Chereads / I Married His Uncle After He Cheated / Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Meeting

Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Meeting

Daniella's POV

'I just got married to my boyfriend's uncle!'

At the realization of the thought, panic gripped me.

My heart pounded heavily in my chest, 'How was I going to live in the same house with Jonathan?'

I sincerely wished I could turn back the hands of time and refuse this marriage but there was no way out of this.

This was the most difficult part of my life that I had to face, living with my fake husband and my ex boyfriend.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Abraham's voice snapped out of my thoughts.

I quickly shifted my gaze to him with a tight smile on my face, "Nothing baby. He just looks like you a lot."

Abraham caressed my cheeks softly, "I thought you knew him."

I shook my head in the negative with a nervous chuckle, "No no, I don't." My eyes glanced over at Jonathan whose profile was welling up in fury.

I leaned into Abraham's body, resting my head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me.

"You two are so adorable!" My mother in law complimented and Abraham released me from his hug.

********************

The past few weeks at Abraham's home had been beautiful, surprisingly. Abraham was really good with acting. Sometimes, I'd usually find myself wondering if he had feelings for me.

I had thought living with Abraham and Jonathan would be difficult but it turned out to be easy. Especially after Jonathan went on a short trip. Ever since the introduction, I hadn't set my eyes on him since then.

Compared to the small house where I lived, the Brooks lived in a huge mansion. Growing up, I only knew there were four rooms in a house but here, the rooms were up to forty eight.

The luxury I enjoyed here was new to me and sometimes it bothered me. I always felt like I didn't truly belong here.

Abraham's family made me doubt even more as they were so hostile whenever he wasn't around. I couldn't complain to Abraham because I was treated like a queen in front of him.

There were times where I yearned to end this charade but recalling my father's bill, I'd encourage myself to endure it all.

My lips curved downward as I recalled the last mistreatment I received from Abraham's sister.

"You're just a lowlife. A hungry gold digger who runs after men that are old enough to be your father."

Amongst all the insults she hurled at me that night, this one was difficult to forget because I never knew Abraham's age until I got married to him.

How was I supposed to know that he was older than he appeared? That too, a widower? Abraham hid so many things from me and that was a solid reason to end but we'd come too far.

"That's enough thinking now. I should get ready for dinner," I muttered under my breath with a soft sigh.

As I stared at my reflection through the vanity, I noticed the redness in my eyes so I spent the next few minutes applying some make up to my face.

I walked out of the door and I bumped into a wall.

Wait. Walls aren't that firm and soft.

I lifted my head to see what I bumped into and I realized it was Jonathan.

My brows twitched with curiosity, "You? What are you doing here?"

Jonathan's eyes were icy, his profile hardened as he stared at me.

"I should be asking you that."

"What do you mean?"

Jonathan tilted his head closer to my face, "I don't know, maybe you should explain why the fuck you're married to my uncle?"

I rounded my arms around my chest, "That's none of your business."

A scoff broke out from Jonathan's lips, "I can't believe you right now."

Jonathan's presence was beginning to irritate me, I needed to leave.

"I am not interested in arguing with you. I'm going down for dinner."

But Jonathan's words put me to a halt.

"My aunt was right. You're just a gold digger who's here for money."

My blood boiled the moment I heard that, I paced backwards with an index finger pointed towards Jonathan.

"You had better be careful with your words. You all keep calling me that, I wouldn't blame y'all. It takes one to know one." I shot back.

That didn't feel right but I still said it anyway.

Jonathan's brows contorted, "Did you just call my aunt a gold digger?"

"Not just your aunt, you too. And you're not just a gold digger, you're a shameless man who has commitment issues."

My fingers curled into fists as I finished and the anger in me flowed heavier through my veins. The pain from our break up burned in my heart but I tried my best to fight back the tears.

"I didn't have commitment issues! I loved you Daniella. I truly did. But you only cared about my money which was all I gave you."

I breathed a bitter laugh, "Really? You loved me? But you planned to get a child from me and throw me out of your life like some trash? You have no idea how crazy you sound."

I closed in on the distance between us, "I didn't care about your money. I have never cared about your money. You asked me to stop working as a cleaner because you didn't like it. You said that you wanted me to be hassle free so you took up my father's bills so where the fuck was that coming from?!"

Jonathan smirked, "And that's why your father's bills kept increasing right?"

My profile twisted into a frown, "Of course it would increase. I'm not the hospital that issued the bill. Y'know what? Forget this. You'd never understand. You're just a self centered, obnoxious person." I cursed him with my index finger digging into his chest.

As I moved away from him, he stopped me again.

"So that must be why you're married to my uncle isn't it? Act like you love him just so you can have his money to yourself. Wow, you're an ambitious lady I must say."

I spun around with eyes that sparkled with unchecked rage, "Shut the fuck up! You know nothing about our love story. I know it sucks to be with Tara because all she ever needs from you is sex. Must be hard."

"Oh please. Tara is ten times better than you. At least she comes from a wealthy family whereas you come from the slums."

I was just about to deliver another clap back when a voice interrupted me.

"What's going on here?"
