Iskandar's POV
"Congratulations on winning the project, Sir." My secretary whispered being cautious enough to not let anyone else hear her in the conference room.
I smiled and slightly nodded.
"With this project, the shares of our company will jump record high." She added, getting excited about it.
I cleared my throat and took the file from her. "Inform about it to Ishaan. He might be biting his nails in worry." I said, maintaining my composer.
It's still to be announced to the public that I won the fucking project.
She nodded and went out of the conference room.
After signing one last file. I gladly accepted the congratulations from everyone in the room.
Stepping out of the conference room, I loosened my tie. Everyone in the office looked at me with curiosity burning in their eyes a I gave them a slight nodded gesturing that our company won the project. They all burst out smiling and congratulating me at the same time.
Of course they'll be happy after all it was one of the most important projects. I did my best to earn it. After numerous sleepless nights and tired days, finally I got what I wanted. It was my dream project.
Today's the best day of my life.
As I stepped out of the office, I made my way straight to Henry's house. Parking the car, I entered inside and a huge smile crept on my face as soon as my childhood friend came forward to hug me.
"Finally you got the project. I'm so happy for you, man." He said.
I threw my blazer aside and sprawled on his couch. "Fuck, I'm craving some pizza. Order it please and don't forget to pay the bill."
He gave me a poker face. "You know right that you're a fu king billionaire. Your name comes in one of the five richest people in the country and yet all you do is crash at my place and make me pay all your food bills."
"You're an architectural engineer. You can afford my food bills, no?" I said, turning on the TV.
He clicked his tongue in disbelief. "Seriously dude?"
I laughed at his expressions. "You're shitty face is making me lose my appetite."
"Fuck you, Iskandar." He spat.
I laughed even more. Irritating him is the best therapy.
He ordered the pizza while throwing a few curses at me. Meanwhile, I took out my phone to check if Daisy has messaged me or not.
It's been a couple of hours since I texted her about the project but there's no reply from the other side.
I frowned and turned my attention back to Henry. "Dude, Daisy is not answering my texts."
"She has a life of her own, don't you know." He shrugged.
"But she's my girlfriend." I scratched the back of my head wondering about her reaction once she gets to know why this project matters a lot to me.
It's been three years since we're dating and yet I haven't told her about my demons.
I think now is the right time to tell her everything about me. Yes, I'm going to let her know about all the skeletons that I've been hiding in my closet for so long.
"You both should get married. I mean you're already twenty-eight." He said.
A strange sensation burst into my abdomen at the mention of marrying Daisy and I couldn't help but smile.
It would be such a good life to marry the woman I love.
"Wait, let me call her and ask her to join us. We should celebrate this day. After all, you finally got your dream project." He said with a huge smile and quickly tapped on her number and brought the phone to his ear.
I grinned, switching the TV channel. I just need a long sleep. My body and mind both.
"Iskandar." He called out my name.
"Mhmm."
"You should come with me." He ran his finger through his hair and stared at the space.
I raised my eyebrows. "What's wrong?"
But he said nothing. He shoved his cellphone into his denim pocket and released a deep breath. He walked out of the room in hurry making me go anxious. I quickly followed him and wasting anytime, I sat inside the car.
"What's wrong, Henry?" I asked, again.
His grip on the steering wheel tightened as he increased the speed of the car and in no time he stopped the car in front of the hospital.
I looked at him in worry, hoping that maybe he'll say something but he didn't. He rushed inside the hospital and after talking something to the reception desk, he ran to the OT.
I blinked trying to understand the situation but all in vain. I stood in front of the OT in confusion as he paced back and forth in anticipation.
I stayed rooted to my place for so long until the light of the OT turned off and doctors came out.
"How is she, doctor?" He asked.
"I'm sorry but we couldn't save her."
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and was about to ask something to Henry before it hit me.
Daisy.

"Iskandar. It's been two days and you haven't eaten anything. Henry said as he sat next to me on the floor.
I kept my eyes fixed on the floor and felt the cold tile under my bare feet.
"You didn't even attend her funeral." His voice echoing in the whole room.
Funeral?
I blinked and the numb feeling in my chest itches to explode.
"Don't hold your tears, man. I know it's hard. Fuck. I will never be able to understand your pain but don't suppress it. You haven't she'd a single tear in the last two days. You shouldn't bottle up your emotions." He patted my shoulders.
"Please, leave me alone." I said in a hollow tone.
"Uh...Iskandar. There's something that you should know." He said.
"The daughter of the famous politician was involved in the accident. The girl was drunk and she hit Daisy with her car. Her father made sure to destroy all the CCTV cameras that proved involvement of her daughter in the accident. We don't have any solid evidence to prove her guilty."
I snapped my head in his direction and for a moment, my head tried to process the new information.
She killed my Daisy and yet she's freely living her life?
I clenched my fists as the feeling of numbness evaporated in thin air and was replaced by anger.
"Find everything about that bitch." I spoked.
