Synopsis
Isaac has entered a new realm, as one of this year's batch of protectors. Coming from a more mundane reality, the young engineer has been handed abilities similar to the games that he's far too familiar with. Those in the RTS genre, with these abilities read on as he creates an army to defend the Root Realm. The Root Realm is the origin of up to four other realms, realities with differing beliefs. Each year a group of 12, three from each realm, will be sent into the reality with a prompt and new abilities to help them in their task to take on the threats of the realm.

Chapter 1 - The Lobby

"What type of games do you like?"

"For me, it's RTS. I like micromanaging and the control over small armies. There's also the whole concept of building a kingdom or empire of your own. That's really what keeps my interest in these games. That's for PC games, but if we're talking mobile, then it would have to be tower defense. You can micro-manage the heroes while building something in the background that protects a spot. " The soul of the young man would go on for a few more minutes as he discussed the titles that he preferred.

"Perfect, Your system will be suited to these interests. Best of luck in your new reality, Isaac!"

Isaac, 22 years of age, died at a construction site due to a freak accident with a crane. As a junior planning engineer, he had a bright future ahead of him but as life would have it here he was in the border across dimensions, talking to what he could only assume to be a god.

What came next was an immediate shift in his surroundings. Next to the blue-eyed young man is an old man that appears to be of south-east asian descent and a western woman in her early 30s. Isaac gave a nod to both of them as a bright light summoned a man in a suit.

"Welcome to your new reality, you are blessed subjects from Earth-realm." The aura that the man gave out was a welcoming one, yet not a single one of them spoke, waiting for a bit more of an explanation. "The guardian of your reality has picked you as this year's tributes, heroes that will aid in defending this realm."

"So, we were sent here as defenders. I assume that the guardian gave us magical gifts or something similar to help us do so?" Isaac chimed in, though he had an idea he simply wanted confirmation. The concept was familiar.

"You catch on quick, sir. Now please follow me into the lobby."

The lobby was filled with people, but including the group that Isaac entered with he could only count a total of 12. "Other heroes from the past are in the middle of defending the realm, my role is to train you so that you can be adept at using your abilities."

Isaac helped the old man next to him get to a chair as the suited man continued. "The three from Earth have advanced systems suited to their interests, the three from Verund have highly advanced magic, those from Terra have technology way beyond others and finally those from Bechnitz have abilities known as superpowers."

"Whether these abilities are gifts from your gods or something that you were born with, It doesn't matter. What matters is that you're aware of the threats that are already invading and that you can work with each other to be a successful batch of heroes."

'Hero…that's why he called us tributes. We're meant to die here…' Isaac thought to himself as the guide toured them throughout the entirety of the training facility.

"Those who wish to rest may rest, but from here we will be starting the classes on what to expect in The Root Realm."

A briefing would be held before they could all have dinner. Explanations on the threats surrounding the realm, according to their guide this reality is a root reality. If such a reality falls, those that are adjacent to it, including the realities that they originate from will also be invaded. The threats can range from aliens, demons and monsters that Isaac has only seen in fiction.

'From what I can summarize, those from Verund come from a realm of fantasy. The orc and the elf are clear indicators of this. The Terrans have highly advanced technology and cybernetic enhancements, mechanical arms and the robotic spider legs make that quite obvious. While Bechnitz is the most similar one to earth, with the only difference being that they have abilities similar to that of super heroes.' Isaac would keep his observations to himself as the discussion continued.

"Your training will begin tomorrow, for now please enjoy our buffet. Get yourselves acquainted with one another and please don't fight, the last thing we need is to repair this training camp again."

Dinner was awkward to say the least, those of the same realm stuck to each other and kept to themselves. The old man is a retired general from the Philippines, named Antonyo. While the middle-aged woman is Maja, originating from Slovakia. While none of them knew how to use the system and their abilities yet, he was sure that they would be great allies in the future. As the youngest of the three, the other two already seem quite protective of him.

Isaac enjoyed a hearty meal, the young man wanted to ease his mind and food was always comforting. He thought about the people he left behind, his younger siblings and his parents just lost their first born son and as an avid overthinker he wanted something to focus on. Which is why, at the end of his first day he asked for a notebook and a pen. 'Let's note down the most important details that I learned today. I need to build rapport with the others but I first need to gauge the room.'

Isaac began writing a notebook, one that he plans on using to catalogue information on his new allies. Starting with noting down information on his fellow earthlings.
