~ Ashley's pov ~
My dad and I sat on the plastic chair in the hospital as we waited, we stared at the flashing red light which was a sign that a surgery was going on inside the room. We prayed anxiously in our hearts for the safety of our loved one, my mom. With hope we rose to our feet when the light stopped and the door was pushed opened, but only to be met with a tragic news that nearly cost the life of my father.
"Ehm, excuse me sir, are you Mr Hawthrone?" a doctor asked as he approached us.
Yes doctor how is my wife, how was the surgery, my dad asked longing in his voice.
"We are very sorry Mr Hawthrone but your wife couldn't make it, she was brought in late,we tried our best but she lost too much blood and she could not bear the pain anymore, though we gave her anesthesia it wore off more quickly than we expected but we figured it out two minutes late and when we checked she was already gone. I apologize once more Mr Hathrone, he says as he went away.
I stood there in horror abour the tragedy I just heard about my loving mother but my heart almost stopped beating when I saw my dad stagger a few steps back and fell on the cold floor not breathing or moving.
"Doctor !!!" I screamed, fear etched on my voice, not daring to think of losing another important person in my life. I watched as he was wheeled into one of the room for some check up.
Once again I sat on the plastic chair my mind in choas of what I just heard about my mother I soon started to feel tears gathering at the corner of my eyes, realizing that our once perfect family has been turned into shambles.
The hospital was not a quiet place at all, I could hear the cries of pregnant women, foot steps of nurses and sobs of people who just lost their loved ones. I sat there dejected not knowing what I was going to do but my heart was soon filled with a new found hope as I realised that I still have my best friend, my father and my loving husband who supports me every time.
Just then I heard the sound of footsteps coming towards my direction and I rose up to my feet with determination.
"Excuse me miss Audrey your dad is at ward 6, he would be discharged by 2:00pm when he is done reasting and your dad was diagnosed of panic disorder which we will try our best to cure but we will need you to avoid mentioning anything related to your mom which can trigger his emotions and lead him to a severe state that can put his life at risk.
And I will need you to bring him for daily check up" I stared numbly at the doctor shocked at what I just heard *panic disorder* I screamed at the back of my mind but still answered him with a cool voice.
Okay sir I will definitely take your advice but please can you show me the way to ward 6 I would like to see how he is doing.
"Okay follow me" I received an answer with a low voice which I barely heard until when I saw him walking and motioned for me to follow him and it clicked. I quickly followed behind him lost in thought about ways to keep my dad emotions in check but soon we reached ward 6 and he excused me.
With a deep breath I entered the room my thought scattered wondering how my dad was doing cause he really loved my mom.
"Dad how are you doing? The doctor told me some information about your health and I hope you get healed soon and..." I said in one breath when I noticed my dad just glancing at me briefly before turning his face away like I was not existing.
I stood there angry and hurt about the reaction I got from my dad when I was trying to be caring for his well being.
I just happen to look at the window at that time when I face palmed myself *ahh stupid Audrey you totally forgot that you have the same face of your mother, someone could even mistake you for her if they don't look closely* yeah of course I did not say that out.
Ehm dad I will go get something for you to eat and I will be right back, I said hoping he will look at me but was only met with ignorance *this was gonna be hard I guess*
I opened the door and sighed in frustration but still went to buy ingredients to cook his food as time was only 10:00 am .
