Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: The Dark Reflection

The next day, Kagero prepared for an intense training session with Riko as he began learning to control the power he had gained. But with every moment, he discovered more about the consequences of using these abilities. The fire he unleashed consumed his body, gnawed at his mind, and threw him into visions of the past and future. His power originated from the "Echo of Hell," an ancient force he had unintentionally awakened during that catastrophic moment. However, if he continued using it recklessly, he risked losing himself entirely.

During Kagero's training, Riko warned him:

"Every time you use this power, you will lose a part of yourself. But if you can control it, you will become stronger than anything."

As Kagero hurled flames at fallen trees in the forest, he felt every part of his body burning from the intense heat. He could sense his strength increasing, but his mind and memory grew hazy. And yet, he couldn't stop. A part of him was desperate to become stronger—no matter the cost.

Meanwhile, Riko tried to instill in him the understanding that mastering the "Echo of Hell" was not just about controlling fire—it was a battle against oneself. She, too, had lost much of her former power due to the "Echo of Shadows" and had avoided using it for a long time.

As Kagero continued his training, a massive shadow suddenly loomed over them. A colossal figure emerged from the mist, its presence ominous and suffocating. It moved with a terrifying grace, resembling one of the enemies seeking to take control of the world.

Saito Akira, one of the powerful leaders of the "Shadows," had found them.
