After leaving Makino's tavern, Alex D. Ivanov headed directly to the harbor of Windmill Village. There, he found several fishing boats.
Alex remembered that Luffy had met Roronoa Zoro when he arrived at Shells Town, the naval base of the East Blue. According to the timeline, Zoro had been adrift at sea for a day and ended up hiding in a barrel.
Alex's plan was simple: head straight to Orange Town, where, in a few days, Nami would appear to steal Buggy the Clown's navigational chart.
Alex approached a fisherman and asked:
"Do you know how to get to Orange Town?"
The fisherman, though initially suspicious, decided to help.
"Orange Town is quite far. You'll need to sail 25 degrees southeast. The third island you encounter will be Orange Town."
Although the fisherman knew the route, Alex realized that navigating without a compass would be tricky. Fortunately, they weren't in the Grand Line, where magnetic fields were chaotic. A simple compass would suffice.
With 20,000 berries from the 100,000 Makino had given him, Alex bought a small boat and a compass.
It was Alex's first time sailing in such a small boat. He estimated it would take him a full day to reach his destination. Since it was already late, he decided to rest and continue the next day. Additionally, he planned to stop at the first island to "redistribute" some wealth.
"The rich exploit the poor, and I'll just be balancing things out," Alex thought with a smile.
He needed money, lots of money. Each lottery draw from the system cost 100 million berries, and Alex was determined to get them.
As he rowed, Alex looked out at the vast ocean. The immensity of the sea filled him with awe but also determination. Although his arms were starting to ache, he noticed his strength increasing slightly with the effort.
"The training is paying off," he thought, feeling more optimistic.
The D family wasn't ordinary, and Alex knew his lineage was special. They were known as the "enemies of God," and there was no one insignificant among them.
As night fell, Alex finally spotted the silhouette of an island. Tired of the small boat, he decided he would "borrow" a larger one upon arrival.
A few meters from the shore, Alex tried using his ice magic to walk on water. However, his body wasn't trained enough, and he ended up falling into the sea.
"Damn!" he exclaimed, drenched and frustrated.
Eventually, he made it to the beach, where the white sand shimmered under the moonlight. The sea breeze and the sound of the waves created a serene atmosphere.
The village was still lively despite the late hour. Alex dried his clothes and headed to a restaurant to eat something and gather information.
While enjoying a dessert, he overheard some men talking:
"Have you heard? The O'Shelly family has raised taxes again. Life is becoming unbearable."
"Yeah, but what can we do? They're the most powerful family in the village. They have weapons, and we have nothing."
Alex smiled. He had found his target.
The O'Shelly family was the absolute ruler of the village. With weapons and connections to the Navy, they did whatever they wanted without fear of retaliation.
The patriarch, Orlando O'Shelly, was a fat and cruel man. Though he lived in opulence, his life was filled with excess and decadence. At that moment, he was enjoying his "nightlife" with two women who clearly weren't there of their own will.
Alex arrived at the O'Shelly mansion. The guards, careless and distracted, posed no challenge. With a simple gesture, Alex froze them with his ice magic.
Upon entering, he heard screams of pain. One of Orlando's slaves was being mistreated. Alex couldn't allow that.
"Who dares interrupt me?" Orlando roared upon seeing Alex.
Without giving him a chance to react, Alex froze him on the spot.
The room was filled with treasures: gold coins, jewels, and valuable items. Alex used the system to convert everything into berries.
"Recover," he ordered.
The treasures vanished, and Alex's wealth increased to 5,432 million berries. Though it was an impressive amount, it only gave him the chance to spin the system's roulette a few times.
"Money doesn't fall from the sky," Alex murmured, recalling an old saying.
With his loot secured, Alex prepared to continue his journey to Orange Town. There, he hoped to face Buggy the Clown and gain even more riches.
Meanwhile, in Orange Town, a young girl with orange hair and brown eyes, Nami, sneezed, unaware that her buried treasure under the orange orchard had already been marked by someone else.
