Chapter 1: Ghosted By Love
"Aadi, I promise I will never leave you. I only love you, and if it's not you, then it's no one," she whispered, her eyes locking with mine. I could only smile, feeling the weight of her words.
She gripped my hand tightly, her voice trembling. "Aadi, please don't leave me. I love you. I can't live without you," she pleaded, her gaze filled with desperation.
A few of my classmates stayed behind during break, watching us quietly. Thankfully, I don't think they overheard anything.
"Aadi, what's going on with you?" Ishu asked, nudging me lightly. "Why are you still thinking about her? It's been three years, bro! Move on already. Bhai, how long will you let this drag on? And for God's sake, stop drowning yourself in this stuff!"
I glanced at my phone again, hoping to see a message from her, but there was nothing. My fingers hovered over the screen as I read her last text:
"Aadi, please don't think I'm breaking up with you. I just need to focus on these last two years of higher secondary. Please don't disturb me."
I called her over a hundred times. I texted her, left voice notes, but she never replied. Minutes later, she blocked me everywhere—calls, WhatsApp, Instagram, even offline messages. I felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. I was devastated.
"Bhai, if I get just one more chance…" I muttered, my voice breaking.
"Arey, bro, there's no second chance. She ghosted you! She was just using you. Why can't you see that?" Ishu snapped, his frustration clear.
I tried to shake it off, but deep down, I knew he was right. Still, I couldn't help but hold onto a tiny sliver of hope.
"Bhai, toilet!" I called, my voice distracted.
"It's on the other side," Ishu replied, rolling his eyes.
"Okay, my bad," I muttered. I made my way across the road, but then, in an instant, a speeding dumper struck me.
The next thing I knew, I opened my eyes to a familiar sight—there she was, sitting beside me in her school uniform, right in the middle of the school ground. I couldn't understand what was happening, but I felt a sense of happiness wash over me.
Chapter 2:A Second Chance
She sat near me, her presence comforting yet surreal. We walked back inside the classroom together. It was supposed to be a math class, but no teacher showed up. She sat right in front of me, and I couldn't help but watch her.
I hesitated for a moment before getting up and walking over to her. As soon as I reached her desk, she caught my hand and held it tightly. Her voice was soft but firm as she made those same promises again—the ones I had memorized long ago.
Every day, we texted on WhatsApp, sharing everything about our lives. At school, we were inseparable. I was happy. This time, my past was unfolding the way I had always wished it had.
Her birthday was on November 13. It was the only day that truly mattered to her. We both attended the same afternoon tuition, and I wanted to surprise her. The day before, I went to a watch shop and bought a beautiful watch for her. I knew she would love it.
The next morning, she texted me excitedly, telling me to come to school early—she wanted to celebrate. I smiled at my phone, feeling that familiar warmth in my chest.
Ishu and I arrived early, just as she had asked. She was already there, waiting, her excitement radiating. Her friends gathered around her, urging her to start the celebration.
I pulled Ishu aside. "Bhai, let's check the gift one more time," I said, my fingers brushing against the small box in my pocket.
We went to the toilet, and as I carefully took the watch out, the handling chain suddenly came loose.
"Shit," I muttered. Ishu and I hurried to fix it, our hands fumbling in panic.
By the time we stepped out, the celebration had already begun. She stood in the middle, laughing, surrounded by her friends, the birthday song filling the air.
She didn't wait for me.
A sharp pain shot through my chest. I couldn't breathe. I wanted to scream, to tell her that I was here, that I had come early just for her. But the words never left my lips.
I turned around and ran—straight out of school, straight home.
Later, she called me over and over again, shouting, begging me to come back. She explained that her friends had forced her to start without me. But it didn't matter. The damage was done.
This was the mistake I had made that day.
But this time, I knew better.
As I relived this moment, I chose differently. Instead of going to school early, I stayed home. When she asked, I made an excuse. I never showed up for her birthday.
