Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Eyes of the King

The embers of the second warehouse still smoldered in Alexander Reid's mind as he stood on his penthouse balcony, gazing out over the city. The scent of smoke had faded, but its presence lingered in his thoughts. He had struck twice. Fisk would not ignore a second wound. The Kingpin's gaze would now be searching for the hand that dared to defy him.

The skyline stretched before him like a kingdom of glass and steel, but Alexander knew the rot beneath it. Behind every lit window, there were lives being shaped by men like Fisk—through fear, through addiction, through violence. He had seen it. He had felt it. Now, he was tearing it apart, one piece at a time.

[Task Progress: 2/3 Supply Chains Disrupted.]

The system prompt hovered in his vision, a reminder that his work was not yet complete. One more supply line to sever. But this final one would not be like the others.

Through his reconnaissance and the information squeezed out of Delgado, Alexander had identified the third and most vital link in Fisk's chain—a heavily fortified storage facility disguised as a legitimate import business near the East River docks. It was Fisk's crown jewel in his smuggling network. Weapons, drugs, and money moved through this hub like blood through veins.

Taking it down would cripple Fisk. But it would also paint a target on Alexander's back.

He had no choice.

The night was cold when he set out, his dark attire blending into the shadows. His body felt stronger with each step, the power coursing through him with every breath. But his mind was sharper still—this mission would require more than strength. He needed precision. He needed to be perfect.

Arriving at the East River docks, Alexander perched atop a crane, overlooking the facility below. Security was tight. Armed guards patrolled in pairs, floodlights sweeping across the yard. Cameras covered every entrance, and vehicles moved in and out with practiced efficiency. Fisk had invested in protection.

Alexander took his time, studying their movements, mapping out the patterns. Every gap, every blind spot, every second of opportunity—he absorbed it all. His pulse slowed, his breathing steady. This was his world now. The hunt. The strike.

When the moment came, he moved like the wind.

Dropping silently behind a stack of shipping containers, he crept toward the nearest guard. The man stood with his back turned, casually smoking a cigarette. He had no idea death was approaching.

A swift chokehold rendered the man unconscious, his body lowered gently to the ground. Alexander dragged him behind the containers before advancing.

The second and third guards fell in succession, each incapacitated before they could sound the alarm. One had heard a noise, turning just in time to see Alexander's fist connect with his temple. The other barely managed a whisper before he was dragged into the dark.

His movements were fluid, each strike a blend of power and precision. The system had molded him into a weapon.

As he approached the warehouse entrance, he disabled the cameras with quick cuts to their cables. He stayed low, every action calculated, every step deliberate.

Inside, more guards waited, stationed around the massive stacks of illegal cargo. The air was thick with the smell of gun oil and damp concrete. Conversations echoed softly, the tone of men who thought they were untouchable.

Alexander didn't hesitate.

He struck hard and fast. His fists connected with bone and flesh, his agility allowing him to weave through gunfire. One guard managed to fire a shot, the bullet grazing Alexander's arm. Pain flared, but he pushed through it. Another guard lunged with a knife; Alexander twisted his wrist, disarming him before driving his knee into the man's ribs.

The guards fought back, but they were outmatched. The system-enhanced strength gave him the edge, and within minutes, the warehouse fell silent—save for the faint groans of the defeated.

He set the charges along the main supply crates, ensuring the destruction would be total. He paused for a brief moment, surveying the room. Drugs worth millions, weapons meant to fuel violence, money stained with blood. All of it would burn.

With a final glance at the warehouse, he activated the detonator and melted into the shadows.

The explosion lit up the night sky, flames reflecting off the water. Sirens wailed as emergency services rushed toward the blaze. But Alexander was already gone, his silhouette vanishing into the city's veins.

Back in his penthouse, he stared at the city once more. The skyline glittered, but he saw it for what it was—a battlefield. He had won a battle, but war was coming. Fisk would know his name soon—and the Kingpin would not forgive.

Alexander clenched his fists.

Let him come.
