I was being pressed on from all the directions.
A person who seemed to be the father sat in the middle of the dining table while the others sat on either side of the rectangular dining table.
I don't actually really understand why I feel gazes from everyone right now.
Matter of fact, I still did not get any of this body's older memories and am still clueless as to who these people are supposed to be.
To my left sat a girl, not much older than fourteen.
Everyone at the dining table had similar features. They had extremely dark features, dark eyes, and dark hair, but also contrasting to it, their lighter skin tones.
Serving us were three women, all wearing white clothes, much different from ours, which reeked of nobility.
Many of their clothes looked like they had been restitched multiple times before.
Obviously, they're the family servants.
One of these women came towards me, and placed a large piece of steak on my place.
"Thank you."
I said it by instinct. It was always a habit of mine to thank anyone at a restaurant who served me anything.
I looked around and noticed that everyone's eyes had widened.
It took a few moments before each of them regained their composure.
Shit. Did I do something out of character?
I don't have a clue of what this guy does or how he behaves.
I looked around and noticed that no one else thanked the servers like I did.
So that was the reason: the thank you. It's not that I acted out of character; I completely acted otherworldly.
I should improve my observation skills more and imitate others for now.
"Ahem-"
The man coughed so as to gather everyone's attention.
The old man doesn't realize it, but he already had all our attention from the beginning.
I think everyone is just waiting for him to start eating so they can start eating themselves.
"I'll be leaving for work early today since we've been having some issues with the farmers and the alchemist association. I want to resolve this matter as quickly as possible, or the association will start to purchase the herbs from another family."
"Let's start eating."
He took the chopsticks placed next to him and started taking bites of the steak, which had already been cut into smaller pieces.
That guy is so direct. I guess that's what a leader sounds like.
Everyone followed behind him and started taking bites of the steak.
Now here comes another problem.
I DON'T HAVE A CLUE OF HOW TO USE A CHOPSTICK.
I cried inside my mind.
What can I do?
How do I even hold this?
I looked across to the other side of the table, where a boy much younger than me sat. Having features similar to me, I'd even question if that's what I looked like when I was younger.
If it was, then I definitely was a popular kid. Did I say "I"? I meant the owner of this body.
The boy elegantly held the chopsticks between his fingers and took each bite with grace.
Alright, I just need to imitate him.
Copy it.
It's as simple as that.
I picked up the chopsticks and placed my middle finger in between the two sticks.
Slightly turned my fingers downwards.
Yes, this is it.
Now the part of picking it up.
I moved my chopsticks forward towards one of the pieces of chicken.
Grabbing it from both sides, I gently picked it up and moved the piece of meat towards my mouth.
I guess it was too gentle because I managed to slip it before it reached my mouth.
…
…
…
Everyone stopped eating and had their attention completely directed towards me.
…
…
…
What do I do now? What do I say?
How did I even manage to get into this situation?
Oh yeah, I've got an idea.
I turned on my poker face.
Looked at each and every one straight into their eyes. One by one.
The younger guy, the older guy, the father, the woman who seemed to be my mother, and then the younger sister.
"What?"
I snorted with a very arrogant tone.
"Ahem, it's nothing."
The father replied.
No way in hell did I get out of that situation so easily..
Kill me, kill me already. How can I even live with this anymore?
I cried deep in my mind.
**
The dinner continued without another problem.
The problem being me not doing something to embarrass myself.
So let's summarize the situation: I probably have zero respect within my family right now, and I still have no clue who I am.
Knock
Knock
Knock
Not again. What is it going to be now?
"Brother, Isn't it time you leave for school?"
School?
SCHOOL?
