I turned 25 years old recently and I have no job, no home, and no one to truly love. I still live with my family, without really doing anything, just eating and sleeping. I don't look good and I have recently gained a little bit of weight- well, calling it a little bit would be an understatement at this point.
I got fired from my 9-5 job a week ago because I wasn't working hard enough, said my arrogant boss.
How am I supposed to work harder when I already finished all my work!? I guess he wasn't pleased cuz I wasn't licking his shoes like the rest of the employees.
"ugh, my life sucks! I just wish I could turn back time, then I could have fixed everything" I said, blaming myself while groaning.
After that, I immediately received a call from an unknown number and of course, as a loner I am, I rejected the call.
I tried to get up from the bed and have some food, I walked to the kitchen but I couldn't find anyone,
"Maa, where is the food?" I called out loudly because I couldn't find her
to my surprise she wasn't home— in fact, no one was
I went to the living room to look at the clock
"It's 3:00 pm why is no one home.." I muttered to myself, puzzled.
I was surprised because my mother almost every day
starts by cleaning the house in the afternoon.
Maybe she went grocery shopping?
I went to the kitchen and opened the fridge, there was nothing made that I could simply just heat up using the microwave. As the loner useless son I was, I didn't know how to cook— of course not.
Suddenly, I hear a loud thud and I see
"A GHOST??" I screamed, To my absolute shock
seeing a figure almost invisible just clothes on their body, I stood still without a word— who knows what that thing is gonna do to me now, I had seen a lot of horror movies to know if I ran I would have been gone for good.
"Ugh, I'm not a ghost, and stop panicking," said the invisible figure.
She had a very sassy, feminine-sounding voice
and was wearing a white suit with a black top hat probably 5' 4. Is she cosplaying?
Who even wears a top hat and gloves nowadays?? What is this, 1800s Europe?
"That's exactly what a ghost would say and then later eat me alive!!" I shouted
"I don't eat people! In fact, I'm a Vegetarian"
wait a minute, what about my mother?
"Wh- What did you do to my mom... Where is she"
I said with almost tears falling down my eyes which I held back
"Your mother is absolutely fine, just sit down I have something to tell you"
I sat down at the dinner table, the 'ghost' also took a seat and took their hat off placing it on the dinner table,
I calmed myself down and actually used my head in this situation.
Maybe it's a secret government tech by the Pentagon or something, but then why would they even come to my house let alone with that tech?
"Ah don't worry it's just 'Invis Tech' I don't actually look like this"
Oh no... have I committed a crime? Am I going to Jail for illegally downloading all those movies and music for free on the internet?
"what have I done" words accidentally slip from my mouth.
"oh no you haven't done anything, I am here to grant your wish. Call me.. well- I don't have a name so just call me the 'Wish Granter' I guess?"
Grant my wish.. is this some sort of new scam going around? Perhaps a prank?
"what do you mean grant my wish" I hesitantly replied
"It's self-explanatory, isn't it? now make it quick please I am quite busy" said the 'wish granter'
"Is this some sort of scam?"
"Oh, how rude! That's it I'm leaving" She gets up from the chair.
Yeah, leave, I don't care.
Wait a minute, what if she is not lying?, would I deeply regret it in the future?
"w- wait for hold on a sec"
What if this Wish granter isn't lying
"Can I ask for anything? Like...Anything?"
"oh, so you change your mind? Yes, you can, become the world's first trillionaire without legal troubles in an instant or ask for a girlfriend for your lonely a—, ahem… to be fair I don't really care, just make it quick" she said.
I can't believe what I just heard. You mean I don't gotta find a job anymore??
Wait, I may be jobless but I'm not pathetic…think properly, think properly...
"Also I'm just gonna say this, only one try no redos once the wish is granted it cannot be changed and I shall leave"
"You humans always make this mistake of thinking you will get a second try at this," she said in a mocking voice as if she was looking down on me but it didn't sound real to me...
Ugh, I'm so annoyed with her attitude.
After thinking for 5 minutes, she kept glancing at her watch once in a while and humming a song that I did not recognize.
"C'mon Time is ticking, Hurry!!"
How busy are you even? Do you own a business or something? You tiny invisible freak.
"Wait a second… Time!"
"Alright I have decided what I want"
"Ugh finally, took you long enough," she said
"I want to control time"
"I knew you were gonna ask that" she replied
"How did you know?"
"Stay at your limits, no need to ask useless questions kiddo, I got this."
she kept staring at me for a while, I felt like I was looking at a glass with clothes
wait..did she call me 'kiddo'!?
I'm a proud, unemployed, 25 year old Man!
Well...I guess it's nothing to be proud of…
She pats on my back
"Well I have fulfilled your wish, do you feel anything different?"
"No, I do not…" I said with a disappointing tone
"Aww are you sad nothing out of the world happened, were you expecting more? Like Magic?" she then bursts out laughing a little with a mocking tone once again
"No, I didn't, magic does not exist. Magic is just something we don't understand in our current science"
agh!! I hate the way she speaks. makes my blood boil
only if she had empathy
"Alright Samay, I shall take my leave. We will meet again someday! Just kidding~ probably haha" She opens what looks like a portal looking like it was punching a hole through the air to reveal something hidden then she leaves in a hurry.
To be fair, I'm not even shocked that she knows my name.
Then it struck me
"Hey!! where is my mother!!" I shouted
I started getting a headache and it made my body jolt, my vision suddenly got blurry and I collapsed on the ground for no reason,
"I wasn't even tired though," I said before my body collapsed.