And just like that, the past changed.
Chapter 3: Our First Kiss
I thought everything was going fine, but time and fate had their own plans.
After the birthday, it took a few days, but eventually, we started talking again. Things slowly returned to normal, as if nothing had ever happened.
Then, one day, everything changed.
Her mother caught her texting me—"I love you" and all those sweet little messages we shared daily. That night, my mother received a call.
"I have one son—an engineer. One daughter—she's going to be a doctor. And this useless boy…" her mother's voice dripped with disgust. "If you want your son to marry my daughter, then take her today itself."
My mother didn't say a word.
Then, her sister messaged me. If you text her again, I will go straight to the police and have you arrested.
I was just a kid—immature and scared. The moment I read that message, my hands turned cold. I stopped texting her.
But my present self didn't want to change anything. This wasn't a mistake—it was just how things were meant to be.
For the next one or two weeks, we didn't talk. Not a single word.
Then, one day, she stormed up to me, her eyes blazing.
"Why the hell did you stop talking to me?!" she scolded, hands on her hips, demanding an answer.
I just stood there, unable to explain, unable to tell her how terrified I had been. But in the next moment, all the distance, all the silence—it vanished.
We were back to how we used to be.
Since her house was near our school, every afternoon, my friends and I would walk around that area, just to get a glimpse of her. Seeing her, even for a moment, felt like a secret victory.
Life was going exactly the way I had wanted.
Every afternoon, we attended tuition together. As time passed, I found myself getting closer to her, inch by inch, moment by moment.
Then, one day, in that old tuition building, I kissed her.
My first kiss. Our first kiss.
Not every day, but whenever we found the chance, we stole moments for ourselves. And in that same building, we even celebrated our anniversary.
Everything felt perfect.
We were preparing for our HSLC final exams, but in between books and studies, we had each other.
One afternoon, she arrived early at the tuition building-2:30 PM. We weren't supposed to be there until 3:30, but luckily, Ishu and I had come early too, planning to play Free Fire upstairs.
As we climbed up, I saw her standing there, alone.
Ishu didn't need an explanation. He just gave me a look and walked outside.
I went to her, my heart racing. She looked up at me, waiting. I reached out, wrapping my arms around her waist. A little soft, a little warm.
Then, I leaned in.
Our lips met.
For a moment, I pulled away, just to see if she was into it. But to my surprise, she didn't hesitate. She leaned in again, kissing me back -passionately, hungrily.
Chapter 4: The Day We Made Love
We kept going.
After that day, we focused on our HSLC exams. We took our first exam and came back home. But that night… things took a different turn.
Our chats, which were usually filled with random talks and sweet messages, turned into something else.
"If I could…" I texted, leaving the sentence unfinished.
"No." she replied immediately.
"Just once?"
"No."
She kept refusing until 10 PM. But I knew how to convince her. I played my cards right-acted a little hurt, a little disappointed. Maybe I was pushing too much, but I wanted it.
And then finally, she said yes.
The next exam was two days later. That night, we kept talking until midnight-messages filled with things we had never spoken about before.
I couldn't sleep.
The next day, I made a decision.
I went to her house. Her parents weren't home.
She let me in.
I stepped into her room, and there she was-beautiful, cute, perfect. My eyes couldn't leave her.
And then… it happened.
The next day, we went to give our exam. And then the next. And the next.
Our results came out. Not perfect, but good enough to satisfy us.
Chapter 5:A Future That I Could Change
Now, a new problem began—college. I started worrying about whether we would end up in the same place or be separated. The thought of not seeing her every day, not walking the same corridors, made my chest feel heavy.
Before we could face that, we had our farewell. All our classmates decided to have a get-together, a school-leaving party. We laughed, we ate, we made memories one last time before stepping into a new chapter of life.
But my mind was elsewhere.
As days passed, my worries deepened. The thought of losing her became unbearable. I wanted to be with her, to feel close to her again before we went our separate ways.
