"How boring" Lucian sighed.
Lucian Vale is a college student with no career ambitions. Ever since his best friend,Lance ,had died he stopped attending classes. His room was a mess-empty energy drink cans and noodle cups littered the floor. The atmosphere felt dense with uncirculated air.
His monitor screen glowed in his dimly lit room as he clicks mindlessly through a computer game.
Lucian was a force of nature in the gaming world—a ghost on the battlefield, a predator lurking in the shadows. His reflexes were honed to perfection, his instincts sharper than a blade. He didn't just play games; he dissected them, bending mechanics to his will, turning every battle into a carefully orchestrated massacre. His fingers danced across the keyboard with machine-like precision, executing split-second maneuvers that left opponents dazed, defeated before they even realized what had happened.
A week ago, he had picked up a new game, drawn in by its promise of challenge. But challenge never lasted. It took him mere days to carve his name into the top of the leaderboard, dominating players who had spent months mastering the mechanics. He should have felt proud. Instead, all he felt was emptiness. Victory without struggle was nothing more than routine. Games were supposed to be thrilling, unpredictable. Yet, for Lucian, they had become just another reminder of how meaningless everything felt.
The curtains were shut, suffocating the room in darkness. Dirty cloths lay scattered on the floor.
He scratched his straight black hair staring at the ceiling, tracing the cracks as if they held the answers to something he couldn't quite grasp.
"Lucian's gaze drifted over the city skyline, yet he felt like a ghost watching a world he no longer belonged to."
Everyone else has a goal, a dream, what about me ? Am I hopeless? Lucian thinks to himself .
His phone buzzes with messages from his classmates but he doesn't reply. He doesnt fit in with them .The only person that made Lucian smile had passed away. A weight pressed against his chest, heavy and suffocating. He swallowed hard but the lump in his throat refused to go away.
Tears formed in his eyes as he starts to think of his long gone friend.
"It's not fair, Whyd you have to leave me here..... alone ?" Lucian starts to burst into tears . He looks at the empty side of the dorm room that Lance use to occupy. All the memories that he had been trying to forget came flooding back into brain.
He desperately tried to stop the tears but it just wouldn't. He grabbed his mouse and started a new game in attempt to forget reality.
