Synopsis
Synopsis: A war-torn kingdom. A prophecy lost to time. A fate neither of them can escape. Zyra Valeris was meant to die. Marked at birth by an ancient curse, she was abandoned to the shadows, her existence erased by those who feared what she might become. But fate had other plans. The night the blood moon rises, Zyra’s dormant powers awaken, and with them, a bond she cannot sever—one that ties her to Kieran Duskbane, the ruthless Shadow King. Kieran has ruled the kingdom of Noctis with an iron will, his name whispered in fear. Cursed by the gods and bound to darkness, he swore never to take a mate—until Zyra crashes into his world, a storm of fire and defiance, awakening a primal hunger he cannot control. The prophecy speaks of a queen who will either save or destroy the world. As war brews and old enemies rise, Zyra and Kieran must decide: fight their fate or embrace the connection that could either break them… or make them unstoppable. But fate is cruel, and love has never been more dangerous. ------- Context: Zyra has just awakened her celestial fire for the first time while trying to escape Kieran. But the moment their bond activates, everything changes. ------- Excerpt: The night bled red. Zyra’s breath came in ragged gasps, her hands trembling as golden fire licked up her arms. The earth beneath her feet cracked from the force of her awakening magic. She had never felt power like this—searing, endless, alive. But she was not alone. A dark presence loomed behind her, and when she turned, her entire body locked in place. Kieran Duskbane. The Shadow King stood mere feet away, his gaze locked onto her with something between fury and hunger. Midnight tendrils of darkness coiled around him like living smoke, shifting as though eager to swallow her whole. The moment their eyes met, the world shuddered. A force—ancient and inescapable—snapped into place between them. Heat ignited beneath Zyra’s skin, foreign and all-consuming. She staggered, clutching her chest, where an invisible thread now tied her to the man before her. His expression darkened. “No.” His voice was raw, almost furious. “This isn’t possible.” Zyra’s vision blurred as pain lanced through her body, a tidal wave of emotions that were not hers. Rage. Hunger. Longing. Him. “No,” he growled again, as if denying fate itself. But it was too late. The bond had sealed. And in that moment, Zyra knew two undeniable truths: She was bound to the most dangerous man in existence. And no matter how hard she fought… she would never escape him. ---

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Night the Stars Burned

The sky split open in fire and blood.

Zyra Valeris ran, her breath ragged as she stumbled over the uneven forest floor. Her heart pounded so violently that it drowned out the screams behind her—the dying wails of her village, set ablaze by unseen enemies.

She didn't look back.

Smoke thickened the air, searing her lungs, but she pushed forward. She had to keep moving. Had to survive.

Lightning cracked above, illuminating the carnage she was leaving behind. Flames swallowed the only home she had ever known, and in the flickering light, shadows moved. Not the kind cast by fire—but something alive.

Her stomach twisted. The Shadow King's men.

Everyone in the village had whispered the rumors. That Kieran Duskbane had eyes everywhere. That his darkness crept into places it should never reach. That once he marked a place for ruin, no one survived.

She hadn't believed them. Until now.

A chilling voice sliced through the roar of the fire.

"Run, little star. See how far you make it."

Zyra's pulse turned to ice. They were close.

Adrenaline surged through her veins as she forced her aching legs to move faster, crashing through the underbrush. But just as she reached the river's edge, something shifted in the air.

The ground trembled. The fire twisted.

And then—the shadows rose.

A massive tendril of darkness erupted from the ground, slamming into her chest and sending her flying backward. She hit the earth hard, pain lancing through her ribs. Dazed, she struggled to rise, but before she could, a figure emerged from the black mist.

A tall, broad-shouldered man cloaked in darkness. His presence was suffocating, a void in the world itself.

Zyra's breath caught in her throat.

Kieran Duskbane.

The Shadow King's icy blue eyes locked onto hers. A smirk curled at his lips—predatory, hungry.

"This is a shame," he murmured. "You would have made a spectacular chase."

The shadows surged toward her, wrapping around her limbs like chains. Zyra gasped as she fought against them, but the more she struggled, the tighter they held. She was trapped.

Kieran stepped closer, tilting his head. "A celestial hiding among mortals? That's bold." His gaze flicked over her, assessing, and then—suddenly, his smirk vanished.

His body stiffened.

A strange force cracked through the air, sending a shudder through her bones. A heat flared in her chest—not from the fire, but from something deeper.

Kieran's breathing turned ragged.

"No," he growled. His expression twisted with something between rage and disbelief. "Not you."

Zyra gasped as the heat in her chest ignited, tendrils of golden fire licking at her skin. A force yanked her toward him, invisible but undeniable.

And in that instant, she felt it.

A connection so deep, so unshakable, that it threatened to consume her.

Her vision blurred as a single truth slammed into her with the force of a falling star.

She and Kieran Duskbane were bound by fate.