I asked her.
She said no.
I asked again.
She still refused.
But like always, I knew how to convince her. And finally, she said yes.
At that moment, my present self knew—this was the mistake I needed to change.
A flashback hit me.
I had been desperate to be with her one more time before parting ways. She had invited me to her home, saying she just wanted to spend time together. But back then, I was too blind to understand what she meant. I thought she was rejecting me, so I stubbornly refused to go.
The flashback ended.
This time, I wouldn't repeat that mistake.
The day I was supposed to visit her house, she and her friend were waiting at the school gate for her friend's brother. I had asked my buddy Ayang to come with me, and we took his father's bike, reaching there by 8:00 AM.
But we had to wait.
And wait.
By 1:30 PM, frustration boiled inside me. The anger slipped out before I could control it. Right there, in public, I said something I shouldn't have.
She froze. Her face changed. Then, without a word, she turned and walked inside her house.
I followed.
This time, I wouldn't let my anger ruin things.
I went inside and sat near her. She wouldn't look at me. Slowly, I reached for her hand and whispered, "I'm sorry."
Still, she stayed silent.
I stayed there, beside her. Letting her feel that I was truly sorry.
Minutes passed, then she finally looked at me. I saw the hurt in her eyes, and it killed me.
"I'm sorry," I said again.
She nodded, but I knew it would take more than words to fix this.
After a while, I stood up to leave. I had done what I could.
As I walked out, I felt a strange sense of relief. Like things would finally be alright. Like she would stay with me, and we would have our future together.
I believed it.
Chapter 6:The Truth That Destroyed Me
The world felt hazy as I opened my eyes. A dull beeping filled my ears, the scent of antiseptic burning my nose. My head ached, my body felt heavy, but I was awake.
I was back.
For a moment, I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, trying to make sense of everything. The memories of my past, the changes I made—they all felt so real. I had done everything right this time. I had fixed my mistakes.
She would be here.
I forced myself up, my voice hoarse as I called out, "Ishu."
Within seconds, Ishu was by my side. Relief flashed across his face before it twisted into frustration. "Bhai, tu thik hai? You've been in a coma for weeks!"
I ignored his concern. "Where is she?"
Ishu's expression darkened. "Aadi…"
"I fixed everything, Ishu. This time, I did it right. She—she must be waiting for me, right?" I felt my heartbeat quicken.
Ishu ran a hand through his hair and let out an exasperated sigh. "Bhai, are you mad? I told you to stop thinking about her."
His words didn't make sense. "No, Ishu, you don't understand. I changed everything. She has to be—"
"She's gone, Aadi," Ishu snapped. "She got married. She's not waiting for you. She never was."
I felt the air leave my lungs.
Married?
No. That wasn't how it was supposed to go. I had done everything right. I had changed the past.
Then why…?
I sat there, frozen, the weight of reality crushing down on me.
No matter how hard you try…
No matter what you change…
You can't escape fate.
The past is the past. The future is already written.
And I… was just a fool who thought I could rewrite my story.
A bitter smile crept onto my lips as I leaned back against the hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
It was over.
And I had lost her forever.
Chapter 7:Some Things Are Meant To Be
Aadi's mind spun, his breath unsteady. She was married—those words echoed in his head like a cruel joke. His chest tightened as if someone had ripped something out of him.
And then, a memory surfaced, sharp and vivid.
"Mri, don't leave me. From today, we are husband and wife. Please… don't leave me."
She had looked at him, eyes filled with a love so pure, so certain.
"If I don't get to marry you, I will never marry another man. I love you, Mri."
The past and present blurred. The girl who once made such a promise was now gone, bound to another life—a life where Aadi no longer existed.
His fingers clenched into fists. No matter how much he had tried to fix things, destiny had already written its own ending.
Motto:- "No matter how hard you try, you can't change the past or the future. What is meant to happen will happen."
