank account if there's no money in it?"
Max replied, "The money has been deposited as well."
Aaron, uninterested, asked casually, "How much?"
"$91.44 billion," Max said.
For a few moments, Aaron was silent. Then, in shock, he said, "$91.44 billion?! Where did all this money come from? This can't be mine!"
"It is yours," Ryan reassured him. "With our system, we have created a completely legal account, and all the money in it belongs to you."
Aaron still couldn't believe it. "Are you serious? Is this really mine?"
"Yes, and if this amount isn't enough, we can increase it," Max added.
Aaron quickly shook his head. "No, no! This is more than enough!"
Overwhelmed with excitement, he hugged both of them. Seeing Aaron happy, Ryan and Max also expressed their joy.
Ryan then told Aaron, "You can go to the bank tomorrow morning and withdraw your money."
Aaron nodded and told them to rest, then went to sleep himself.
That night, he couldn't sleep. His mind kept racing, thinking about how this sudden fortune was going to change his life forever.
