The beep of the alarm was the first thing that wake up most people in the morning but not in Diego's case. His morning always starts with Kelvin's phone call. Kelvin, his personal assistant and also like his childhood friend has been working with him for years. His father was Daniel's butler so he was always in the mansion, which made them so close and he offered to be Diego's personal assistant since he was the part of the people that understands him.
The ringtone of his phone woke him up as usual, he used his hands to search for the phone with his eyes still closed. He picked it up from the table by his bedside.
" Hello" he said in a thick, growning voice
" Don't tell me you are still in bed" kelvin said
" Where else should I be?"he asked as opening his eyes slowly to the sunlight from the opened window
" You have a meeting with the Ju cooperation todag by 10 and your dad and grandfather are going to be present" kelvin said
" Okay, noted" he said
" It's past 9" kelvin said and his eyes became wide open as he jumped up from the bed
" I'll get ready" he said
" Please do, I'll try my best to keep your grandfather and father busy before you get here" he said
"Okay" he said
" Is that Diego?" He heard Daila say from the background
" Give me the phone, let me speak some sense to him" she said collecting the phone
" Diego!" He could hear her almost yelling into the phone
" Before you scold me, I know I messed up but I'll be there on time I promise" he said
" Better be, I don't want anything that would make dad and grandpa complain" she said
" Alright" he said hanging up
He searched for his shirt and put it on quick.
" You leaving already, isn't it too early" the lady beside him said giving him pecks on his cheeks
He totally forgot he had a lady on bed with him, he knew he had a big day today yet he till partied all night and had a girl in
" I have things to do, some other time" he said dropping money on the table from his wallet and gave her a quick peck on her lips before leaving.
As expected kelvin had already arranged a car for him outside the hotel. He collected the key from the driver got in and rode to his house in a wink of an eye. On getting home, he got in and went to have his bath, his clothes were already picked out by his stylist so he just got dressed and went downstairs to have his light breakfast. He already had several missed calls from kelvin and Daila, he wasn't ready to hear how late he is or how angry his dad is so he ignored the calls. He finished his breakfast, got into the car and was on his way to the office already when he bumped into another car by mistake.
The owner of the car got down, she was a lady and she was making a fuss about it calling attention. He whinned his tinted glass down a bit to talk to the lady.
" Listen I don't have time for this, you are in the wrong but take this for the repairs" Diego said writing a check for the lady and he whinned up back. He was already getting irritated with the way people were getting much and obstructing him from going.
He was about to find his way around when all of a sudden he heard a loud knock on his window and he paused . It was a lady with long brown hair and hazel eye complimenting her astounding beauty standing in front of his car and he whinned down his glass a bit.
" where do you think you are going, rich brat like you feel they can solve everything with money" the hazel eye lady said
" excuse me" he said confused
" You collided with her car and you were in the wrong lane so it would have been better if you just accept your mistake and apologize other than throwing your money around" she said collecting the check from the lady and handed it over to back to him
" Interesting" he thought as a smiled curved up his face. She sure had courage and a fighter as well, But he didn't have time for her at the moment . It was already past 10 and he was having more missed call
" What you rich people lack is patient, if you have just waited for the traffic light then these wouldn't have occured. You keep saying you are in a hurry and all, if you came across a serious accident would you still make it to whereever you rushing to" she said
" I don't really have time for your lectures, you can come to lecture me another time" he said giving her his business card with a smirk
" How are you able to do business when your mind isn't at peace, you lack patient and I think that's what a successful business man should have." She said looking at the card
" I am late from my meeting, so can you stop obstructing me" he said referring to the crowd ignoring her before whining up his window back.
But she was just very adamant and stubborn, she knocked hard on his window again and he whinned down a bit again
" You were wrong so just apologize, your sport car did a lot of damage to her car. And you have no excuse because the faster a car is, the more the break works fast.. it just depend on the driver and you really don't have patient do you?" She said
" This is your last chance to take this cheque" he said handing it over to the lady who own the car
" No way" the hazel eye lady said collecting it and gave it back to him
" What's your deal?" He asked her
" That's not an apology" she said
" Here,is this enough?" he asked adding another zero
" Apology and damages?", I don't think so" she said and he added two more zeros
" Now" he said giving it to her
" I think it's enough for the damage as well as the apology" the lady who own the car said collecting the cheque
" You really prefer wasting money than apologizing for your wrong" the hazel eye lady said giving him back my card and scoffed
" I hope you enjoy your meeting" she said before leaving.
He watched her leave, they was something so different about her. His ringtone brought him back to reality, this time it was his dad's call. He moved on and got to office in no time.
Kelvin was the first person to welcome him as he was standing right on front of the building.
" How is the situation?" He asked as they moved into the elevator
" Worse than the last" he said.
The last time something like this happened, he was yelled at in front of everyone including the staffs and it really hurt his ego. He is only attending this meeting because of his mum begged him to.
" You better have a good explanation for this" Daila said before they entered the meeting the room
The investors from the other cooperations were already sitted, same as his grandfather, father and his uncle. Daila sat as well, while kelvin stood by the door praying Diego doesn't get hit because of this.
" So can we begin?" Was the first word that came out of Diego's mouth which caught everyone by surprise, he didn't even apologize or give a reason for his lateness.
" You kept us waiting for an hour" David said already putting fuel in the fire
" I know" Diego said sitting down
At this point, he could see the anger in his grandfather face and his father same " as expected" look on
" What the hell is he thinking?" Kelvin thought as he was trying to think of something to help him cover up
" This boy is such a fool" Daila thought as she get like strangling him. He was doing exactly what she wants him to not do.
" This is outmost rudeness to us, you kept us waiting for an hour and you still not remorseful about it. We left our different places just to gather for this meeting" one of the men of the other cooperations said in an angered tone
" That's what you get when you leave the kids in charge" another man said almost
" Such rudeness" another lady said
" I'm so sorry, he didn't really mean it that way" Daila said
" I came late on purpose actually, that's why I don't owe any of you and apology" Diego said in a normal tone
" Diego" his grandpa shunned
" Listen, they is this idea that lateness is a late policy to business and I don't disagree on that... But patient is also another policy" Diego said and everyone was confused
" I really had high expectations from Ju cooperations but you didn't live up to the expectations" he said knowing fully well that the owner of Ju cooperation was sitted right in front of him.
" Our business proposal was to collaborate to make a new model of our sport cars and you all actually missed out the most important of it all" he said getting up
" Just go straight to the point, and let's hear your nonesense" David thought hoping he could say it out loud but he didn't want to do anything that would get his dad angry. He wanted Diego to flop by himself and then he would turn the tables around and get all the praise.
" What I mean is, I delayed you all here to test your patient. As the saying goes the patient dog get the fattest bone, it also applies to a sport car racer. Everything deals with patient, no matter how fast a sport car is, the break will also slow it down... It now depends on the rider to either have patient with the car or not and in absence of patience, ... It could lead to something regrettable" he said
" I need to be sure that the company I'm about to collaborate with have enough patient to produce a better sport car that would end up to be the best model in the world" he said and everyone was already convinced
" Well, I don't mind doing business with you. I really like your mindset" Mr Ju said which brought a smile on everyone's face until.....
" but you didn't reach that requirement so I'm cancelling the deal" he said sitting down back and everyone chin dropped
" Did he just cancel a deal worry millions" kelvin thought
"This idiot" Daila cursed inside
" I'm just joking, it would be a pleasure doing business with you" he said shaking Mr Ju
" But..." He said and everyone smile dropped again
" It's 80-20" Diego said foldind his hand on the table and everyone chin dropped.
" How is that even possible?" One of the man from Ju cooperation said
" He is just joking, we will go with the 50-50 deal" his grandpa said
" I'm not joking, 80-20 or nothing" Diego said with a stern look
"Diego, don't push it" his dad said
" Since you are not negotiating, I have other things to do" Diego said standing up about to leave
" It's a deal" Mr Ju said which shocked everyone
